Answer: I don't know.

can this be used for snakes ?

Answer: snakes are what I bought it for---size and shape make it a good chance of hitting them, but then what ?

Answer: We use ours for snakes and frogs.

Answer: Sure, why not. It will be a lot of trouble to get them off of it though.

What is the distance between the individual prongs?

Answer: A good inch to inch and a half and prob 4 and a half inches across

What kind of pole does this mount to?

Answer: Just any pole spear at least that’s what I have it on it’s light and sturdy

Might be helpful to every potential buyer to know the size of the threads, and whether coarse or fine. I am trying to match to a pole spear. Huh?

Answer: 8 mm doesn't have course or fine in most cases. any pole with 8mm female thread should work.

What does this screw on to?

Answer: I ordered an aluminum pole with an 8mm receptacle with the gig. It will screw into any socket designated by either 8mm or M8. The harpoon is very well made and incredibly sharp, the pole was aluminum. Ideally I would want to go to Home Depot/Lowes and just buy a premade wooden rod with an 8mm receptacle installed on the end of it.

Answer: I found a nut it would screw onto and welded the nut on to a steel rod
