Answer: Not sure why you would want to. It's a pretty straight forward device. There's on and a timer. That's pretty much it. But I will say it works awesome at dehydrating. Mushrooms only took about 45 minutes.

Answer: There are two Ivation 6 tray dehydrators. One is around 99 dollars while the other is around 179 dollars. The cheaper is mostly plastic while the other is mostly stainless steel. They are of different wattage also. I would make sure which one I wanted and even call customer service to make sure I got the right one.
Answer: The current picture was not the picture when I ordered. It's possible the company is no longer shipping that exact item. The one I purchased was black plastic outside with clear plastic trays, as was pictured at the time.

Answer: Actually the Prop 65 warnings are put on herbal products, like bulk herbs. . . . actually trying to thwart liberal plant/tree huggers in California. I don't know why they do not put Prop 65 warnings on pharmaceuticals, but then they have SO MANY warnings that they go on for pages in super tiny print, and who's going to read that? Actually when you start having new health problems, you do read them, or you should if you don't. Then you quit the drugs and you are back to herbs again and the Prop 65 warning starts looking tame.
Answer: My assumption is that because it has digital components, it also contains some heavy metals in those components. While they are not in contact with the food, they are present. Heavy metals are proven to be hazardous to humans and animals, so that even if only a rare risk, a Prop 65 Warning is required to sell the item in CA.

Answer: It is hard saying not knowing. Joking. The inside of the unit door is constructed of metal and a material that looks and feels like metal. But, a magnet does not stick to it. I'm sure it is not a high grade non ferrous metal like 303 stainless. So, it must be a hard plastic that is spec(ed) for the max temp of 167 deg. Think this is a BPA free unit. Long story short, the unit works well. Have used it many times.

Made 4 racks of venison jerky. It performed well. I have did my jerky in a smoker prior to this purchase. It's alot easier in the dehrydrator. Have to add liquid smoke to the meat for the smoke flavor. The only thing for me was the temp setting is in 10/ 11 degree increments, but all in all it performed well. Going to try some fruit in the future. Not real noisy.

I have used this only for making jerky so far. I like the fact that it is able to hit temperatures over 160f. That means that I don't have to finish my jerky in the oven. I bought the six rack model and I would guess it can produce a little over five pounds at a time. Good purchase.

The first batch of dried apples I made turned out perfect! The only 'off' thing about this unit is the temperatures seem to be calibrated in degrees C. There is no 125, 130, 135, etc., instead there is 122 (50 degC), 131 (55 deg C) and 140 (60 degC). Knowing dehydrating isn't an exact science this wasn't a deal breaker. The metal trays clean up easy and the fan is quiet. A small cookbook to get you started would have been helpful, but I bought one based on other reviews of there not being one included.

EN :A dehydrator that works perfectly! I made jerky of beef, turkey, geese, moose, ducks and every time it was a real success. It dries the meat quickly and perfectly! As it heats up quickly, it takes about 6 hours to make jerky for 1/8 thick slices and up to 8-9 hours for 1 inch by 1 inch sticks. I also made dried bananas, another success. Honestly, this is my first dehydrator and I am really glad I chose this product. I recommand it !

I believe the air flow from the back instead of from the bottom made a big difference. This dehydrator cost me a bit more but well worth the price. Highly recommend this dehydrator

Much better then cheap round plastic dehydrator. Have used numerous times for beef jerky, sliced pineapple, zucchini and sliced bananas. Use it every week.

Wanted to get one that was square or rectangular trays as that shape is more efficient and will hold more for the same footprint but wasn't going to do it as long as my old one still worked. It finally died and I bought this. Can put more on it, it takes up the same amount of space (and looks better) and it dehydrates faster.

I usually don’t write reviews, but this is a great product. It is solid, easy to use and 6 trays are enough for our use. Runs pretty quietly. Magnetic door is a nice plus, controls are simple to use. Has a large footprint so will take up a chunk of counter space. Having a light inside would be nice.
