Answer: Not sure why you would want to. It's a pretty straight forward device. There's on and a timer. That's pretty much it. But I will say it works awesome at dehydrating. Mushrooms only took about 45 minutes.

Answer: There are two Ivation 6 tray dehydrators. One is around 99 dollars while the other is around 179 dollars. The cheaper is mostly plastic while the other is mostly stainless steel. They are of different wattage also. I would make sure which one I wanted and even call customer service to make sure I got the right one.
Answer: The current picture was not the picture when I ordered. It's possible the company is no longer shipping that exact item. The one I purchased was black plastic outside with clear plastic trays, as was pictured at the time.

Answer: Actually the Prop 65 warnings are put on herbal products, like bulk herbs. . . . actually trying to thwart liberal plant/tree huggers in California. I don't know why they do not put Prop 65 warnings on pharmaceuticals, but then they have SO MANY warnings that they go on for pages in super tiny print, and who's going to read that? Actually when you start having new health problems, you do read them, or you should if you don't. Then you quit the drugs and you are back to herbs again and the Prop 65 warning starts looking tame.
Answer: My assumption is that because it has digital components, it also contains some heavy metals in those components. While they are not in contact with the food, they are present. Heavy metals are proven to be hazardous to humans and animals, so that even if only a rare risk, a Prop 65 Warning is required to sell the item in CA.

Answer: It is hard saying not knowing. Joking. The inside of the unit door is constructed of metal and a material that looks and feels like metal. But, a magnet does not stick to it. I'm sure it is not a high grade non ferrous metal like 303 stainless. So, it must be a hard plastic that is spec(ed) for the max temp of 167 deg. Think this is a BPA free unit. Long story short, the unit works well. Have used it many times.

The top and sides don't get very hot to the touch. Just make sure there is some clearance on the back and sides for the fan and air vents.
I gave it a 4 our of 5 for cleaning as it is a little tough to clean the stainless trays.
Hopefully it lasts a long time.

Made 4 racks of venison jerky. It performed well. I have did my jerky in a smoker prior to this purchase. It's alot easier in the dehrydrator. Have to add liquid smoke to the meat for the smoke flavor. The only thing for me was the temp setting is in 10/ 11 degree increments, but all in all it performed well. Going to try some fruit in the future. Not real noisy.

This is on par to a commercial dehydrator I used at a restaurant I worked. It is small, QUIET and temperature is very accurate and constant. (I put a Bluetooth thermometer in there for monitoring while drying peppers for 48hrs) I have been using this thing daily for like three weks (since I got it) almost non-stop, and is been working AWESOME! I have nver used an Excalibur, so I cannot compare, but my friend has one and that is definitely louder and uglier. LOL The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because is kinda hard to clean to pick up debris as there is no removable tray.

i just upgraded to the convenient 10 tray Ivation food dehydrator and used it for the first time today. the only thing i didn't like about my previous, basic, plastic 5 tray stacker was it was small and only 5 trays. so with the 10 tray, i make a lot more and not having to do it as often. however, i had issues with most of the fruits sticking to the racks. now i have to soak the racks in the bathtub because they are to big for the sink! any suggestions? am i supposed to spray the racks before use or is my fruit just too juicy? any advise would be appreciated!

Recently purchased after having had a disastrous experience with two other manufacturer’s dehydrators. So far, finding this an excellent product, with the possible exception that the owner’s manual is astonishingly thin - absent any meaningful detailed information for dehydrating techniques, absolutely no recipes (DEFINITELY order WITH some accompanying dehydrating book, unless they’re previously in possession...).

I have been using this dehydrator for a week. It works wonderfully! I fitted silicon mats for the trays, and have dehydrated vegetables, some fruits, and have made turkey and pineapple pork jerky. Everything came out beautifully! The unit is very easy to clean, and the stainless looks really good on the counter. My one concern was the noise level of the fan, not a problem! It’s audible so you know it’s working, but not annoying in any way. I looked for sometime before making my decision on the brand and unit, I couldn’t be happier so far!

The first batch of dried apples I made turned out perfect! The only 'off' thing about this unit is the temperatures seem to be calibrated in degrees C. There is no 125, 130, 135, etc., instead there is 122 (50 degC), 131 (55 deg C) and 140 (60 degC). Knowing dehydrating isn't an exact science this wasn't a deal breaker. The metal trays clean up easy and the fan is quiet. A small cookbook to get you started would have been helpful, but I bought one based on other reviews of there not being one included.

Works great so far. Stainless steel trays are a must as you don't want food sitting on plastic while it is heated.
We have used the dehydrator for a month now dehydrating fruit and it works great. Having the temperature and timer functions are great, just set it and forget it.
It is also very quite compared to our old one, which was a very nice bonus.
The top and sides don't get very hot to the touch. Just make sure there is some clearance on the back and sides for the fan and air vents.
I gave it a 4 our of 5 for cleaning as it is a little tough to clean the stainless trays.
Hopefully it lasts a long time.

This is on par to a commercial dehydrator I used at a restaurant I worked. It is small, QUIET and temperature is very accurate and constant. (I put a Bluetooth thermometer in there for monitoring while drying peppers for 48hrs) I have been using this thing daily for like three weks (since I got it) almost non-stop, and is been working AWESOME! I have nver used an Excalibur, so I cannot compare, but my friend has one and that is definitely louder and uglier. LOL The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because is kinda hard to clean to pick up debris as there is no removable tray.
