Answer: Hi again, I called that same supplier and asked about the 7 mill. mylar bag, she said the thickest it would seal in mylar would be a 6 mill. Hope that helps.

WIll it seal cheap flip top sandwich bags (not the ziplock kind)?
Answer: Yes it will, but only if you are very careful. You'll have to experiment to get it just right because it's very hot and made for more rugged bags. I've used impulse sealers for many years, and I've done it. If you put a sandwich bag in it on the lowest setting and only hold it down for a split second, it will seal. I will also probably cut off the bag at the seal. For this type of bag it's more like cutting by melting, and sealing at the same time. Again, it can be done, but it takes practice, and it is NOT what the sealer is made for (no setting for it).

Answer: Not sure. But keep in mind, the sealer was designed to use the smaller one. A wider strip would require more to heat it up. Be mindful of the mechanical / electrical parts getting too hot. It may be fine with cool down periods or it may fry it. Check the manufacturer would be my guess

Answer: Short answer is no. I can't imagine it being used that way. The pop would have to be already frozen and I expect there would be a lot of mess. Add the danger of melting liquid near a live wire which is used to seal the package and you're lucky to survive the short or possibly fire. It most certainly would not meet FDA requirements.

I received my sealer today and couldnt wait to try it out. Upon opening the box I was a little disappointed to see there's a chip out of the plastic and it's already peeling.... see first picture.... but that's appearance and not functionality. I tried it out on a plastic treat bag and it sealed beautifully and stayed sealed. So far I'm quite pleased with the way it operates. I'm curious to see how much time it adds to the shelf life of items. That's the next thing I'm testing.

Sadly this does not seem to seal mushroom grow bags as well as I'd hoped. There are always gaps, but if I seal for longer it melts through the plastic. I also wish I'd gotten a 16" instead of a 12", but that part is on me not the sealer. This might work for other uses, but if you want to seal mushroom grow bags, I don't recommend it. I've been doing two or three seals across the top and then doing the corners too, so far I've avoided contamination coming in the gaps, but it's a lot more labor than if I'd shelled out a bit more for a sealer that could do a bag in one go.

I bought this sealer because the price was right and I needed to seal up to 3mil bags. The directions aren't much help however it's easy to figure out. Set it to #3 setting and work from there. Listen to the click sound to know when it's ready to lift the top up. It just takes a moment. I'm glad I bought this. I use it several times a week.

So far it satisfactorily seals everything, but doesn't trim the plastic unless it's really thin. So far the only thing that trims without tearing is clingwrap.

The other sealers I've owned looked the same, and I thought all 300mm impulse sealers were the same. Nope. This one is inferior. It is cur rate everywhere. Made out of plastic instead of steel.
Most importantly it cannot not seal 4mil poly bags evenly! It leaves a incomplete seal across the line. Turning up the temp does not solve the issue.

Randy : Didn't work, but I fixed it
It looks like the ones with a metal base... but it is plastic. You have to be careful to keep the handle aligned with the heating element, because the pivot point is too loose to maintain proper alignment. It didn't work when received, but I was able to locate then problem (a pin was not fully inserted into the electrical connector internally) and fix it myself. Their quality control should have caught that! Other than that, it works fine.

I purchased my searler on March 28th. I use it maybe once a week for my business. I just changed the "element" about 5 minutes ago, and it still doesn't work. I'm not willing to unscrew anything else. I just assume it shouldn't be broken already with so little use. I have a ton of product (soaps, and bath bombs) that I need to ship soon. Now I have find another way to package u til a new sealer gets here.

I would not recommend this for bath products. It stopped working on my 2nd time using it. It burned my seals a few time and didn't seal the bags. It's like the heating element lowered into the machine if that makes sense? I didn't apply extra pressure. Worked like a charm right out of the box then stopped when I tried it a few more times. very disappointed in this product. i keep hoping it would get better as its new but its not. The heating element just wont hardly cut any plastic shrink wrap no matter what gage it is...have to cut three or four times per cd and its not cost efficient sorry.

So far it satisfactorily seals everything, but doesn't trim the plastic unless it's really thin. So far the only thing that trims without tearing is clingwrap.

This item was delivered and did not seal to my satisfaction allowing water to drip and pool as well as pull apart if not handle carefully. Requested a refund and you have to pay for return. This basically makes the item a non refund item because the cost to shift is almost the amount the item costs in total.

I love this sealer, my old one was about 25 years and just stopped working so this one was a godsend, I make soap and sealing the warped bars is a breeze with this new sealer

Absolute garbage. The design may look like the common sealers but this one lacks a very important feature. The switch location. As soon as you start to lower the bar on this, the switch trips and it starts heating. This is all well before there is ever contact made with the plastic! You will need to crank the heat level up to make it stay hot longer, because of the time it takes to lower the bar. Decent sealers use a pressure switch that makes contact once the plastic is in place held by both sides of the element. This sealer will leave you frustrated and unhappy with the results. Mine is going in the bin and I will order a proper sealer next time

Heating element is not wide enough and may have to reseal a number of times as well as both sides of bag. Have used an electric iron and foil which does a better job.

ARRIVED TO ME BROKEN!!! Fortunately my husband is really handy and was able to take it apart and rebuild it and got it to work. I honestly did not think he was going to be able to as it took him an hour since he really doesn't have any electrical experience. Lucky for me I married a gem and he was able to fix it and get it going. Now the product works great. I was going to give one star because it came to me completely not working but am giving it 2 since i guess it was relatively easy to fix?
