Do you need special freezer bags if you’re going to be freezing the food?

Answer: No special bags are needed for freezing. I suggest a large roll & medium roll, which you can cut the length/size for your food item.

Answer: Yes. You can buy rolls of the freezer bags and make them to the size you need. Not expensive. Just look up bags for vacuum sealers.

Answer: While our company is based in Two Rivers, Wisconsin, and we manufacture some of our products here (cake pans, dehydrator accessories, etc), this vacuum sealer in particular is made in China.

How loud of a noise does this model vacuum sealer make when sealing items, & does it have an option to only seal not vacuum?

Answer: It has very low sound when in use. Nothing loud or annoying. And yes you can just seal if you want. I love this thing. Would highly recommend it.

Can this sealer also seal moist foods?

Answer: I consider moist as damp, which I would say yes. But, definitely NOT wet or liquid.

will it seal mylar bags?

Answer: Probably not. It recommends only using bags intended for this product. You will probably ruin the unit if you try anything else. I wouldn't try it.

Is this product compatible with the food saver jar sealer?

Answer: No way yo seal jars with this item

can this be used on 220v?

Answer: I'm not an electrician, but I'm going to say no. 220v appliances are wired for 220v, as far as I know. I have a 220v toaster that cannot be plugged into 110v outlets. I hope that helps. 8-)

Answer: The product is made for 120v and we do not recommend using converters.

How well does this work when sealing around 35-45 bags in succession? Does it keep vacuuming & sealing?

Answer: I have only done up to 15 at a time but it seals well. The directions say to wait one minute between each seal so it won't overheat. I don't wait quite that long but use the time between seals to label my packages with date, weight, and contents, or to weigh the next food. The built in food scale is so convenient. About 30 to 45 seconds between each seal and I've never had a problem. The bags that came with it were not good though. Food VacBags seal well.

between everyone's special diets and a productive garden, a sealer is essential. this one by Nesco fits the bill. I love the scale on topo though am perplexed as to why it requires 2 AA batteries. Not a big deal; just seems that it should be able to run on the same source as the machine. the batteries are included so sit is really a non-issue. In any event, operation is straightforward. You can use any brand bag that fits. It is fast and efficient. Very pleased with this Nexco sealer.

When I first used this sealer I didn't like it. But AFTER reading instructions and THINKING it works perfectly!! You have to put the bags in shinny side up. Duh...So, if you are having trouble flip the bag over!! Anyway love it and highly recommend! My freezer is full again!!

I like the Nesco brand, it is reliable and last for years, but there are a couple of things I don't like about the design of this particular vacuum sealer. For one the scale won't work off of the AC power cord; it will only work off of the batteries. Chances are if I'm going to use the scale on this sealer I would also be using the sealer so why require two power sources? Second nit is that the lid takes a lot of effort to get it to snap closed (don't know if mine is broken or just stiff). At first the sealer wouldn't work because I didn't have the lid snapped down tight enough. When I really put my weight on it the lid it finally snapped into place, but I was afraid I had broken it. Hopefully the snaps will loosen up as I use it for a few months.

But after I got the lid close the sealer worked like a charm. I like using a Sous Vide to cook fish and meat and sealing the food in these bags before submerging in water make the Sous Vide cooking so easy. I also buy beef from local ranchers, so the vacuum sealer makes portioning and freezing super easy.

So nice machine with a few design quirks.

I have never owned one of these, but it's come in quite handy. I have been using it regularly for packing extra meat in the freezer, shelled nuts, and candied nuts. I love the fact that it has a scale on top too. It is simple to use and seals quickly. The one star ding is for the terrible quality bags that it comes with. I had to go and purchase a different brand because 4 different bags that I sealed (and double sealed two), had air back in them within 20 minutes. The new brand bags didn't have these issues. I would highly recommend and purchase again. I'm just sorry I waited so long to have one!
