Answer: Hello, this is Gosia from FoodSaver Care. Thank you for contacting us regarding our FoodSaver VS0150. Our products are manufactured in China.
Answer: Foodsaver, you'll get more sales if you move your manufacturing to a country with a better human rights record. Doesn't have to be USA.
Answer: I am also looking for a vacuum food sealer that is made anywhere around the world but NOT made in china.

Q:
Which converter should I use to run this machine in Singapore which is 230V?
Answer: Hello, this is Gosia from FoodSaver Care. Thank you for contacting us regarding our FoodSaver VS0150. We are sorry but do not recommend consumers to use American Products in other countries, since they are manufactured to cover particular standards. Although an adapter or transformer could provide a voltage appropriate for use, the internal elements of each product are not manufactured for this purpose, over time they can generate various failures and the product warranty would be invalidated by an inappropriate use.

Answer: Hi, this is Gosia from FoodSaver care. Thank you for contacting us regarding our FoodSaver VS0160. Yes, the FoodSaver Jar Sealer is compatible with this appliance, you just need a suitable accessory hose.
Answer: You can’t, the hose with the jar sealer is too small. Super annoying, it says it works with all food saver units, and this unit advertises its compatible with all food saver accessories. Both untrue.
Answer: Probably not? It comes with Nothing, other than a few bags. I had never had a “FoodSaver” (or any other brand) before. No manual, no hose. Nothing. As I posted in my review, I think this is a “knock-off”. I returned it, and do not recommend it.
Answer: I don’t think so
Q:
How many lieters per minute will it vacuum?
Answer: Hello, this is Marcin from Foodsaver care. Thank you for contacting us regarding our FoodSaver VS0150. The air from the appliance moves at an average speed of about 1,115 fps (340 mps). This Foodsaver appliance creates suction by creating a drop in air pressure, essentially vacuum sealing food or liquid amount depending on the size of the foodsaver bag. For more information, please visit the official brand website.
Answer: I don't pay attention the number of minutes it will vacuum because the machine automatically switches to the sealing process after the vacuuming is completed,
Answer: You should ask the manufacturer this question. I am not in a big hurry when I use it so it’s speed of vacuum isn’t that big of deal for me.
Q:
With the Seal button, can I interrupt the vacuum mode and initiate sealing at any time?
Answer: Hello, this is Mateusz from FoodSaver!
Answer: Yes, absolutely, Start sealing anytime as not to draw anything unwanted into the machine. I love my Food saver and will never be without one again

Answer: Mine did not work either. I exchanged for the same model but it didn't work either. I ordered another Food Saver Model and it's great.
Answer: I've gotten two sealers and both have not worked at all
Answer: Read your instructions or call customer service at Amazon or the company.
Answer: Mine was broke. Too! Both of them!
Answer: Have you read the instructions? Sounds like you have not. Suggest you do.

Q:
Can you use ziplock bags for this?
Answer: Hello, this is Marcin from Foodsaver care. Thank you for contacting us regarding our FoodSaver VS0150. The appliance is only compatible with our foodsaver vacuum sealer bags and rolls. For additional information, please view our official website.
Answer: Yes, you can use ziplock bags, but they don't work very well because they are so thin.
Answer: No.
Answer: NO
Q:
Has never suctioned well at all, and will not automatically change from vacuum to section- when I do this manually it looses suction?
Answer: Vacuum and suction would be the same function - you cannot change from one to the other. The 2 options are vacuum and seal. If you hit vacuum - it automatically seals. What are you trying to vacuum pack? Wet substances are hard to vacuum seal. I just did 90 eggs last night (without the shell) and could not vacuum pack them - I just had to put them in the bag and use the seal function.
Answer: Return it. It’s faulty
Q:
Just upset, I already have a food saver but it's 5 years old and thought I would order a new model. Was excited when it came but it's defective!!!
Answer: me also. my husband got this for fathers day but didnt open it until mid-July. The return "window" had closed by then. Expensive learning curve.
Q:
There are no instructions/warranty information that came with the machine. The manual is not on your website? Operation instructions please?!
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: You really need the instructions. A owners manual came in the plastic bag with the stowage bags with my machine. If you can't find the instructions I would exchange the machine with Amazon. Goos luck.

Q:
How do I get this to close??
Answer: Hi, this is Gosia from FoodSaver Care. Thank you for contacting us regarding our FoodSaver VS0160. To make a bag press lid to lock. Dry mode light will illuminate when the lid is fully locked and ready to OPERATE. After the unit has been cleaned and allowed to fully dry, close lid without locking and slide button to the Store position. This setting prevents any undue pressure from being applied to the internal sealing gaskets of the unit.

Answer: It goes to seal… once the vacuum is done the red light will turn on above “seal” and it’ll take like 10-15 seconds to seal.
Answer: Yes. It should seal once the vacuum is complete. The seal light flashes and then is constant when sealing is complete. It shouldn’t lose any vacuum while sealing. Good luck.

Q:
Why would you need a hose with a food saver?
Answer: to seal jars and sometimes marinating containers.. but the bigger question is why would anyone by this terrible version of a food saver.. as far as i am concerned it should not have ever made it out of the first round of QA testing.
Answer: You only need the hose if you're using mason jars to deal food in. I use mine to store coffee, rice, noodles etc.
Answer: You would use the hose to connect accessories (available for purchase) to the vacuum sealer. Accessories might include such things as a reusable canister.

Product reviews of FoodSaver VS0150 PowerVac Compact Vacuum Sealing Machine, Vertical Vacuum Sealer Storage, Black
Chickiewick : Great Sealer!
Just got this yesterday, my old one finally died. This is really nice. Seals faster, easier to store and to clean. Getting used to closing and locking the top took a little getting used to but I got it now and works well. Nice streamlined machine that uses much less bag material so saves you money there. I found that a 20 second wait between seals goes by very quickly and got a big project done in no time. Wish I had gotten this long ago.
elruss : Didn't like this model so returned it.
This sealer was different than the other sealer (same brand) that we owned in that it has sealer locks on either side that need to be pushed down in order for the lid to seal rather than the single lever lock on our previous sealer. My wife was unable to generate the downforce to lock the lid properly, so this sealer was returned without use.
Mary C. : Difficult to use
As several other commenters have stated, it is almost impossible to close the cover on this sealer so that you can use it. My husband can close it with extreme difficulty. I cannot close it at all. We have returned this item. It should not be that hard to use.
Steve Me : Don't waste your money.
The vacuum power is completely lacking, it would not completely vacate all the air. Plus once it "finished" the vacuum process it failed to seal the bag. I gave up after multiple attempts. In all, it is a complete failure.
Ines Padron : Wanted to love it, but it disappointed...
We really wanted to love this machine.
This is the first time for us buying a vacuum sealer and after researching a lot we decided to start with this one.
At first it looked great, super sleek look, nice and neat, not heavy and very easy to handle. Once you plug it in it’s ready to use.
It’s very straightforward and easy to use. Instructions came along with mine and they were helpful.
I tried a couple of times with the same kind of product (cooked and shredded chicken). The first time it looked that it worked just fine until I unlocked the lid, as soon as I did, a gush of wind got back into the bag through a couple of spots where it didn’t seal.
I gave it another try after waiting about 10min, I dried out the edges of the bag and placed it in the moist mode. Same thing happened...
While the lid is closed, the vacuum holds, as soon as I open the lid, the air gets back in because the bags are not completely sealed.
I’m returning this one and I’m going to try again with another machine.
AC : Stopped working
Worked for a month or two and stopped. Now outside of return window. Im going to get one at a big warehouse store that has a more generous return policy and this one is going in the garbage.
Kindle Customer : Does not work properly
I liked this product very much for the first few times I used it. Now it does not close properly and even if I lean on it to make it work it doesn't suck very well. I would just junk it if I hadn't bought so many bags.
CT Tiger : Not much power
I bought this as a replacement for an older model. The suction power is far less than my other machine. Also, as others have stated, it is very hard to close. It works, kind of, so I'll keep it, but would not buy again
Amazon Customer : Quality control
Broken out of the box, the power cord was loose, and only got power when I held it in place. Got a replacement which also didn't power up.
J S : Irked; RETURNED
I should have read the negative reviews about how the hose attachment does NOT fit in the accessory hole. I am not sure what attachment does fit??? but I returned it. I want my current / older foodsaver hose and accessories to work with a new one, and I need a new one because the vacuum and seal function on my current / older foodsaver no longer works (only the accessory hose attachment works).
Amy F : Does everything I want it to do
Glad I got this. I haven't had a vacuum sealer before. It works with the handheld attachment, too. (Sold separately.) They don't state that but it does. It IS stiff to push down. You have to push down till you hear a click on each side. You push it closed when you use the attachment, too. But don't store it closed like that. It has a latch to use for storage because you're not supposed to store it when it's squeezed shut all the way. It's very handy to stand on its edge and leave it slid out of the way on the counter.
rSquare : Easy to use, saved me tons of money
First, ignore all the reviews about the locking mechanism being hard to use. I am not particularly large or strong, but I can read directions, so this was easy to use, including closing the locking mechanism.
This is incredibly easy to use, and I have already vacuum sealed fruits, vegetables, meat, and more. I shop at Costco, and even with the occasional thrown-away food, it is still cheaper, but I always feel terrible about food waste. Now, I my chest freezer is full of vacuum sealed food, and I am not throwing food away weekly.
There are two settings, one for moist, and one for dry. I have mainly used the 'moist' setting for food. When vacuum sealing fruits and vegetables, take a few minutes and Google the best way to prepare them for vacuum sealing. (I learned that blanching is a great way to preserve many vegetables!) I have used the dry setting for flour and rice - and nail polish stickers (a weird one, I know). (I use nail polish stickers and they dry out as soon as you open the packs, so you are forced to buy more, even though you only use 1/4 of the stickers per use. I now use my Food Saver to reseal the packs and use them over and over.)
I used the bags that came with this Food Saver, and went through those quickly. I then starting using the roll to make bags - there are directions on how to make the bags in the packaging, but it is also pretty intuitive. When I first ordered a new roll of vacuum seal material, it seemed expensive ($26 for 3 rolls), but when compared to how much I save on food waste, it was worth it.
The one thing I messed up the first time was how far to insert the bag to seal it. I inserted it waaaay too far and the Food Saver just continued to try and vacuum the air out for over a minute. I was worried that it would burn out the mechanism, so I opened the machine and it shut off right away without damaging the machine, which is good to know in case I mess up again in the future. I then re-inserted the bag so that the edge just came up to the drip tray (like it says in the directions, funny how following them works...), tried it again, and it worked perfectly. As I was learning how to use this, I did insert the bag too far a couple of times, and used this process to correct it and vacuum seal the bag with no issues.
There are lots of models of Food Savers, and I don't pretend to know how they stack up against each other. However, one of the big reasons I chose this one was the slim profile. I was able to store this in a cupboard without completing rearranging everything. Some of the models are pretty bulky, but this one takes up very little space on the counter and is easy to find a place to store.
Steve Me : Don't waste your money.
The vacuum power is completely lacking, it would not completely vacate all the air. Plus once it "finished" the vacuum process it failed to seal the bag. I gave up after multiple attempts. In all, it is a complete failure.
FLteacher : Love FoodSaver but...
I purchased this model the beginning of January 2021. Immediately out of the box, I found the force needed to close the lid with the 2 hands required at opposite ends of the machine was excessive. As much as I tried, I could not get a consistent vacuum and seal with this machine. I contacted Foodssaver customer support. As I was speaking to the representative, I realized the bottom portion of the gasket seal inside the lid was not in the channel where it should be. Even though she would not listen to me about the gasket, I replaced it into the channel and then I achieved a good seal in a spoon test she was instructing me to do. The gasket would not remain in the channel and had significant indentations where it had been folded coming out of the channel.
I decided to return this item and chose instead the 2435 model which is awesome! One handed lid closing is so much easier and convenient.
Territru : Didn't Fit All Accessories as Touted
I bought a jar sealer that didn't work with my older model of FoodSaver with built in hose. Hose fit, but not enough suction to seal. I then bought this new FoodSaver that was supposed to fit all accessories. It didn't; the hole to plug in was different. My mom then got very sick and then died and I hadn't been able to get to the post office to send back. Since too late to send back, guess I will go ahead and use other function to seal bags after removing air and toss my old one.
MamaJ : Accessory port doesn’t work for jar sealer
We’ll that was sad…. This has an accessory port but it doesn’t fit the accessory tube from my last food saver sealer. If I look for the jar sealer accessory those are the same, but this port doesn’t work for them.
Also, have to press down hard on both sides of machine to lock it…. There’s a locking button on each side but you can’t lock them both at once. Extra steps not appreciated
CS : Takes up little space and works great!
When I first got this I didn't think I would keep it, because I could not get it to shut. I pressed down hard but it still would not latch. Then I found that if I did each side individually by gripping it in my hand and then going to the other side and gripping it with my hand it would close and work great. You can also push down on one side at a time and that will work too. Once I figured this out it has been a blessing to have. I have been using it now for four months. I reseal cereal, chips, frozen vegetables, and package meats to freeze, and I have not had a problem. I really like the hand held sealer for the resealable bags. Now my cheese stays fresh and keeps longer. The slim size doesn't take up much room on the counter either. When not in use I simply turn it up on its end and slide it between my mixer and air-fryer. Then when I need it I just slide it out on the counter and lay it flat. Much better than the bigger sizes that take up so much room. I must say this was money well spent. I don't do many reviews, but I thought everyone should know this is a really good purchase once you learn how to shut it. Prior to learning to shut it I was about to give a very bad review, but I am glad I worked with it a little more before I did.
Amazon Customer : Doesn't work as advertised
Very hard to use. Must hold lid down with much pressure to get it to work. Doesn't switch from vacuum to seal automatically as claimed. As long as you lean on the top near the edges, with all your body weight and manually switch to seal when it appears the vacuum is sufficient, it can be used. But really, we should have returned it.
Lionel Hutz : Vacuum tube portal doesn't work with existing tube
I bought this model as a replacement device for an older FoodSaver. I have a collection of vacuum cannisters that I've collected over the years, all from FoodSaver. I was surprised when there wasn't another vacuum tube included in the package. I still had the prior one, but was disappointed that the attachment wouldn't work with the portal. I tried to contact FoodSaver, but this model isn't even on its website! This model works for vacuum sealing bags, but don't understand why the small hose or its connector don't seem to work with the device. Maybe someone else has a solution?
elruss : Didn't like this model so returned it.
J Adams : Zero Information Included
There was no instruction manual included in the box with the product...there wasn’t even a packing slip in the box! Nothing except the machine & the few included bags.
I talked with Amazon, and the lady gave me the manufacturer’s link to their manuals online for their products. — This product is not listed! And the “space saver” model that is listed looks different than the one pictured on Amazon (which looks like the one I received)! I’m wondering if the one I received is a “knockoff”.
I spoke with Amazon again. I had ordered/received the machine, extra bags, and the extra warranty — they are all being returned/refunded. I suspect that the manufacturer’s customer service is represented in this example.
A Smith : Broke in five months.
Bought this for my sister in January worked fine the first time. She went through a roll of bags. A few months went by when she had a need to use it again. Didn't work. Thought user error maybe. So I went out and bought her a different kind of bag. Still didn't work. Didn't get the warranty. I don't believe in paying more money to make sure something works right. Sell a good product. Do not buy this.
david crockett : works well using a machine to close it.
Works well enough once you get your hydraulic press in place to close it. The problem is the hydraulic press cost 8000 dollars and the brackets and tooling used to hold the Food Saver in place took a few days to set up. Once I applied the four tons of pressure needed to close it it worked well. Keep in mind you have to set your press up off center because the right side is more difficult to press closed than the left side.
Ann Parry : It’s all good
I replaced a larger model with this. I have limited space in my new home and cabin at space is premium. The only disadvantage is that it does not have a bag storage and cutter lik the bigger model, but otherwise works the same. I have used food saver systems for many years and as a single person would not do without one. Also good for preserving valuable documents. Keeps them waterproof.
Conserve as Found : WOW! what an improvement over earlier model
My old FoodSaver model V3230 worked for about 6 years. It was loud, obstinate, not always reliable- wasting vacuum bags, and awkward to use and clean. Recently the side lever twisted off and it became unusable.
This brand new replacement model, VS0150 is incredible, so much so that I'm writing my first review of any product bought on Amazon. Small, quiet (at least compared to the earlier model), and extremely reliable. I am very pleased with it.
If you are considering a vacuum sealer look no further!

D. M. Fisher : Save time and money!
I am really liking my Food Saver. It took me a few tries to get it right but that's just me. I look forward to the savings that I will have by not having to throw out food because of freezer burn.
Conand : So far, so good
It works as it's supposed to. As everyone says, be sure to push really hard on each front corner to hear the latch click shut on each side. Once latched, it works as it should. If I use it a lot, I'll probably go for the one that holds the bag roll. But if you have minimum counter space, this one is good.
Quirkychick : Don't waste your time or money!!!
I was really disappointed with this item. I have the handheld FoodSaver vacuum sealer and it works great. So, when I decided to buy a bigger one; I thought why not stay with the same brand?
Well, the first one would only seal and no vacuum, so I returned and received my new one the next day; but when I tried it.....SO DISAPPOINTED!!!!! No vacuum.
I read the reviews and although there were mixed reviews, I thought I would still give it a try since my small handheld was so great. The bad reviews were right on target.
Just save yourself some time and don't buy it at all.
Victoria Lawhorne : Crappy
This is the worse vacuum sealer I have ever had. Does not have a cutter, takes forever. Is physically exhausting
g$ : Wouldn’t turn on straight out of box
Wouldn’t turn on. Plugged into 4 different outlets, walls and extension - light wouldn’t turn on. Device doesn’t work. This return and replace costs me time and it is disappointing. Might update once working device comes but bummer.
****UPDATE*****
REPLACEMENT DEVICE DID NOT WORK EITHER -- SAME ISSUE. NO LIGHT TURN ON WHEN I PLUG-IN & TRIED MULTIPLE LOCATIONS WITH OTHER WORKING DEVICES PLUGGED IN
Vegas : Difficult to operate.
This basic version is a challenge to use. It’s very hard to shut the cover, you have to really push down equally on both sides. If you put the end of the bag in to deep the suction will not work. Then you have to hold the bag in a certain position to get the suction going. Sometimes it will seal automatically after vacuuming, sometimes it will not. Again, you have to hold the bag in a very precise position or it will not go. Very frustrating. I wasted a few bags until I got the hang of it, and even then it was still hit or miss. I have not decided if I will continue to put up with the inconvenience or return it.
Bren LaCroix : Good buy, great product.
I love this thing. Buying bagged salad? Reseal it for freshness. Same for chips, cookies, cheese, cereal bags. If they heat sealed it at the factory you can reseal it, plus purchase your own bags seal them and make your own boil in the bag dinners. That was a fad in the 1970's now they call it sous vide...

Sandy : Could not close top
The top of the Foodsaver was so hard to close (had to push down VERY hard) in order to seal the bag I felt like I was going to break the machine! I was unable to close it so my daughter tried and after pushing extremely hard it closed. This machine would definitely break after a few uses as the parts you are pushing down on are plastic. I am returning for a refund.
Donna : Disappointment
When item arrived, it wouldn't work when plugged in. Returned immediately!
Mrs. Tibbs : Needs major improving on the suctioning.
The vacuuming on this sealer is not good at all. It sucks but like it’s on a timer. I noticed that it wasn’t sucking out all the air. It would suck everything I packaged for at least 6seconds and then beginning sealing right after, but it did that for everything both small and large packages. The sealer is good but the suction parts needa a lot of improving. If the suction was great this product would be perfect. When I went to lock the lid I noticed it only clicked on the left side but the right side had no locking sound I don’t know if it’s supposed to only lock on one side but it did and I think that may be one of the reasons why the vacuum doesn’t suck as good as it should. I wish it had a good suction to it cause then I would’ve kept it. It’s lite weight and easy to use. I hope they fix the suction on this product so I can eventually try it again.
PicassoPC : My first vacuum sealer and we love it!
Always wanted to try a vacuum sealer and sooo glad that I got this one! At first I thought that the unit was DOA - I could not get it to close. Apparently it just requires some serious pressure to get it to lock into place. Once locked I just selected the "moist" option as I wanted to seal a pork tenderloin - and about 1 minute later it was all done! I used an included precut bag which made it much easier than cutting one. This is going to make using my sous vide so much easier!
My spouse thinks I'm a bit crazy as I am going through the kitchen and refrigerator looking for stuff to vacuum seal - I really like this! It's also very easy to store (just be sure to use the "store" selector on the side. I store the extra bags in a drawer next to the pantry - I'd rather have this smaller version of vacuum sealer than a larger one that has storage for bags.
Overall we REALLY like this unit and look forward to using it for years to come!
Robert A Little : Don’t buy this thing!
I bought this food saver 4-25-21, today was the first day I had time to try it out and as soon as I plugged it in nothing happened. No lights came on even after pressing buttons it still wouldn’t turn on. I am DEEPLY disappointed in this machine as the one I used before I had for 5 yrs before it died.

Kindle Customer : Does not work properly
I liked this product very much for the first few times I used it. Now it does not close properly and even if I lean on it to make it work it doesn't suck very well. I would just junk it if I hadn't bought so many bags.
Get the Best : Not in box, is it new or refurbished?
The item I received didn't look new. Plus, it stops before getting air tight. Junk! returned.
If it is new and works as it should be, I would be happy. It is relatively compact, simple sleek design, strong suction power.
CT Tiger : Not much power
I bought this as a replacement for an older model. The suction power is far less than my other machine. Also, as others have stated, it is very hard to close. It works, kind of, so I'll keep it, but would not buy again
Kathi Deakyne : Meal Saver
VERY DIFFICULT TO USE! And comes with NO INSTRUCTIONS. Instructions not even available on website for this particular model.
elruss : Didn't like this model so returned it.
