Answer: Our machine generates heat and blows it across the food in order to dehydrate it. It does not get excessively hot, but should probably be in the same temperature range as the hot water that comes out of your tap (110-120 degrees). Depends on your sensitivity to temperature as to whether that feels "really hot," but yes, there should be some heat generated when the unit is working,

When I received this, the fan was not attached to the motor. I had to remove the screws from the back to open it up and place the fan blades on the motor. It was fairly simple but I expected it would come ready to use.
I have dehydrated once batch of jambalaya for backpacking with it. It is quiet which I deeply appreciate and did a good job of evenly drying the food. Next up dried bananas. We will see how that goes

Bought for deer jerky it was on sale. Few things I like one the racks are metal and easy to clean in the dishwasher. The plastic drip catch pan in the bottom is great also easy to clean. It auto shut offs when the timer stops so that's really great if you running around and can't be there when it ends. In terms of meat I can put about 2 lbs in there at a time for Jerky. I have no complaints 5 out of 5.

There's a detailed but not overwhelming or hard to understand user manual. Inside the pages is Getting to Know Your Dehydrator section, Display, Before First Use, Using, Maintenance and specifications. This book should be kept close for reference as needed.
The user interface is easy is to read and not difficult to set up for use. It will beep many times when dehydrating is complete. It will auto shut-off when done so as to not overcook what you've made. It also has a built-in memory so if you plan on doing another batch after one is done it will remember that setting.
The Food Dehydrator Recipes booklet is a great addition . It has the following categories for recipes; Jerky, Fruits, and Snacks. Recipes take drying and enjoyment to the next level with adding just a little bit more to each to be dried food or snack. I have dehydrated herbs like basil and fruit such as apples and bananas. I have not made chips or dehydrated jerky yet but plan on that soon. The experience I have had has been extremely favorable.
The main trays are easy to clean both by hand and in the dishwasher. Note this only comes with 6 stainless steel trays and 1 mesh screen and 1 fruit roll sheet. I am hoping to get more of the mesh screens and a the fruit roll sheets for bigger batches.

Edit: I added pictures because it's so beautiful. I ended up putting it on our freezer while we dehydrate the mango... so delish! We had so much mango to dehydrate and only had to use three trays! This is a countertop dehydrator but it is such a great size! So happy!

I was hoping I would be one of the lucky ones who didn't receive a unit with a detached fan that other reviews stated. I bought this for my mom for her 80th birthday and it has been a nightmare! Two units with detached fans! What kind of company manufactures something this poorly?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There customer service is the worst too! You cannot understand their recorded message because it sounds like when they were recording it their kid was in the background. Then they said you can only e-mail someone to give you technical assistance. Seriously, avoid this unit and this company at all costs!!!!!

I have dehydrated once batch of jambalaya for backpacking with it. It is quiet which I deeply appreciate and did a good job of evenly drying the food. Next up dried bananas. We will see how that goes

I haven’t used it yet, the recipe book has a lot of error like the spiced apple chips recipe call for a peach and no apples and then the first word says Pee not peel- which concerns me about the quality of the appliance .

Instructions are a little bit difficult to read - either they were not edited and revised, or they were not written in English as the first language. Fairly simple controls, and everything seems to be running smoothly

It seems like a very well built and sturdy product. I like the metal screens better than other plastic ones. They won't become brittle, or sag like plastic ones. I was a bit surprised at the size of the dehydrator (its very small), but it still works very well.

Dehydrator came quickly and packaged well. Received the product as advertised with no surprises. Machine worked as expected right out of the box. Fit and finish is good, though the construction may not hold up to much abuse. With normal use it should hold up. Very quiet when compared to the popular brand.

This is a pro-grade machine,I have made some of the best beef jerky I have ever had with this little beauty.I previously owned a round plastic tray dehydrator which was a pain to lay out the meat as you had to follow the curve of the trays which were also hard to clean.I can make a 5 Lb batch with no problem.the heat settings are great I use the 167 Degree setting for 8 hours for thick cut teriyaki jerky and it’s fantastic.I have also dried fruit and was happy withe the results as well. You wont regret this purchase.

This was a gift for my husband. Space wise, this doesn't take up too much space. I love the metal trays compared to plastic on other brands. We haven't had a chance to try the machine but so far we are loving it.

Had a cheap one, many years ago. Didn't hold up for long and felt like a toy. This appliance has quality construction and isn't annoyingly loud. It doesn't get too hot, though to be safe --we're very cautious when it comes to heat, water and electricity in the house--, we placed it atop a large tile we had extra, sitting in our storage closet. Our countertop is laminate and though it would probably be safe, ceramic tile is extra safe.
In all, we're very pleased with this purchase and look forward to dehydrating liver and other organ treats for our pup, fruit, peppers, herbs and who know what else!

If I were to have any complaint, there are small typos or syntax issues in the manual, but nothing that's not understandable. I think I saw 1 recipe that was mislabeled but otherwise, everything seems cool so far.
It is extremely easy to use and well worth the money.
