Product reviews of UGM Saltwater Fishing cast Net,Old Salt Premium Cast Net with Portable Bag and Fish Basket
SGonzalez : Overall very good product
My love to go fishing and he has a great tone using the cast net, perfect size for small rivers or ponds.
kvl1024 : Great for the price
Seems to be good haven't really got the hang of how to throw it yet.
max bartolomeo : Cast Net needs better quality weights
Was not happy with weights rusting after one use.
Oliver : Good product
I very much like this product, but if you are expecting something light weight then you are mistaken, considering the fact that it has WEIGHTS on the bottom of it. But other than that it is very fun to use, and works great, unfortunately it did break, but that is because of user error, my friend decided to cast it into the most rocky part of our little pond/lake and caught a big boulder... to put it short it snapped off. there was no chance of us saving it.
Dan Aguilar : BAD QUALITY, DON'T BUY!!!
The quality is horrible, don't waste your money. I used it only once and it got a big hole which is irreparable. Wasted money, I'm very frustrated and upset.
Ethan weigel : Good net. Not ideal for finger mullet
Its a good net great for almost any baitfish. Except finger mullet. The holes are just big enough to snag every single mullets gill plates. Tried shaking them loose and ended up with a bunch of headless mullet. Works great for mehadden, bluegill, or any panfish shaped bait, but not finger mullet and id assume shiners would run into the same issue. Will be looking for a net with smaller mesh in the future.
Ed Lee : Easy to learn howto use
Bought this Net for bait catching. Went on youtube watched a couple instruction vids to learn how to throw, doing good now.

BBJ : FOR THE PRICE ITS GOOD
some of the other reviews almost put me off buying this but since it was only 20$ I hoped beyond hope it actually worked. my personal experience is this I've bought some more expensive ones 65-70, I've gone through 5 of those Betts old salt cast nets on here, and undoubtedly those are better by leaps and bounds. I use these castanets in the rural Mississippi delta where there's a lot of debris in the water and with that, I've gone through quite a few of these so I wanted to try this cheaper one because it was kinda worth it but boy it was getting expensive. in my experience, big water-born debris such as trees tires rebar, etc will rip most cast nets. I say this to speak about the durability of this product. I've used it a few months now and have used it to catch many baitfish and some larger ones. it has held up very well with no rips but I am confident if this net encounters any real resistance it will start to rip. even with that said if it does rip, I could replace this for way less, being only 20 dollars and performing this well I am very pleased. It's been a few months now of consistent use and no problems. but like really virtually the same performance but at 1/3 the cost. also when my Betts cast nets would rip easy patch up can fix them but i bet when this rips patching it wont help much at all. but it's just 20 so eh kinda not worth the time to fix in my opinion. also I felt comfortable teaching my little cousin to throw using this one because I would be a lot less mad if he broke this one tbh.
TL: DR It's good for the price but spending more will get you better quality. which is to be expected honestly. all that said if you're not like me and fish in the ocean/sea or ponds with little debris this baby should last a while. probably would be useful to worry-free teach a little one to use the net.
Maguy : Good stuff
Great
Chris : East to learn with but not well put together.
I bought the prior to a trip to Baja California. The instructions were clear and within two or three tries I had it casting great.
After ten days of intermittent use I did one final cast and the rope separated from the wrist strap. So now I am left with only a lovely neoprene bracelet.
MN Mark : Good net for the money.
Got this net a month ago. I have the 6 foot model. Have used it 4 times.
The good: Have been very successful with it. I'm casting from shore on a beach and a canal inlet. When bait fish are available. They are in my bucket. After 400 casts or so. The netting looks like new. It cast well and opens up well. Seems to sink fast enough to catch fish in shallow water. The wrist strap is very comfortable.
The bad: The sinkers are "stainless" instead of lead. They are rusting. The rusting is discoloring the net. The comfortable wrist strap will be the first thing to fail on the net. The cast rope seems to tangle a little easier than my Mako net. It comes in a useless bag instead of a bucket. I say that as a negative with a grain of salt. Other lower cost nets usually come with a bucket or container that, while better than the cheap nylon bag, fit the net so exactly that it is an extreme challenge to put the net back in them after they are initially removed. The end product is the same. You find a different bucket to drop it in.
My overall feeling: It's a good net for the money. If you are learning and if you take the time to rinse it with fresh water and dry it after use, it works well. I don't think it has the weight to perform well in water deeper than 4-5 feet. If I was to do it again, I would probably pay the extra $$ and buy a Mako net. They are heavier and the cast lines tangle less easily. And their lead weights don't rust.
Leonard Grantham : Great beginners net. Grandson loves it
Perfect for beginners.
mightymite : Saved 4 roosters dumped at the LA river - pics won’t down load !!! ;(
Saved 4 beautify roosters that had been dumped at the Los angles river ! Saved there lives !! We got them to a foundation but before that needed to figure out how to catch them !!! ‘This net was everything !! I thank god for it !!! So easy to handle - thank you thank you !!
json averill : Great net for catching schools of shad,
Got a days worth of bait for the day in one cast. Sadly i didn't receive my fish trap with my order and that's the reason i didnt 5 star.
Brian B : Good value; easy to throw/cast.
I should have bought a the 6' version instead of the 4' but that is on me. Very easy to cast and the storage case actually works. Bonus collapsible live-well.
Julio C. Mendoza : Good
Good
Cassie : False Advertainment!!!!
UGM Fishing Cast Net for Bait Trap , 4/6/8/10/12 feet with Folding Fish Trap and Instruction. Was the description but did not come with folding fish trap. False advertainment!!!!1
Roy : The weights
The weights get very rusty
Amazon Customer : Lots of rust on the weights. Get a lead net.
You get what you pay for.
Justin G : You’ll last longer in bed than this net holds up
Net did not hold up, weights rusted and so did swivel on day 1 throwing into brackish water and rinsing off after use. The wrist part completely tore in a matter of 6 throws. Good for beginners or just wanting to have fun but don’t expect it to last long at all
Andrew Smith : Very poor packaging and quality
Very poor packaging, instruction paper is shredded as if the whole package was used and refurbished, very poor quality, not recommended, will need to return.
Levi burns : Should've read the reviews.
Very poor quality. At first glance it seemed ok, but as soon as I started letting the weights swing, the mono started breaking. Not the leade lines, but the netting. Overall I would say its stiff and brittle, making it a bad cast net. Should've spent more.
Mitchell rigdon : Very pleased thank you
WAS KIND OF SCEPTICAL ABOUT THIS BUT IT CAME EARLY AND LOOKS GREAT EVEN CAME WITH DIRECTIONS ON HOW TO FIX A HOLE IF NEED BE AND ALSO CAME WITH THE NEEDLE NEDDED AND SOME THREADING VERY PLEASED WOULD RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT
Poshpuppy411 : Mediocre
Fell apart rather quickly. All of the metal weights rusted within second use of this item. Also, net shredded to pieces.
Leonard Grantham : Great beginners net. Grandson loves it
Perfect for beginners.
MN Mark : Good net for the money.

Mark Cunningham : Easy to throw in a tight space.
Did NOT receive the collapsible fish trap when I received the casting net.
Other than that, this is my second casting net. The 1st one was an 8 ft diameter which is a little to big to throw between the docks and boats, that's why I ordered this 6 ft diameter. But I still would like the collapsible fish trap that was said to come w/it. Thank you in advance.
Tim : Works great
Works great.. Took a blind cast to see how fast it sinks and caught 4 Gar on first cast. Sinks fast cast easy great price.
lithana noukeo : Not my type
The bottom lead line is not made of lead. It's more of a type of metal, maybe aluminum which is hollow and not attached to the line, so it moves left and right, causing the line to fray easy over time and damage the netting as well. It's a good bargain at the price but in my experience it wouldn't last but one year of heavy use. Plus it's super lightweight which is good for throwing alot and trying to find the right bait. But it doesn't sink fast enough to get bait being so light. Good for shallow water but anything over 4 feet of water good luck.
Jaime Ruiz : Net not good
Net felt apart. Corrosion on the sinkers ate the nylon. Used three times and now it is garbage. List my money
Jaime
Maguy : Good stuff
Great
Richard : Price and quality are great
Nice size net, excited to use it. Not very detailed instructions, so I will have to watch video on here for how to throw it.
Mr : Light weight (no trap included)
Product description and photos not accurate. It did not ship with trap as stated. Instead it came with a flimsy 'bag' that fell apart before even using it...
The net is OK, but be aware it is VERY light. This makes throwing it easy, but sinks slower then most.
T. Phoenix : Fun and pretty durable
I purchased this net to try catching some fish in the creek that I go to with my kids. We've used it 4-5 times now, and have had good luck. It seems pretty durable, as we've gotten stuck on a few branches, and pulling hasn't ripped any parts of the net just yet. A good value for the entertainment of catching the fish.
Katrina Payne : Dont cut the bag u might cut the net
Great neat nice weights on it. Light weight we enjoyed ours.
jun zhou : Not durable
I used it occasionally to catch minnows and it was ripped after a few months used. It tends to tangle more than the other brands I used.
Jason Dameron : Cheaply made
My son had his casting net and fish holder less than 24 hrs and the casting net broke and the fishing holder fell apart in the water with fish in it. Both were so cheaply made. I wld like a full refund. Very disappointing for both myself and my son.
Amanda J. : Decent castnet for the price
This is a pretty good castnet only thing is the metal rusts on it hold up pretty well to sharp oyster bed snags
jun zhou : Not durable
I used it occasionally to catch minnows and it was ripped after a few months used. It tends to tangle more than the other brands I used.
rogelia : Good crabs catch
Easy to use
Chris : East to learn with but not well put together.
I bought the prior to a trip to Baja California. The instructions were clear and within two or three tries I had it casting great.
After ten days of intermittent use I did one final cast and the rope separated from the wrist strap. So now I am left with only a lovely neoprene bracelet.
Trista : Not worth it
Came ripped
Jeff : Terrible quality
Terrible quality. Weights are completely rusted after two uses. Net already separating from the weight line just from throwing it in the sand with no snags. Next won’t make it through a 3rd use I’m sure
