Product Description
Introducing the NEW Avid Armor Ultra Series USV32 Chamber Vacuum Sealer System.
Chamber vacuum sealers are a proven technology used for many years in the commercial packaging industry. Chamber vacuum technology picks up where the standard, suction-type vacuum sealers begin to fall short. The USV32 Chamber Vacuum Sealer is made to create a maximum level of vacuum when sealing all types of food, but also excels at effectively vacuum sealing any liquid or liquid rich food. Everything from soups, sauces, and marinades to your favorite infused cocktail.
How Chamber Vacuum Sealers Work:
The pouch is placed in the 'chamber', the lid is closed to create an airtight seal. During the vacuum cycle, air is removed from the chamber, the pouch is sealed, and lastly, air is put back into the chamber, immediately creating a vacuum packed pouch. Since air isn't being sucked out of the pouch itself, you are able to effectively vacuum seal any liquid with ease.
Dimensions: 14” W x 15.5” D x 9.5” H / 22.5” H with lid open

Questions about Avid Armor Chamber Vacuum Sealer Model USV32 Ultra Series, Perfect for Liquid-Rich Foods including Fresh Meats, Marinades, Soups, Sauces and More. Save Money by Vacuum Packaging the Professional Way
Q:
Can soft items be sealed without crushing them ?
Answer: The way chamber machine work, including the USV32, a partial vacuum must be drawn in order for the sealing bar mechanism to work. With the USV32 about a 60% vacuum is required to get a positive heat seal. In most cases this is enough vacuum for a good seal and a loose pouch for more delicate items.
Q:
How does this compare to vacmaster 215 in terms of reliability and durability? i am using (household use only) it to replace my foodsaver? thanks
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: For household use this will be a beyond great unit!
Q:
Is there a vacuum port for canisters?
Answer: No, there is a chamber where you can put bags. You can also put a canister sideways or if it's small enough, standing up. I had a glass jar with a loose lid explode one time...I think I may have tightened the lid too much and put the vacuum timer too long. I don't remember the settings I used. I've done this successfully by screwing loosely a lid with band on a mason jar. When the time is up the lid gets suctioned tightly onto the jar.
Answer: No, it uses plastic vacuum bags only. But, that would be a nice feature.
Answer: On the newer model only.
Answer: Unfortunately, there is not.
Q:
What is the minimum distance between bag opening and seal? Am sealing 5mil mylar ziplock and there's only 1/2" to spare?
Answer: 1/2" is fine. I generally leave about 3/4" but I've sealed them right on the edge too. A seal is a seal.
Answer: As long as the Mylar covers the sealing surface you should be fine
Answer: 1/2 inch
Answer: That’s about right
Q:
Can I use biodegradable cellophane or compostable bags in this machine?
Answer: Our model USV32 uses both heat and pressure to seal bags or pouches. The key to vacuum sealing using most vacuum sealers, that the bags or pouch has a LDPE layer that "melts" together to form a seal across the bag / pouch. Most cellophane type bags do not contain a low leveling melting level thus difficult to make a seal. This is why many cellophane bags are used in gift market which will tie or fold the top opening. If you wish we can perform test on your mentioned bags with our machines. Let us know!
Answer: I don't know...but I do know they sell specific bags for it. I buy them for Avid. It states on the bag that they are not for use in the traditional sealers like you would get at walmart.
Q:
cuantas bolsas por minuto
Answer: Depending on the product and vacuum time. With the USV32 we use a dry vacuum pump and test each cycle at 45-50 seconds. So this will mean 1 bag per minute. Hope this help. Thanks!
Answer: 2 de 6x6 o 2 de 6 x9 , ... simultáneamente.
Q:
What is the return policy? There is no information on how to contact seller even on the seller site.
Answer: I had a question for them, which they responded to the next day! Log on to their website AVIDARMOR DOT COM, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on "Contact". Couldn't be easier! Amazon's editor wouldn't let me type the website.
Answer: No idea, love the unit...
Q:
Is it necessary to open the lid all the way before it will work properly? My cabinets will allow only 17 inches not 22 inches.
Answer: No, it isn not necessary to open it all the way., you just need to open it enough to insert the bag. I have mine on my counter and it doesn't open all the way either. If I am sealing multiple items I move it to my island for convenience, but you don't have to do this.
Answer: As long as you can maneuver the bag into position in the machine, it would not be necessary to open it all the way. However, since it would take one hand to hold the lid up and two more to position the bag, it would be rather inconvenient.
Q:
Does the avid armor chamber vacuum sealer model usv32 ultra series come with dual voltage or 220v ?
Answer: At this time our USV32 is only available in 110V. Feel free to contact us with voltage / country requirements, we may be able to assist with one our partner sellers.
Answer: It’s single voltage and is 120v. Can be plugged into standard household outlet
Answer: The label next to the power chord says "120V-60Hz"
Answer: it is 110v
Q:
how can i maximize the amount of liquid i can pack with out spillage?
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: What are you packing? When we do soups and stuff in 11” bags we go about ½ way and go at about 30% vacuum.
Answer: The most important point is to work only with cold liquids. You are limited by the fact that the bag has to lie flat in the chamber; there's no way around that. When I want to pack a large amount of liquid, I freeze it first in a plastic food container, then pop it out and vacuum it immediately.
Answer: Get a deeper Chamber sealer or an industrial one. This is a family sized one that you can take the insert out of for more room. Not for sealing copious amounts of liquids..(you didn’t specify how much liquid you wanted to seal)
Answer: I have only done left over chili
Q:
Can you use this to reseal a pint jar? Such as resealing some nuts for counter freshness.
Answer: Not in Pint Jars. It can do bags though. Start with a larger back and each time you use it just reseal it a little smaller. It can do liquids as well, which is my favorite part. If you buy bags in bulk you can get them down to less than $.05 per bag.
Answer: Yes. If the jar will fit inside the vacuum chamber it will seal. Just leave the band loose or lid loose and air will be removed. Thanks!
Answer: No, there is no hose attachment on this machine but there is no reason you can’t reseal in a bag.
Answer: No but you can pour them in a small bag and seal them great !!!
Q:
How loud is this unit compares to the oil pump chamber vacuum sealers?
Answer: The USV32 will be slightly louder than an oil pump vacuum sealer. This is due to the nature of a dry piston pump versus an oil rotary pump.
Answer: It is only moderately loud, but only for around 60 to 80 seconds or so at a time. You won’t be vacuum sealing in the morning before the rest of the household awakens, but other than that concern, it is actually not bad at all. Besides, the results are worth it! Great machine!
Answer: I don't have an oil filled unit so I don't know. Dosen't seem very loud to me.
Q:
Does this come with any bags
Answer: Yes it comes with a sample pack of 30 vacuum chamber pouches (sizes 6x12", 8x10" and 10x13").
Q:
Can i seal aluminum foil moisture barrier bags using this?
Answer: Using the USV32 you can seal most barrier bags. The key with the foil barrier bags is to make sure there is a layer LDPE on the inside (which is the melting layer) that melts together under pressure and heat forming a seal. To confirm that the USV32 will vac and seal your foil bags you can send us a sample and we will be happy to test. Please let us know. Thanks, Avid Armor
Answer: I use it to seal mylar bags which I think have a layer of aluminum. I don't know what an aluminum moisture barrier bag is but it's probably a mylar bag.
Answer: Haven’t tried. It’s a pretty good sealer element on it but, I only use standard vac bags with it.
Q:
Can you make a seal without using the vacuum to make your own bags?
Answer: Yes. The way you do so is to start the usual vacuum and then press the "Seal" button. That will stop the vacuum pump after about 15 seconds. The sealing bar relies on the pulling of a partial vacuum to enable it to make the seal. No problem if you only do that occasionally. If you do it a lot, you might want to do what I did, spend $40 for a separate sealing bar.
Answer: Yes. You need to seal one edge first if you are using new bags. I re-use bags until they are too small to fit food inside and still get a reliable seal.
Answer: I have made my own custom size bags. Works well. The pump does stay on while you seal an edge. I used FoodSaver vaccuum sealer rolls.
Answer: I make smaller bags from the larger bags often using the seal mode. I only buy the 10' X 13" bags and make smaller bags from theses as needed.
Answer: It has a seal button for making bags off a roll. The vacuum still comes on to hold the lid down so when the seal bar comes up and contacts the pad on the bottom the lid it does not move
Answer: Yes that’s possible
Q:
Where is the USV32 manufactured?
Answer: We are a small American Company based in Kansas - where we develop and source our products from different parts of the world. Our USV32 was designed here and manufactured in country of China. Thanks
Answer: This is the response I received from the company several months ago when I bought my unit.
Answer: The Kansas folks import their products from: Guangzhou Argion Electric Appliance Co
Answer: Made in China
Q:
My bags keep filling with air and I get a bad vacuum seal, lots of voids. What could possibly be the issue. The food is cold, not hot by the way.
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: I'm thinking the seal time is too long for the thickness of the bag and it might be melting your seal location to the point where it creates a hole. Also, make certain the black seal around the unit is clean of oily films, the rubber bag clamp and the gold color thing across the bottom front are clean too. I wipe it all down with alcohol.
Answer: If you mean you are getting air pockets in the bag, position the items in the bag so there is not air trapped between them and/or try increasing the vaccum time. If your seal is failing, increase sealing time. I use 5 seconds, 6 seconds works but after a few cycles when the machine gets heated up 6 seconds can start melting the bag causing a failed seal. Last but not least, contact the manufacturer for assistance, they are very friendly and helpful.
Answer: Try increasing your vacuum time to 80 seconds ,this worked well for me ,no more air in my package afterwards.
Answer: Contact customer support. I have a similar issue when a large bag is half full. It works better if the bag is sized to almost full.
Q:
What size motor?
Answer: The sealer is rated for 380 watts, which puts the max HP at 1/2. The user's manual that comes with the unit does not list the motor specs, nor does the site.
Answer: 380 watt
Q:
Buenas tardes tienes la máquina de empacar al vacío disponible por favor
Answer: Yes our Avid Armor USV32 is available for order. During Father's Day / Prime Day there is a coupon offering $70 off wit order. Thanks!
Q:
Does anyone else have to put the big pressure on the lid in order to start the vac process, although it is not needed based on the video reviews?
Answer: On occasions light pressure may need to be applied to start the vac process. If you need to apply heavy pressure, you may need to check your seal. Make sure it is free of any debris and properly installed. If that doesn't work, consider replacing the seal
Answer: Sorry for this. We have had a few lid gaskets become flattened during shipment (heat, stacking of boxes). Please contact us at our website at Avidarmor with your address and we will send you a new gasket which will fix this issue. Again sorry for any inconvenience. Avid Armor
Answer: I have not had to do anything other than push the button. Not sure this has anything to do with it but after each use, i make sure the seal are in place and i clean them with a warm moist rag. nothing abrasive.
Q:
what max bag size can the chamber itself handle?
Answer: The largest "off the shelf common sized" chamber pouch is 10"W x 13"L.
Answer: Max Pouch Size: 11" Wide and 13" Long
Q:
Does the unit only use avid armor freezer bags or can you use other brands? and where can i buy your bags?
Answer: Our USV32 uses vacuum pouches which are flat bags with no embossing. Pouches can be purchased on Amazon or our site. Just simply type in avid armor chamber pouch. Thanks!
Answer: I have only bought Avid Armor Bags, they work very well. I know you can't use the suction type bags. I have done research on other bags but AA bags I feel are a good buy. I use 6x12 for doing fish and seems to be a good size for us.
Answer: I ordered Avid Armor freezer bags along with my machine. They are the only ones I have used so far. If you search “avid armor” in Amazon it will give you a list of different bags and sizes.
Answer: I am not sure about other brands. I buy Avid branded bags and they are cost effective and reliable.
Answer: You can use any that will fit size wise. I go up to a 1 gallon with mine. I use both Mylar and the poly/nylon. You don’t need food saver type so the cost of the bags are much less.
Answer: This vacuum sealer can use standard vacuum chamber pouches. Buy them on Amazon, I use 4 mil but 3 mil works too. Read instruction before using.
Q:
How do you seal bread or rolls in this unit?
Answer: Using a chamber machine, including our USV32, they require about a 60% vacuum in order for the sealing mechanism to work. With this being said approx 60% vacuum can cause some disrotion and crushing of soft products like bread and rolls. This would be a test that would need to be done to see if sealing bread / rolls to a satisfactory level for you. Please contact for more info and if you wish to test. Thanks Avid Armor
Answer: Hi it takes a little getting used to but works well. I watch the gauge and from experience, I know when to hit the “manual seal”. It doesn’t take much vacuum and I get most of the air out without squishing bread. But in the beginning I squished a few rolls lol
Answer: When the dial reaches -20 push the "Seal" button. If it seals too tightly adjust when you push the seal button.
Answer: Freeze bread before sealing. No crushing!
Answer: If you vacuumed it, it will crush bread, pretty sure there is a seal only option.
Answer: The vacuum pressure/time is adjustable. At the lowest setting, you can seal a hamburger bun with very minimal deformation.
Answer: I haven't done that, but if you shorten the vacuum time I think it would work
Q:
Can you use the food saver bags?
Answer: You can use FS bags or other embossed suction bags, however a "chamber vacuum sealer" is designed to use vacuum pouches which are 'flat' on both sides. This is how the commercial markets vacuum package. Using chamber sealers will allow you to package those wet items plus save money using vacuum chamber pouches (instead of FS type bags).
Answer: Seems to work fine with food saver bags.
Answer: Yes, but it is not necessary to use the textured food saver type bags. The plain bags for chamber units are much cheaper.
Answer: No
Answer: Yes a little more expensive
Answer: I have not tried it but would not know why not
Q:
Would this be efficient for commercially vacuum sealing kilograms of dry powder?
Answer: Yes I am a pastry chef and I regularly seal powered sugar flour and brown sugar no problem.
Answer: I would guess no. The chamber can hold only 1 bag at a time unless the bags are very narrow. It will not accommodate two 6" wide bags.
Answer: I wouldn't think so. Cycle time is 50-80 seconds.
Answer: Yes...but the dogs will still smell it.
Answer: Funny! Sure
Q:
4 bags have failed. what am i doing wrong? i followed the instructions. 10 bags held 4 failed. any tips? there are no wrinkles or debris.
Answer: Failed in what way? If the pouch did not seal properly, from my experience it seems likely that the inside of the bag was not dry and clean where the heating bar makes the seal. If this is the problem, the easiest way to avoid it is to turn out the top of the bag, making a kind of cuff, before filling it. After filling, turn it in again and wipe the area of the seal inside the bag with a paper towel.
Answer: My experience so far w/ failed bags have been w/ debris & wrinkles at the seal. My only suggestion would be to contact Avid Armor customer service.
Answer: The only suggestion I can offer is make sure there is no food/liquid in the area of the seal. I use a paper towel to clean the inside of the bag (about one and a half inches from the top) so the machine can make a clean seal. If that's not the issue you may have a malfunctioning seal bar.
Answer: Make sure that the sealing time isn’t on too long for the bag. It will melt through.
Answer: The first thing I would try is increasing the sealing time.
Q:
Is this unit continuous duty rated or does it have to cool off during use?
Answer: It was recommended to let it cool some between seals, but I've used it several times in a continuous style without issue. If you're at home, sealing a few things at one time, I think it's ok. If you're in a commercial use, constantly running, I'd look elsewhere.
Answer: It does not have to cool off during use. I am extremely happy with my unit.
Answer: Continuous use
Q:
Can this unit vacuum jars with an appropriate adapter?
Answer: The USV32 does not have a jar attachment. The only way to vac seal jars or containers they must fit inside the chamber. With the size of the chamber only small canning jar can be used upright (liquids) with the taller jars laying down.
Answer: Not that I can tell. I don't see an external port and it didn't come with any adapters.
Answer: No
Q:
What is the tallest item that will fit in chamber?
Answer: If it is a solid hard item the tallest item is 3.75". If it is soft protein (like meat) or something similar you can go slightly taller since it will compress when closing the lid and vacuuming. Thanks!
Q:
Is the vacuum strong enough to accomplish vacuum compression of fruits?
Answer: Yes.. You might have to back down on the pressure as well. This is a great countertop chamber vacuum. Very versatile.
Answer: It can crush an empty beer can nearly flat so I would think fruit would not be a problem.
Answer: Not sure about fruits but this is by far, the best one we have had and we have had several.
Answer: Yes
Q:
Will it seal a aluminum casserole pan 12.75” x 10.375” x 2.562?
Answer: I don’t think it can. I only have used bags on mine. Go look for a YouTube video. Once it has the air out of the bag, the heating element kicks on and seals the bag. You could put the aluminum pan in a bag and seal the bag. I think the 12.75 inch would be to long but you could get a smaller pan.
Answer: I'm sure it would as long as it fits into one of the sealer bags, but I think that it might crush the pan. It would probably be better to freeze it in the pan then take it out of the pan and just seal the food . Then you can either return it to the pan or place the boil in bag in a pot water and boil to reheat.
Answer: This does not make sense unless you are referring to the marinate function as this is a chamber sealer designed to seal items in specific bags. Marinate function will work on smaller Tupperware styles as the chamber is not rectangular, rather a small rectangular space within a small circular space.
Answer: No, that size pan will not fit into the chamber.
Answer: Don't know never tried it
Q:
Are parts available, or is this a disposable device like the food saver models? And how noisy is it?
Answer: Parts and service are available for our model USV32. We support the unit with a 1 year warranty and offer complete repair and servicing in our Kansas warehouse. Thanks, Avid Armor
Q:
How many seconds does it take to seal a bag? And is it noisy?
Answer: It is adjustable from 20-99 seconds depending on the product you are sealing. You can gently seal a hamburger bun without smashing it at 20 seconds. I generally run 60 seconds on meats, steaks, burger, poultry. 99 seconds is for marinating. It is a fairly noisy process, but a deep hum not a high pitch noise. No more or less than other vaccum sealers I have used.
Answer: You can adjust the time depending on the texture of what you are sealing. It comes set at 50 seconds, i believe. I go longer when i am sealing larger meats and shorter when i am sealing softer items so they don't collapse as much. I read a review that it was noisy but see no difference with it and the non-chamber vacuum sealer i currently have.
Answer: First off I love love love this product. It’s not quite ,
Answer: You can adjust the time base on size of bag. I use 40 seconds for the medium size. It makes about the same noise as my food saver.
Answer: 60 to 80 seconds depending on what you are sealing, as for noise it is about the same as my food saver was.
Answer: It depends on the setting you use but you can count on at least 30 seconds as it creates a vacuum. It's noisy. We use it a lot for meat.
Answer: It all depends on the type of bag being used and it is a little loud but not bad. All in all it’s a great machine and sure beats food savers which I kept replacing. It’s 5 stars great.
Q:
Can this vacuum and seal the 1 pint Mylar retort pouches sold by pleasant grove farm?
Answer: Yes the UDV32 can seal many style of mylar pouches. The key factor is the overall thickness. The heavier, thicker mylar pouches can be difficult to seal and in many cases require a hot heat seal bar or an edge of an iron. If you provide us with samples to test or more specs we will confirm . Thanks
Answer: I would think yes. I have sealed smaller and I have sealed larger. The smaller bags I have needed to place blocks inside the chamber to support the bag. I am very pleased with the unit and have used it for 1000’s of bags.
Q:
Could I seal a whole rack of ribs or only whatever fits in the chamber?
Answer: Yes you are limited to the size of the chamber. For ribs I simply cut mine in half and lay them on top of each other. Thanks, Avid Armor
Answer: Only whatever fits in the chamber.
Answer: Only what fits in the chamber.
Q:
Can you use heat shrink bags with this machine?
Answer: Depends on the thickness of the shrink bag. Normally shrink bags will seal ok with the USV32 offer good seal heat and pressure. If you wish to forward further details of the shrink bags or samples be happy to research further and / or test.
Q:
What is the weight ####
Answer: The weight for our Avid Armor chamber machines are: USV20 = 17.5# and USV32 = 26.5#. Thanks!
Answer: It’s about 10-12 pounds.
Answer: 37 to 38 pounds
Answer: 27 lbs
Answer: About 30 pounds.
Q:
Anyone use this for 3D printer filament? How long can it hold a vacuum without sealing?
Answer: The vacuum timer can be set up to 99 seconds. The marinade setting runs for 90 seconds if I remember correctly.
Answer: It takes 50 seconds to reach the top vacuum once reached sealing occurs its holds for 5 seconds
Q:
can it be used to accelerate air removal used in spherification and reverse spherification molecular gastronomy techniques?
Answer: It would be based upon your skill level. I would think the sphere would be rather large.
Q:
Is it good for commercial purposes ??
Answer:
Answer:
Q:
1. can i use it in a small restaurant? 2. does the warranty and protection plan cover me in a restaurant?
Answer: Yes we have a number of chamber machines working in small restaurants and kitchens. The key is how much use per day. If doing a few packs for preservation or sous vide cooking no problem. However if vacuum packaging many packs per day, then we suggest upgrading to a higher performance chamber machine. Not from a warranty standpoint but from a production output standpoint. Thanks!
Answer: 1. Yes 2. Don't know
Q:
Would this work with HarvestRight 10x14" 7mil mylar bags? Roughly 1" is used for the 'tear notch' and wouldn't contain product...
Answer: I measured my machine and you will get at most 11 1/4 inches before the seal. You will need to place the bag into the chamber, lower the grab bar then wrap the remaining top of the bag back into the chamber. That should work just fine. If these are top load zip lock bags then they will be too long unless you want to lose the zip lock portion of the bag as the seal will be below it..
Answer: The largest listed is 10x13. However, 10x14 will fit. You might have to fold the bottom of the bag to make it fit and increase the seal time. But overall it will work.
Q:
Can this machine undergo continuous work during a day for not too heavy commercial use, or is this more of a household use machine? Would it overheat?
Answer: The USV32 chamber machine is made for continuous work. Definitely for home use and craft applications. We have many small kitchens and processors using this unit for their production.
Answer: My machine has never overheated. I use it for household purposes. I am not sure it works for commercial use. I suggest you call the company. They are very helpful and give you a definitive answer.
Answer: I haven’t had any issues bagging 30lbs of ground beef in 1lb packages. Or, 40lbls of chicken quarters, I would recomend the ultra for anyone that is a big game hunter (deer, elk, moose) to package their meat. And I must say the seam failure is not worth mentioning, very reliable.
Answer: I use it mainly to vacuum store fresh fish, meats and dinner items. If used and not abused, it should hold up for light commercial usage.
Answer: this is the first chamber vac that i have owned but have gone thru a number of failed sealing vac in past. during the growing season, i use the chamber vac a lot but it certainly doesn't qualify as commercial use. so far, it has functioned very well and have been pleased with the performance.
Answer: Household, I don't remember where I saw, but they recommended resting it between cycles. I do think you're ok doing several things in a row, like buying a package of chicken from Costco and dividing it into smaller portions without taking a break.
Answer: We have not experienced it overheating, however we use it daily and it rocks!
Q:
Will bags that are meant for a normal suction sealer work with this granted they fit? Or do chamber sealers require a specific kind of bag?
Answer: Yes you can use your suction-type vacuum bags in our chamber vacuum machine. You will notice with the samples included that the chamber vac pouches do not require the embossing pattern found on suction bags. Thanks,
Answer: I've used this sealer with those cut-to-size bags (FoodSaver) that have a texture on one side, those that are transparent and smooth on both sides, some commercially packed items such as rice bags (not the soft Ziploc style of plastic since I think they would probably melt way too much,) as well as opaque mylar bags of different thicknesses.
Answer: It will seal them. However I buy bags much cheaper than the suction machine bags. That is one of the reasons for a vacuum chamber. I would think if you are going buy those types of bags, just use a suction sealer type and save your money on the vacuum chamber.
Answer: I had a lot of bags left over from my previous sealer and just used them. I even used a zip lock baggie from a box I bought at walmart. I just adjusted the sealing time down a bit. That worked as well. I haven't even opened the bags that came with it.
Answer: Chamber sealers require their own bags, however they are only a few pennies per bag ,where as suction style bags are dollars per bag
Answer: I have used my leftover FoodSaver bags and rolls in my Avid Armor sealer, they work just fine.
Answer: No those bags won't work
Q:
Can a whole chicken be vacuum packed in this machine
Answer: Only small or young birds. The max diameter of the bird (product) would be about 3.5 ~ 3.75".
Q:
Does it include replacement vacuum chamber gasket and seal bar?
Answer: Yes! Our USV32 includes a replacement lid / chamber gasket and replacement seal bar. Thanks
Answer: Mine did.
Answer: Yes it does.
Answer: Yes
Answer: Yes it does.
Answer: Yes !
Q:
Can you seal bags that are too big externally?
Answer: I'm not sure I fully understand your question but, I can tell you that the mechanism that seals the bag is a little over 11" long. Not sure if this helps but the machine does have a seal only option. This might let you seal one side, move the bag over and seal the other side. However, you must be able to fully close the lid to make the seal. Hope this information
Answer: I would not think so. The unit takes the entire chamber, bag, food and all down to negative pressure, then seals the bag before letting air back into the device, so anything that doesn't fit inside the vac sealer wouldn't be depressurized.
Answer: No, the bag and contents must all fit completely inside the chamber.
Answer: No.
Q:
What's the noise level (in db, or in comparison with the VP215)?
Answer: I have no way to measure noise levels. It is a small air compressor that runs this unit. It does make noise, do I need to wear hearing protection, no. I use this more than I thought I would and I have been very happy with the chamber.
Q:
I like to infuse alcohols with my sous vide, can this (and the bags) handle 1.5 Liters of fluid?
Answer: With a 10x12 inch bag I can seal seven cups of water ... with a slightly larger bag I would expect you could easily seal water and a protein
Q:
Can you use any type of vacuum packing bag or is there certain ones for this machine?
Answer: Our model USV32 chamber vacuum sealer uses 'chamber pouches'. These pouches are typically 3mil thick and smooth on both sides. No embossing or channels. You can use embossed vacuum seal bags - however no need. Embossed bags cost more money per bag with the embossing not required.
Answer: Any bag for sealing food can be used. It doesn't have to be of a specific brand. Avid Armor does provide bundles of multiple sizes that worth taking a look.
Product reviews of Avid Armor Chamber Vacuum Sealer Model USV32 Ultra Series, Perfect for Liquid-Rich Foods including Fresh Meats, Marinades, Soups, Sauces and More. Save Money by Vacuum Packaging the Professional Way
Bobbyf : Fabulous addition to my kitchen
I was using a food sealer that was given to me by friends. It worked wonderfully until I started including marinade with my chicken. The sealer would suck up the marinade and I would spend time cleaning the machine after every piece. That got old real fast. Then I started researching vacuum sealing. This unit is everything I had hoped for. I can use marinade for my chicken or pork and not worry about making a mess. I spent the extra money based on other reviews of this product and researching. If you freeze a lot of food like I do, you should seriously look at this unit. I had left over bags from my first sealer, works great. I even used wallyworld zip lock bags and then worked fine too. You even get a starter set of bags with this product. Once you use a vaccum sealer, you won't want to use anything else and this item is well worth the extra dead presidents.
Mayerling Guevara : Excellent high capacity compact vaccum chamber
Great and beautiful equipment. It is compact but great capacity, used11x13 inch bags with great results. Has an attractive design that looks good in the kitchen. Vaccum power is amazing. Packed several meats with lot of sauce, chicken with marinade with no problem. Customer service is great. My original equipment came with some cosmetic defect, and it was replaced with no issues and in a timely matter. THANK YOU Avid Armer
Karen : Device was faulty and possible a used previously returned device.
Product arrived broken. The pressure gauge does not work therefore making Avid useless. In addition the rubber seal that goes on lid was detached. Upon attaching it we realized that it made no difference. Pressure gauge still does not work. I went out and purchased $500 worth of meat thinking I’d bring it home and get straight to work vacuum sealing it. Seller states it will take 24 days for a refund upon receiving product even though I requested and exchange. After contacting seller to inquire about possibly sending out a new Avid confirmation of ups being in possession of return to no avail. Received no response as of yet. For a product to cost $599.00 plus tax this is quite disappointing and time consuming to have to return.
Purse Lady2 : Top Notch for Home/Personal use
We cook at home a lot, even before COVID-19 and had used a common commercial brand for years that the bags are more expensive (just like shaving razors) than the device. As you can see from the pictures, we vacuum sealed a prefrozen bagel. This vacuum sealer is so easy to use, long as you follow the short little booklet page with the recommended settings. We make our own bacon, stocks, broths, and various left overs (chili) and freeze quite a bit. We decided to get the little larger size and the $600+ was well worth it because we can freeze bacon properly, as well as have more space to freeze whatever in the future. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this product!
Barbie : Awesome little machine
I have had this machine for a month now, I wanted to get some use on it before reviewing. I wore out a couple external sealers and wanted something better. Taking out of the box it screams quality, fit and finish is excellent, heavy glass lid, smooth hinges. I also like the removable cord so you can push it back flat to the wall when not in use. Slight learning curve but not bad, read ALL the documentation that comes with the machine, YES it does include instructions! I have read a couple reviews where people obviously skipped doing so....Make sure the center tab goes inside the bag so it doesn't inflate the bag and learn where to push the lid to start the "draw-down" of air in the chamber, says so right in the instructions, I missed those details too. Every email I have sent to these folks has been answered very promptly. I made a mistake and did a one click order, 12x14 bags don't fit in their machines, I dropped them a note so they could fix this in Amazon and they sent me a pack of the correct bags for free. Great service after the sale. The best part of using a chamber machine is the ability to do moisture rich foods, in the pics we did some lasagna for lunches, added a little extra marinara, not a problem, loving it!
Alan E. : Excellent Chamber Vac Sealer for the Serious Home Cook
This unit is a legit combo of performance, footprint and price. The build quality is excellent, it does what it is supposed to do relatively quietly and quickly. Easy to use features let you tweak the cycles to your preferences, and it weighs so much less than most other units of its type that it's not a massive effort to move it around. It also looks good on the counter, btw.
If I have one thing to add to a wish list for the next version, it would be a lid that stays open at whatever angle you want/need it to be. I have a good sized kitchen, but obviously the sealer needs to be near an outlet, so for me, at least, that means on the counter under cabinets. The unit is designed for the lid to stay open only at the full 90 degree vertical, and I don't have enough clearance for that without having to move it around in the kitchen--so I have to contort a bit to get a full bag of marinating meat into the unit without spilling it all over myself or the vac sealer. I suppose that's a quibble based on my specific circumstances, but I am sure I am not the only one. That notwithstanding, I 100% recommend this unit to anyone serious about their vac sealing, sous vide prep or food storage.
Chris Jones : Couldn't be happier!
It SUCKS! In the BEST POSSIBLE WAY! This machine is super easy to setup and use, only took me 2 minutes. Performs like a dream and is several hundred dollars less than comparable machines. I recommend this machine for anyone looking to step up to a chamber system! LOVE IT!
DBC : Excellent performance
I bought this 5 weeks ago and so far am very pleased with this machine. I bought this to break bulk bought food into smaller portions and to increase the shelf life of the food. I am also a first user of this type of equipment. This works great right out of the box. It seals plastic bags very well with the default settings. Using the grab bar, the seal line is at a minimum approximately 1.5 inches from the top of the bag. I am using 7 mil Mylar zip lock top loading bags for all my needs. These bags have .75 inchs of sealing space before the zip lock. This requires my bags to be laid flat on the seal bar with nothing but the lid to hold it in place. I have had several bags move when the seal bar raises to seal the bag. I did the below to stop the movement: 1. I got a piece of angle iron - 1.5 x 2.5 shelving angle iron 2. I cleaned it :) 3. I added a couple of stips of rubber door self adhesive insulation stips to the outside of the 2.5 side to prevent movement and scratching the inside of the vacuum chanber 4. I place the angle iron in the vacuum chamber orienting 1.5 side to the back 5. I lay the Mylar bag so that it rests on the inside of the angle iron so that is cannot move backwards 6. I adjust the angle iron position so that the bags top is resting in the desired location accros the seal bar Between the top pressing down and the angle iron I have had no bag movement since. The above allows me to change the angle iron support back and forth based on the size of the bag. I also increased the seal time from the default 5 to 6 as I had one bag not seal well enough because of a dusty product. This increased the heat generated by the seal bar a bit so I would advise a break between seal sessions to allow the bar to cool down. To date I have sealed in excess of 500 Mylar bags with only 3 bag failures all due to dust from the products inside the seal area. Using a funnel while filling the bags corrected this issue.
Brian F : Hands down, the best sealer you can buy!
This is hands down the BEST vacuum sealer I’ve ever used. I am enthusiastic about cooking and do a lot of sous vide and grilling/smoking. I tend to meal prep by making large amounts of proteins and sealing them into individual portions for quick and easy home dinners. Due to the volume and frequency in which I cook, I’ve used a lot of vacuum sealers. I would burn through a “home grade” food saver in less than a year. I got sick of buying disposable sealers and started looking for something more commercial quality, without the commercial price tag.
I’ve used all 3 of Avid Armors vacuum sealers. The a3100 model (least expensive) is perfect for the average home cook. It’s got all the bells and whistles you need, and a great price. The a100 model was probably my favorite sealer I’ve ever had the pleasure to use (until they released this chamber sealer). It was high quality, had a nice wide seal, and could perform consecutive seals time after time (I’ve done as many as 75 bags in a row without ever waiting for it to cool).
That brings me to this bad boy, the USV32 Chamber Vacuum Sealer:
Differences between chamber sealers (USV32) and traditional sealers (a100)- Traditional vacuum sealers work by sucking the air out of the bag, and then sealing it to prevent air from getting back in. Chamber sealers create a vacuum inside the bag, but also the chamber around it so there is no suction created in the bag itself (the pressure inside the bag, and in the surrounding chamber is the same), it then seals the bag and allows the chamber to re-pressurize. Since the pressure inside the bag was lower, and it’s sealed now it collapses around the food inside creating a perfectly sealed package. There are pros and cons of each type. The biggest pro of a traditional sealer is they are usually smaller, and the size of the item being sealed is only limited by the bag. This means it’s great for roasts or long items like tomohawk ribeyes. Traditional sealers struggle with things like liquid, because they pull air out of the bag, they tend to pull juices along with it. This makes it hard to do wet foods such as fish, but also hard to get all the air out of liquids like soups etc. The chamber sealer surpasses traditional sealers in almost every other way. They excel at wet foods and liquids because the air is removed from the bag and the chamber, liquids stay put. They also create a much tighter vacuum on odd shaped items. The bags are significant less expensive (they don’t have to use a textured side to slow down liquids, so are less costly to produce). They also allow for a marinate cycle, which infused meat or whatever else you’re marinating by cycling through vacuum stages without sealing. This drives the marinade into your food without having to let it sit for hours in the fridge. This also allows you to infuse things like fruit, cold pickle items, or infuse liquors like lemoncello (so good).
This USV32 chamber sealer was extremely high quality. It has to weigh close to, or more than 25 pounds. The lid is a very nice thick glass and the sides are full stainless steel. The front has very nice soft touch buttons and the entire thing just FEELS premium. It’s a nice change of pace after handling food saver sealers...
I’ve run almost 100 bags through this machine in the time I’ve had it, and haven’t had a single bad seal, or failed vacuum. The seal bar creates a DOUBLE seal, so even if one fails or you have a piece of food stuck in it you’ve got backup. They also go the extra mile and send a spare seal bar- yes you can actually REPLACE parts without having to buy a new machine, unlike many popular brands.
I’ve had questions over the time that I’ve had my avid armor products and contacted customer service via email. They are always very prompt, polite and super knowledgeable. In addition to the extremely high quality of their products, their CS team is another big plus.
Bottom Line: if you use a lot of bags, and seal liquids or wet foods often... this is the machine for you. If you like science (if you’ve never seen water “boil” at room temp go watch a video of someone sealing water in a chamber sealer) and impressing your friends at a dinner party... this is the machine for you! You likely will make up the difference in cost between a traditional sealer in the cost of bags, and gain all the additional features like marinade mode and ability to seal wet and liquid items. If you’re a more casual user, or don’t seal liquids then take a look at the Avid Armor a100, it’s the best traditional style vacuum sealer out there. Either way you’re going to end up with a vacuum sealer that will last longer and perform better than anything else you’ve used.
O : Great Chamber Vac.
I initial got this to help with cooking 2 Turkey's (Sous Vide) for thanksgiving. I bought it the 22nd of November (paid extra $42 for expedited shipping) and received it on the 27th. Couldn't really use it for the birds, I didn't have enough time and the wife really wasn't into it :( First uses: I had some sealing problems at, appears like the rubber seal wasn't installed properly and got damaged by the weight of the glass door. This prevented the unit from sealing and creating the vacuum. Customer service however is great!, they respond quickly and provide great feed back. They shipped out a replacement and I began using the extra one supplied with unit (as they informed me to do). It wasn't until a couple of day ago that I really began to use the USV3. I Vac/sealed about 15 consecutive bags of fish with marinade, no issues, didn't over heat. This is a huge upgrade to the Foodsaver model that i was used to. I haven't used another brand of Chamber style Vacuums but am very happy with this model. I only would suggest perhaps an interchangeable top/lid that allows taller pieces of meat, as other the other brands allow. This model doesn't look as industrial as those other brands so I didn't mind leaving it on the counter, my wife however doesn't agree so it says in another room!

Stephen Warneke Jr : Finicky and doesn't seal liquids well
I wanted this to work so badly but the rubber seal on the lid falls out constantly and the sealer bar comes off the two metal poles it sits on often. When sealing liquid, I can't get all the air out of the bag. I called the number of the company and left a message trying to get help to see if we could rectify the situation instead of returning it, but no one ever called me back so I ended up returning it.
Galileo Figaro : This product really sucks
Like any other tool, the Avid Armor USV32 works best under a set of criteria, and I would be lying if I said I haven't figured out the limits of those criteria the messy way.
That said, If you understand what you're buying and why, this system is excellently suited for small and medium jobs.
Notes: Let your work cool before sealing if you don't want to spend your time drying out the chamber. Be careful of high viscosity liquids such as syrups as they will foam up far more than you think they will.
Cappah : All I can say is WOW!!
Out of the box amazing! Nicely packaged to prevent damage. I am throughly impressed with this machine. So long FS! After using several days, I am not disappointed in function nor quality.
Amazon Customer : This is a great unit for the money
I love this vacuum sealer; it works so much better than the external bag type. There is tons of room for sealing any product. Soups, broths, and stews can be sealed almost flat with no leakage during sealing. This saves tons of room in the freezer. The bags are cheaper in the long run then the seal-a-meal type, although those bags work well in the sealer. I even seal potato chip bags without crushing them. All you have to do is adjust the settings, the book tells you what to do. I highly recommend this sealer. A++++
Bob In Denver : Absolutely love this vacuum sealer
I smoke meats in volume and portion out and freeze for future use and this sealer has been worth it's weight in gold.
The build quality is high and well worth the price if you are looking for a machine for the long term.
One tip: I have found that if you press down lightly on the lid when starting a seal the vacuum will build properly. On mine if I don't press down lightly it doesn't build vacuum and will throw an EC1 error and you won't see vacuum building on the gauge. I suspect a little silicone or cooking oil on the seal will solve that and I am going to try that before my next use.
Regardless it's not a problem pushing down on the lid lightly at that the start of each seal. I was scratching my head when I first started using it and found a YouTube video where the guy pointed this out.
10/10 would purchase another of this sealer and highly recommend it to others.
Tom Streifel : Very good chamber vacuum
Good quality and attractive enough to sit on the counter. Pros: small footprint but decent chamber area good price fairly quite Cons: have to press on the top to get the vacuum to pull around the seal system drops vacuum to pull up the seal bar I've used larger and more expensive chamber vacs and although they could seal larger bags (11x14), they were more industrial looking and much larger and louder.
Cortney : Best investment of 2021
This is the best sealer ever! I have been using regular vacuum sealers for years and they are finicky and require many steps. I used to freeze my soups in plastic containers, the vacuum seal them then let them thaw then refreeze. I had been looking for a chamber sealer and saw a review in Food and Wine and decided to order the Avid Amor. It is so amazing! I can seal liquids immediately, no freezing needed. It marinated meat in 5 minutes and it really is well marinated. I find myself pulling this out a few times a week. I am telling everyone about it. It is easy to use, fast, efficient and effective. If you are on the fence, buy it. You will be so pleased!
Graham M Jones : Great post purchase service
I purchased this unit in February 2020 and had been using it daily until mid May when it stopped working. I contacted Avid Armor and after sharing a video they instructed me to return it to their facility. Unfortunately that wouldn’t work well for me as I’m not in the US. They asked if I’d be willing to install the pump myself and would provide instructions. I received the email with very clear instructions (including pictures) and the new pump arrived a few days later. I was able to install it and everything is working perfectly - and I am not a mechanical person. Things breakdown but to me how a company responds post purchase means as much as a quality product. I’m very happy with my purchase.
David S. : This is a great machine
My wife and I have been using Food Saver and a Game Saver for many years. While we liked sealing and the cost saving of doing so, the frustrating thing was wet meats or not being able to vacuum pack very wet items, such as stews and soups. Then we decided to invest in a Chamber vacuum machine. After looking over many products and cost we picked the Avid Armor USV32. We just used it this past weekend to seal 16 lbs. of hamburger, and 12 lbs. of other meats. The machine worked great and no frustrating issues with wet food items. This machine is made in the USA, and the bags cost less than the traditional Food Saver bags.
4 stars given value for money as the initial cost is high, and while the suction power is good it does take a little longer to vacuum (we set at 40 sec. for a tight seal.
I also wish it had a hose connection for containers or even a upgraded adaptor that could be installed and used for container suction.
Andy Flatt : Incredible!
My old non chamber vac sealer was dying, and I had been weighing whether or not to get a chamber sealer. I did some research, and it all pointed to the Avid Armor units being worth a try. We decided to take the plunge, and wow, are we happy we did. Out freezer had a little condensation issue, causing the need to repackage dinner of our meat, or have it get severely freezer burned. Package after package, this unit did the work, and didn't need a break. I'm currently on pound 15, of probably around 50, of grill roasted corn, and it's showing no signs of doing anything other than crossing along, and making some great seals. No, it's not cheap, even though it's less expensive than since. It's worth it. Caveat: of you're wanting to seal a whole pork butt, or whole rack of ribs, then they won't fit in this unit. Of course, they don't fit in the chamber unit out processing house has, either, so... If you're trying to decide, go ahead and do it. I don't think you'll regret it. (FYI - I bought this on Amazon, live in the Southeastern US, and was not paid for this.)
Max H. Herr : Amazing "plug and play" chamber vacuum sealer -- works PERFECTLY right out of the box!
I have spent considerable time over the last month trying to decide on the right chamber vacuum sealer to purchase. There are plenty to choose from, including no-name versions imported from overseas with labels someone who only reads English, German, Greek, and Ukrainian would never understand. Videos on Youtube posted by the company and actual purchasers were also very helpful.
There were several factors that led to my decision to purchase the Avid Armor USV32, not the least of which is an oil-free vacuum pump that will likely never need to be serviced. Chamber size and depth was another factor, as was the 11" sealer bar. At $599 (minus a special 5% discount at the time I purchased), this is not an inexpensive item, but it is less costly than a few other comparable (and many inferior) chamber vacuum sealers. The chamber will easily accommodate 10"x13" bags (about 1 gal capacity), which is not large enough to do a full rack of ribs or a whole brisket, but I still have my Foodsaver to do those. But this USV32 will now be my primary vacuum sealing tool.
The only feature the USV32 lacks is the "accessory port" found on the USV20 used to seal cannisters and jars. Again, my Foodsaver will do this when I need it, so that is only a minor concession for me. That my cost of sealing bags will drop dramatically is a bigger plus. 1,000 10"x13" bags (will easily last us a few years) for just over $100 is plenty inexpensive. And you might want to visit the Avid Armor website and order one or two additional filler plates ($9) (the machine now comes with one -- some 2019 and 2020 Youtube videos indicated that their machine did not come with any).
I ordered this chamber sealer here on Monday, selected the "free shipping" option (there are additional paid options available for reduced delivery time if you just can't wait a few days), and Fedex delivered to my door a couple of minutes before 10am on Friday. This item ships from the company which is in a suburb of Overland Park, Kansas, almost the geographical center of the continental US, so it shouldn't take more than this amount of time to get to almost anywhere in the US.
I had the machine unboxed in just a few minutes, cleared off my countertop where my trusty Foodsaver has been for the past several years, and plugged it in. My kitchen is completely custom (and outfitted with commercial appliances), with 30" deep countertops to match the depth of my 60" American Range and wall cabinets placed higher than in most residential kitchens. It was as if I knew one day I would be putting a USV32 in this exact spot, because the lid in the fully open position clears the bottom of my cabinet perfectly by about 1/2".
I had purchased a few skirt steaks a couple of days earlier, anticipating the machine's arrival. The vacuum bags I also ordered from another vendor must have been on a different Fedex truck, and I was itching to seal up those skirts. Thankfully, the sealer ships with a small assortment of 6", 8", and 10" bags, and I immediately set out to see how well this chamber sealer really works. And, boy, was I impressed!
The vacuum process does require momentarily pressing on the lid to effect the seal, and I did not alter the factory settings for vacuum time (50 sec) and seal time (5 sec). While I wasn't sure what to expect noise-wise, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that it is less noisy than my Foodsaver (my wife didn't even realize I was using the new machine), and as the maximum vacuum is reached, it actually gets a bit quieter -- quite the opposite of the Foodsaver. The cycle completed, the chamber refilled with air and the bag was solidly sealed. One of the most important features of the seal bar is that it double-seals the bag, assuring that my frozen foods or sous vide cooks will not be sabotaged by a leaky seal.
I wasn't sure, however, that the machine was operating correctly, because with about 2 seconds left in the vacuum cycle, the vacuum releases briefly. It did this on each of the three skirt steaks I packed. So I went back to viewing some of the Youtube videos others have posted and, sure enough, I spotted the same effect in each video, thus alleviating any fear that I had a defective machine. The box actually includes a card signed by the Avid Armor employee who tested the machine on the day it was shipped and an "avocado" sealed in a bag to prove it.
My wife and I do a lot of soups, stews, and chilis, and the Foodsaver is not ideal for sealing those kinds of things. I'm also looking forward to using this to speed marinate meats and poultry, something the Foodsaver doesn't do well.
I am very pleased with my decision and look forward to many more years of high quality vacuum sealing! If you're "on the fence" trying to decide whether to spend the money for a chamber vacuum sealer, or which one to purchase, don't pass up the USV32.
David : Defective within a few months!
After about a month the pistons that keep the heat sealer bar in proper position have failed and left them in the up position. This is complicated, but the heat sealer bar should remain in its lowered position until time to seal. With it in the higher seal position the whole time it clamps the bag early, trapping the atmosphere in the bag and causing it to expand then as the vacuum increases. The result of that is the expansion of the bag inflates it so much that it pulls out of position at the sealer bar so that when tome to seal occurs you will not get a proper seal. That kinda makes this unusable until I can firgure out how to repair it.
Scooter-Trash : Spectacular Compact Design
I had a vacmaster for yrs & hated giving it up when I moved into a small condo. When I ran into this I was jazzed. You can put half an avocado in & it keeps 2 weeks. Stick the whole bowl of leftovers in a bag for QUICK cleanup. I had an issue w/ mine but customer service fixed it. It is an awesome unit.
Billy Burkhalter : Great product paired with excellent support!
This vacuum sealer works perfectly. It was packaged very well and the instructions could not have been clearer. Finally, I sealed 10 items without a malfunction or the need to repeat. I’m an avid gardener, an I have to vacuum seal a lot of vegetables. The Avid Armor vacuum sealers absolutely performs beyond my expectations and Supersedes any other product I’ve used in the past. I also like the personal touch from the Co-Founders, David & Nina. They actually provided Sapir parts and local contact information.
Angela A Stanton, PhD : I really wanted to love this but after 2 bags it quit working
After reading all the reviews, and because it is an American made product, I decided to pay the extra for what I thought was great value. It arrived, I followed the instructions to the 3 test runs for calibration, tested the seal on an empty bag that needed sealing on the bottom before filling it up. I put my first item in (ground beef) into the medium sized bag that came with the machine and it worked! I was so excited.
I video taped the second bag filled with ground beef--I was about to freeze a ton of ground beef--and it worked! Awesome. So I filled up all the other bags--10 total--with ground beef--one pound each--and repeated the same steps... nothing... the pressure was not going up--there is a circular pressure gauge on the front of the unit so you can verify where you are in the vacuuming process. The counter was counting down but nothing changed on the pressure gauge.
I tried it 4 times--pressing cancel each time since I didn't want it to seal a bag that was not vacuumed out--but nothing improved. I turned the machine off and turned it back on again, inspected all seals and everything. Nothing happened when I tried to vacuum. I replaced that bag of ground beef with another... thinking "who knows, maybe it's the bag or the meat or whatever" but nope. Lots of noise, no vacuum.
I am really disappointed because all the others I can see are really bad quality types so now I have no idea what to get. I live on having my bulk purchased meat vacuum sealed and now I have 10 lbs I couldn't seal. Just miserable... and my old machines, which I was replacing but I saved that as a spare in case stuff like this happens, also stopped working.
Oh well... better luck next time. I think this machine--if it works--it is probably the best in the market but if it doesn't work... well.. it's the worst.
Julie Montalvo : Very easy to use. I love it.
Not only does it look like a quality machine but I'm very impressed by the quality. It is reliable. When I opened the box it had a "smurfy avocado" vacuum packed with a note that they had tested the machine and it "sucks!" HaHaHa! Gave me a laugh :) I have a Foodsaver vacuum sealer but constantly had to reseal especially if had a moist product. Even when choosing the right setting for such food the sealer didn't always work. Many times I would find the seal "hadn't taken." This was after the stuff was frozen. It was downright annoying! Also, the bags were very expensive. I did the calculations and, if I bought them at Sam's Club for approximately $40, the vacuum seal rolls would give me bags at about 40 cents each. On Amazon the bags cost a whole lot more. With these, the bags are about 4 to 8 cents per bag. A big difference and I find myself using this chamber vacuum sealer all the time now. As a matter of fact, I look forward to sealing. Before, I dreaded the whole ordeal. This sealer has a place of honor on my countertop. I can make soup and pack servings easily. They seal well every time...and have a double seal. Just a tip, make certain to push down the glass door tight so that the sealer can do its work correctly.
B & A : Works great, variable suction settings
I was able to use this sealer right out of the box. We used a hot dog bun to test the low and high suction settings with great results as seen in the pictures. We also tested liquids which sealed right up with no leakage. This is a perfect addition to our kitchen as we do more home food prep after bulk purchases. It is more expensive than the non-chamber style sealers, but the versatility makes it valuable.
pj2005 : Great vacuum chamber for the money
This is a well made vacuum chamber. I have used it heavily and no issues with it. I like the stainless steel construction and the heavy glass lid seems of good quality. It is noisy but it is running a small compressor. The extra parts, the heat bar element and door gasket are nice to have knowing these are potential fail points. The unit is made in China and but the quality is very good.
chazf : Great product thats easy to use.
WOW!!! I absolutely love this product. I have wanted a chamber vac for a very long time, ant this product is everything I could wish for. I love to cook and I make large batches of recipes on my days off and portion and freeze them in boil in pouches for quick dinners. I also love cooking with an immersion circulator. This is a great product easy to use and i could not be happier with it. This is the best kitchen gadget and i would advise everyone to have one. The price was also quite reasonable. GREAT JOB AVID!!!
Ron Rogers : This thing does really suck!!
There is NOTHING I dislike about this Avid-Armor Chamber Sealer. It's extremely well built, pulls 27"-28" of mercury (hg) consistently, is NOT cumbersome to move around, and looks great on the counter top.Picture #1- cut up carrots, Picture #2- metal can, Picture #3 - bag of water! Yes, a bag of water!!! Let's see a regular vacuum sealer do this! I've had a Food Saver over 20 years and it's been a good sealer. However, I've been looking for a sealer that will vacuum wet foods/meats, or just plain liquids. I found it!!!!!!!! My next purchase will be the A100 vacuum sealer by Avid-Armor, because it pulls more vacuum out, and looks great too! Thank You-Avid Armor!! Ron
Wae.C : A super nice sealer for soup!
To be honest, I bought a food saver before. However, I found all my stew, congee has to be frozen before sealing. That is terrible. So here comes this chamber sealer. I have been using this machine for a few months and I sealed more than 300 bags. It is just great. Since lower air pressure will reduce the liquid boiling point, I would still wait for the liquid food to be at room temperature before sealing it.
HollyAnn Crowe : Game Changing Machine!!!!!!!
So I have waited to write this review because I have been busy using it and let me tell you this is a game-changer. We live on a farm and I have been researching upgrading to a Chamber Sealer for a few years now. I decided on this one for a few reasons, price, reviews, space, ease of use, and that is a small business. I do not regret my decision at ALL! This thing can do it all. I process almost every day for the freezer and this is my new best friend. It is easy to use, can keep up with the pace that we are putting bags in and hitting go and it does an incredible job. As you can see in the pictures We have done corn, zucchini bread, tomato pies, squash and so much more. The neighbors are even calling to come over to seal things. We are sous vide users too but have not tried this yet as we are too busy with all the veggies and cooking we are doing at the moment but I am very excited to see how much better this is for sous vide then the crappy home machines we used to use. This machine is sizeable, so if you are going to leave it out account for that - it is on my kitchen island right now because I use it daily, I am sure in the winter it can be put away some. It makes noise, NOT a ton but this is not a silent operation, just be aware. Like I said we used to use those home sealers, UGH .. the frustration with those was HORRIBLE because after a few bags they would stop working because you needed to let them cool down. This thing is nothing like that and does SUCH A BETTER JOB there is no comparison ... If you do even a small amount of food prep for the freezer I would highly recommend this. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU Avid Armor. You have a customer for life! (plus they send you a sample of bags with your order ...nice bonus and touch!)
Michael Davis : Love it! But... poor gasket design.
I love my chamber vacuum sealer but I think a poorly designed gasket leaks air. I get very inconsistent results and its been driving me crazy. Is there a better gasket design coming?
AtomicDog : Should have done this years ago
I've only had this a few days, so this review is not about longevity. I am SO glad I didn't buy the smaller one. It came with extra parts and a manual that needs serious proof reading. The included 3mil bags are thicker than the aftermarket 3mil bags I bought here. Both work well though. This is a way better way to vacuum seal than the suction type sealers. Unfortunately the price reflects that. The unit is very heavy, which to me is a good sign. You're not going to want to move this around a lot on a daily basis. If that's important then you may want to consider the smaller version. This is a counter top appliance that takes up some room. It also stores with the lid open, which it won't do if you have cabinets above your counter. At least not mine anyway.
David M. : Best chamber vacuum sealer hands down! It's amazing!
Thanksgiving will never be the same! I just got my Avid Armor Chamber vacuum sealer and this thing really sucks! As in sucks all the air out of anything and seals everything! Dry or wet food, nails it every time. No more wasted food and bags are like 2 cents a piece. It's like magic! Video and pics are turkey, macaroni & cheese, and mashed potatoes.
John Setzler : Perfect Chamber Sealer for Home Use
I purchased a cheap Chinese chamber sealer on Ebay about a year ago. It works OK but it has a few quirks I don't like about it. A friend of mine turned me on to the Avid Armor Ultra Chamber Sealer recently so I decided to go ahead and buy one of these to replace the Chinese knock-off.
When this sealer arrived here earlier this week, the first thing I noticed was how much smaller and lighter it is than the one I had (which is similar in size/weight to the VacMaster VP210.) This one is very easy to move around. The sealer bar on the Avid Armor is about 11.5" wide so it can seal 11" bags with no issue at all. Normally the largest bags I seal are 10x13 but I think I might buy a package of 11x14 bags to try out in this one for the larger jobs I would like to do occasionally. The vacuum program is adjustable in 5 second increments and the sealer function adjusts in 1 second increments. The default vacuum time was set to 50 seconds and I ended up reducing it to 35. I believe that 35 offers a perfectly good vacuum in most cases for my use. Over the last two days, I have sealed over 100 bags just to put this sealer through its paces. I am in the middle of putting some cooking in the freezer and portioning out some dry goods for our emergency prep stash. I have sealed raw meats, cooked meats, uncooked rice, chicken and veggie stock, beef stew, chili, flour, cheese, butter, and several other items with perfect success.
I made a video demo/review of this but Amazon is not giving me the ability to add photos or video to the review for some reason. I will put that video on YouTube.
Buy this sealer with confidence!
Frederick Murata : Love it !!!!
I've used it only about a dozen times on my homemade beef jerky, left over pizza that I froze, and roast beef. It's so easy to use, and I like that there's no oil needed in the machine Iike some other brands require. I used the marinade function only once by placing a piece of beef in a bowl with some marinade, and covered it with waxed paper. I put too much marinade in the bowl, and when it started to boil, it overflowed. No problem though, very easy cleanup off the stainless steel tub, and I won't have to use as much marinade next time. I like the spacer pad that was provided to decrease the amount of air that has to be vacuumed out. I added a phone book in the chamber to further decrease the air volume, and it works great !!! So far I'm very pleased with my machine, and would recommend it to everyone.
Ron J. : This chamber vac is better than advertised
This is my first chamber vacuum sealer. I absolutely love it. I was a food saver guy with a very bad attitude! I didn’t like paying the high price for the bags and every time I got a good deal on hamburger and went to seal it, the juices would get sucked into the sealer and would not seal right causing me to have to clean it out and use another expensive bag (hence the bad attitude). My Avid Armor chamber vacuum sealer answered all my problems and my wife said my attitude has changed. I don’t know if that is a good thing or not but at least I think I am a much happier person. The quality of this sealer is great and I would highly recommend it.
RunLevelZero : Ideal for quickly sealing all kinds of food
I've been quite happy with my new device. I have to say my first worked twice during the priming process and the third time it stopped working. A quick phone call to customer support and a new one was on the way. Very happy with the level of support. My second one has been working great. Bought several types of meat, boneless and bone in and they all work great. I also used the marinade option with some Ahi tuna and that worked great. Korean BBQ beef (bulgogi) as well as some thin cut pork chops. All these worked very well in the marinating process. I'm glad I got the larger size as a 1.2lb boneless ribeye was a little tight. I don't sous vide but if I do this will work perfectly for that.

Isaac Eckert : Fantastic, Made in the USA and Quick shipping
First of all, let me say I’ve had a Vacmaster VP210 in my wishlist for almost 2 years without pulling the trigger on it. I finally decided this was the season because I was unhappy with the processor who processed my last couple of deer and decided to do 100% of it myself from now on because I like vacuum sealed vs. butcher wrapped. I’ve had a Cabelas brand external sealer for a few years now and it works…. Okay. Took a while to learn how to use it without causing liquids to seep out and get good seals.
Not with this one. I had this out of the box and running with good seals within minutes.
I attached some photos of some pork chops that I had already frozen in a regular bag because I was too lazy to get out the cabelas sealer, cut the bags to the right size, etc etc then pack it all back up. This thing is going to live on my counter and the pre cut bags are cheap enough I plan to use this with all my sous vide as well.
On top of being easy to use, my shipping was set for October 4th-14th and I received it today, 9-30.
Couldn’t be more happy that I went with an American brand vs one made in China now because I know if I need pets they’re right down the street and not across the ocean.
Speaking of parts, every video I watched discussed how it came with an extra seal but I didn’t realize it came with an extra heater bar AND a sample pack of bags. They really shoot his thing to get you right up and running.
Markus : larger chamber
I had the USV20 for some time and liked it. But sometimes I ran out of space on the USV20 so I wanted to try the USV32. I noticed that the USV32 doesn't have the slow lid closing function or accessory port like the USV20. I would say the USV32 has a larger chamber and an older design. My package included some spare parts and the chamber is made out of stainless steel.
WILLIAM WOLFE : High quality attractive machine at a fair price.
I have used a snorkel type sealer for many years, so already had the advantage of using cheaper chamber sealer type bags. The machine, however, takes some technique and practice to use effectively, and does not always produce a reliable seal. Packaging liquids or moist products required freezing the items before vacuum sealing.
I knew the advantages of chamber sealers regarding high moisture sealing, but the size and cost of the commercial offerings did not make sense to me for home use. Avid Armor seems to have resolved these issues with a smallish, well constructed machine that does not look out of place in a residential kitchen.
One unexpected advantage of the chamber sealer that I did not anticipate is the ability to freeze liquids FLAT. This makes freezer storage and organizing much easier, at least for me. I cannot think of another way this would be possible without a chamber sealer.
The machine is quite noisy, but I knew that going in. Certainly not a deal breaker. Overall, I am very happy with this purchase.

Public name : The beast! Great customer service too
This machine has changed the game in the kitchen. Fast marinades, sous vide and most importantly, can crushing! Ok, I only can crushed because I saw others submitting reviews of crushing cans, not important feature.
It was a hard trigger to pull for a rather expensive vacuum sealer but sometimes you have to get the right tools for the job. So far I have only used the marinade feature for jerky on the Traeger and a couple sous vide recipes like poaching a whole chicken but see a bright future for the Avid Armor USV32.
There is a cheaper option but it’s a smaller chamber and we have big plans for this beast. Last and most important note is I had questions about the machine, called the number on the card and spoke to one of the co founders who answered all my questions. Thanks Nina!
SJJ : Amazing Sealer
I was in the process of trying to get a fix on my name brand vacuum sealer when I came across the videos of this unit on YouTube. After watching a few and checking different models and prices, I decided on this one for various reasons (size, quality, price and most of all customer service). I bought the pouches before I purchased the machine and had sent an email to Avid Armor requesting help. Within 45 minutes I had a reply and was worked with until I was satisfied. I ordered pouches from Avid Armor and received them within two days. I ordered the unit from amazon and received it in three days because of a mixup with the shipper. I have been resealing all of the packages done with my previous vacuum sealer as they are all leaking. This sealer is wonderful and easy to use. I sometimes wouldn’t seal something because of the cost of the bags but with this sealer the bags are about a quarter of the price so I’ll be using it more often. If you’re thinking about one all I can say is go for it, you won’t be disappointed. By the way it’s been two weeks and I still haven’t heard back from that other name brand sealer.
