Can it seal wider bags than the heat bars by making 2 passes?

Answer: Yes it can. You might have to pull vacuum from a corner though. Bags are cheap, experiment a little.

The product description says "Seal up 250+ times without stopping" but the text on the cover indicates a 15 sec break is required. Which is correct?

Answer: You will have some stopping point for the most part when you are sealing. I start with cutout pieces to size wanted then it goes very fast from there.

how close to the edge of the bag does it seal? Foodsaver tends to waste an inch and Weston claims 1/4 inch.

CoMama : Don’t waste your money

we’ve owned two Food Saver brand machines, didn’t like them because they won’t seal items with any moisture. We bought the LEM product with high expectations as we pack a lot of fish, meats and sauces. This unit is no better than the Food Saver.
In the LEM product description is says no pressing necessary. We tried to package some ham today and when it wouldn’t seal I called customer support and was told I needed to press down on the lid. When that didn’t work, she told me to press harder.
Don’t waste your money.

I have owned several vacuum sealers and have liked how they have become more compact over the years. When i saw the image of this one, I was intrigued to see how it functions. When I opened the box, I was shocked to see that it does not fold nor can it be operated standing on it's side. It lays flat and takes up more than half of my counter from back to front.

How does it function. Well, I started out by vacuum sealing a few items and it worked as most do. Press the vac/seal button, lock the lid, and it does it's thing. Then, you have to "pop" the lock and open the lid to remove the bag. This unit, unlike any other that I have owned seems to have a fan that runs constantly. I am guessing it is to cool the unit when multiple seals are being done. So, I moved on to simply performing repeated seals to see if the machine could hold up. I did honor the 15 second delay that the manufacturer states on the machine. I did about 15 seals and the machine performed well. However, there is one odd thing that happened. Each time the machine sealed, at the end, the vacuum pump started (fan constantly running). I have never had a machine that used the vacuum pump when only sealing a bag. Not good or bad, it just is a thing that happened every single time I sealed a bag.

Overall - There are smaller vacuum sealers on the market that have a proven track record. This one works great and will handle continuous vacuum/sealing tasks. However, I would recommend this for the person who has a workshop or a large area where this sealer can be left out.

Amazon Customer : Does not remove all of the air.

Works ok for small, flat pieces of meat like fish or chicken tenders. Doesn’t work for larger pieces of meat like roast (which is what we got it for). It doesn’t come close to removing all of the air. You would be just as well to use a plain ziplock bag. The latch is plastic and cheaply made so I’m worried that it will not last long.
