Questions about Anova Culinary ANVS01-US00 Anova Precision Vacuum Sealer, Includes 10 Precut Bags, For Sous Vide and Food Storage
Q:
How do i turn it on
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: Once you close the lid. The button says vacuum / seal, you can push it or push the button in the center to just seal.
Answer: Ensuring the unit is plugged in, Select either Pulse Vac, Vac and Seal, or Seal and the units should come on when one of the buttons is pressed
Answer: After you've inserted your bag and closed the top, press either the vacuum or the seal button.
Answer: Press the power button
Q:
How does it handle a roll of bags? Can you cut them to size in the machine, or do you have to do it manually?
Answer: This machine is very basic. Does not hold rolls, does not have a cutter. Cut bags to length any way you want. Seal one end, fill bag, seal other end. seal and vacuum systems work very well.
Answer: This doesn’t have a built in cutter, nor a place to store a roll of bag. It's really small and has a pulse vacuum feature, so that’s why I bought it.
Answer: DON’T BUY FROM ANOVA! CHECK THE BBB! I BOUGHT THEIR AN500 AND THE SCREW FOR THE CLAMP (PLASTIC) BROKE. TREADS CANNOT BE MATCHED IN HARDWARE STORE! THEY WON’T ANSWER CALLS, NOR EMAILS!AVOID! CHECK BBB. F RATING, TONS OF COMPLAINTS!
Q:
Whats the maximum size bag it can seal
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: 11 inches maximum
Answer: DON’T BUY FROM ANOVA! CHECK THE BBB! I BOUGHT THEIR AN500 AND THE SCREW FOR THE CLAMP (PLASTIC) BROKE. TREADS CANNOT BE MATCHED IN HARDWARE STORE! THEY WON’T ANSWER CALLS, NOR EMAILS!AVOID! CHECK BBB. F RATING, TONS OF COMPLAINTS!
Answer: The width of the food saver rolls of plastic
Q:
I see this sealer is "designed" in ca. is it made in the usa or china?
Answer: I don't know. I do know it's very handy. I buy 50' long rolls of bags that are 15 inches wide. I can seal those just by turning the bag at an angle. I triple seal everything.
Q:
Getting 5 dots on the seal line when sealing without vacuum function. With the vacuum it doesn’t make these dots. Is this Normal?
Answer: i did not get this 5 dots maybe clean seal line or maybe getting hot spots on seal line
Answer: I am not sure, because i never could get vacuum sealer to work...ridiculous, hate i wasted my money on this.
Answer: I haven't had this happen, I would try to contact the company
Q:
Can you mount under the counter?
Answer: I don't think so, but if you're handy you might find a way!
Q:
How to use bag rolls?
Answer: Cut bag to desired size. Triple seal one end. When you put the food in, don't let it touch the area to be sealed. If it touches make sure you dry it well. Then triple seal that end after the food is in.
Q:
Solo sirven los rollos de bolsas marca Anova? O también funciona con otras marcas?
Answer: Funciona con cualquiera marca
Q:
Is this unit large enough for 2-3 cup (16-24 fl oz) portions of stews or soups pre-frozen before vacuum sealing?
Answer: The heating element is 12" wide but the sealing surface (where the bag goes while being sealed) is flat so you aren't limited to bag size. You can purchse pre-cut bags or rolls of uncut bags to accommodate your needs. Make sure the sealing edge is clean and dry.
Answer: Should be fine. I vacuum and seal prior to freezing for better seal.
Answer: The bags that it come with probably are, but it depends on the form factor.
Answer: I would think twice about using this equipment for soups or stews as it could ingest liquid into the pump
Answer: You cannot use liquid with this vacuum sealer.
Q:
Are we doing something wrong because we cannot get the machine to vacuum but just seal?
Answer: Make sure that there is not too much moisture in the bag or it will not properly vacuum. Also sealing edge must be clean and dry.
Q:
Where do I get the bags and what is the size and name of bags? I see other names fir bag but not the anova
Answer: You can use any brand bags with it, that is part of the beauty. I had a large store of bags from my previous machine, and I have since bought several different no-name bags, and they all work fine. I believe Anova does make bags (the machine comes with a few starters), but I've never gone looking for them.
Answer: Any brand of bags made for vaccum sealers will work. Many sizes are available, including a continuous roll that you can cut to size. The width needs to fit the width of the sealing element of your sealer. Search online for further suggestions regarding the use of vaccum seal bags.
Answer: OK, you can use any vacuum bags (Food saver, Seal A Meal, Anova, etc.), and they are available at Amazon and most major retailers (Walmart, etc.) Usually in the canning supply area.
Answer: I see the Anova bags I bought on Amazon are currently unavailable
Q:
Is it possible to use regular freezer Ziplocs with this sealer? Or do you need to use specific bags?
Answer: No, you need to use bags or rolls designed for vacuum sealers
Q:
Can this be used for liquids like soup or sauces?
Answer: Yes. There’s a short video in the description above that shows how to vacuum things with liquids.
Answer: No
Q:
Is this device ul certified as required? just asking because it's an electrical device and sold in the u.s..
Answer: UL certification is not required in the USA. It conforms to UL standards, but it does not appear to be UL certified.
Q:
Tienen la versión para Perú, que es de 220 Voltios?
Answer: No, mi version es 110 Voltios
Q:
Does it includes bags ?
Answer: It comes with some bags but not many
Q:
Are the bags recyclable?
Answer: Yes. Sous vide bags are recyclable
Answer: They are plastic so yea?
Q:
What is the suction power. Food saver vacuums 15-24 inches of mercury according to them
Answer: Claimed as 13in Hg
Answer: Not sure but this is an excellent product - highly recommend it and the company
Q:
Can i make custom baga big enough for an entire brisket flat or whole packer brisket?
Answer: I believe if you have a roll and cut it to length, yes
Answer: No
Q:
In terms of noise, how loud is this saver?
Answer: It's really quiet. I don't know how to measure it, but compared to my old Foodsaver, this one is maybe 1/10 the noise. It's totally silent when just sealing.
Answer: Very silent almost no noise at all
Answer: Not too loud, you can hear it working, but it isn't obnoxious, quieter than mot other vacuum sealers
Answer: Not loud at all in my opinion
Answer: Not bad at all.
Q:
Can bags be washed and reused?
Answer: Yes. They even go in the dishwasher, but I found that they always end up full of water (even if I clip them upside down to the top rack), so need to be air dried afterwards. Hand washing is also possible, with the difficulties of getting into corners and so on that you would expect from a bag closed on three sides. I have found that in the end I prefer disposable bags, which, of course, don't work with this particular device.
Answer: I wouldn't but I guess you could. The size of the bag will get shorter each time you use it though.
Q:
Does not heat. does not seal. Do I have a defective unit or am I missing some type of warm up function?
Answer: The bag should be inserted up to the stop. Then the upper bar needs to be pressed down until it locks. Then press the button, and it it will suck out the air, and seal it when the air has been removed. The light will change to green and you may unlock it and remove the sealed bag. If you follow those directions and it still doesn't work, then the unit is defective, but I doubt it.
Answer: It’s probably defective especially if it doesn’t seal. I had to return the first one and bought the upgraded model.
Answer: If you read and are following the instructions, you have a defective unit. There is no warmup cycle.
Q:
Mine will turn one but when i press any of the buttons it doesn’t do anything. i’ve only used it once. now it won’t work. any ideas on what it may be?
Answer: It could be your bag placement. I thought mine was broke after 2 uses but then I realized it was how I was placing the bag. Too high and it doesn’t vacuum, it just makes an odd noise. If that doesn’t work, I’d call company directly. They were really helpful about getting it sent back to them and getting me a replacement...
Q:
How long do the food last in a sealer bag
Answer: About 2 months seems safe!!!
Q:
Can you mount this vertically on the wall?
Answer: It might be physically possible to do so, but I don't think it would be easy to use that way, as the bag you are trying to seal would be hanging down (and I don't know how that would affect the vacuum function). It takes up little counter space as is, and can be easily stored in a drawer between uses if you don't want to leave it out.
Answer: You may be more creative than I am, but I would say no.
Answer: No
Q:
does it work with jars? i.e. does it have a small opening for a flexible hose?
Answer: Mine, purchased in 2020, does have a short round vertical vacuum inlet that you could slip a hose over. It appears to be cylindrical and not tapered, so you might want a zip-type cable-tie to endure a good seal.
Answer: No, it doesn’t. It just seals bags.
Q:
What is the maximum bag width usable?
Answer: I have no problem using 11 inch bags.
Q:
Does anybody know the input voltage ? can it take 110v and 240v so it can be used overseas ? or do amazon automatically ship the correct version ?
Answer: 110v. 220-240v will need be purchased from our International Amazon stores.
Q:
Mainly interested in this to seal normal freezer bags. Do I need to use the specific bags or will it work with various types?
Answer: Not sure what you mean by "normal freezer bags." Other brands of vacuum sealing-type can be used.
Answer: I would not recommend it. The bags are different material and will melt. We returned our machine after a week because it no long sucked. Refund was kindly give.
Answer: I have only used these the roll so I can make any size. I love this machine.
Q:
Is there any wait/cool down time between bag sealing?
Answer: No
Q:
Does this have the ability to vacuum seal mason jars with a hose attachment?
Answer: Mine is absolutely useless for any purpose. Don't buy it, poor design and non functioning item.
Q:
Does this sealer work with vacuum chamber pouches? Specifically the VacMaster 40726 3-mil pouches?
Answer: I have had great luck with Nutri-Lock Vacuum Sealer Bags and they are much less expensive.
Q:

Q:
What is the suction power. Food saver vacuums 15-24 inches of mercury according to them
Answer: Claimed as 13in Hg
Answer: Not sure but this is an excellent product - highly recommend it and the company
Q:
Can you use the tvacuum air pulse without sealing the bag? I’d like to use reusable silicone bags so I don’t aleaysbwant the seal function
Answer: there are three function buttons on this machine... Vacuum & seal, seal, and pulse vacuum. I am not aware of the ability to simply vacuum without sealing as I think the vacuum pressure would release after opening the machine. I would save my money, and try to push out all of the air from a self-sealing bag.
Answer: Yes you can. The vacuum sealer has three functions, each with a separate button: one for vacuum only, one for seal only, and one for vacuum and seal. As you suggest, very handy if if
Q:
Can you use other brands of bags/roll or only Anova bags/rolls?
Answer: Yes as long as it's a vacuum bag.
Q:
will food saver brand bags work with this sealer?
Answer: Yes
Q:
Are the 10 vacuum seal bags that come with this product BPA free?
Answer: Yes.
Q:
Is there a 220-volt version available, to use in Europe?
Answer: not sure. You can use a converter
Q:
Can one cut off the top of a Ziploc Freezer bag and use that or do you need the special bags?
Answer: Sadly no, the vacuum sealing bags have 2 different sides, you'll see that one side is a different texture that assists the vacuum... Also if you use any other bag it might ruin the machine... Which I wouldn't want to risk
Q:
Can i use it to seal marinated products?
Answer: Yes. Just make sure not to exceed 30% of the bag with liquid and that everything is at least room temp.
Answer: It's not recommended, no.
Q:
Will this work with 16in vacuum sealer bags?
Q:
how safe is it to cook in plastic bag? are the plastic bags approved for cooking in high temperatures?
Answer: I'm not sure if these are approved for high temp cooking, but I would not recommend it. Even in a microwave they can melt. And melted plastic is never pleasant, and will give a funny odor/taste to food.
Answer: The bags are made for this application, and the temperatures involved, are not high. That's the whole point of the system. It does not allow over cooking.
Answer: Hi there. Well, the bags are very thick; however, I don't know of any approval for cooking at 130degrees for fish and it's perfectly fine. It would be nice to know. Who would approve this?
Answer: Zip locks are bpa free but personally I switch to vacuum sealing bags for higher Temps (like over 140F). It isn't an issue until you get to higher temps in the plastic bags.
Answer: The vacuum sealed bags are designed for the water temperature and approved for food
Q:
Where can I purchase a replacement gasket? After only a few months it isn’t sealing as it rolled over on itself
Answer: I do not have a clue. Maybe Anova online
Q:
the instructions are not clear. i place the bag &close/lock it. i can't get it to vacuum and seal. i hear & see vacuum but it isn't sealing. why?
Answer: Are you sure it's locked in? The vacuum area is that funny shaped black foam with the tiny black tube sticking up.
Q:
What power does it have? watts or Litres per second.
Answer: Watts
Q:
Can this just be used for food storage?
Answer: It can be used for anything you want to seal in a plastic bag. I use mine for food, but also for storage of silverware (to prevent tarnishing).
Answer: Yes, please put it in the fridge after you pack it.
Answer: I would think so, I use it for a lot of things
Answer: Yes sure
Answer: Yes it can.
Answer: Yes
Product reviews of Anova Culinary ANVS01-US00 Anova Precision Vacuum Sealer, Includes 10 Precut Bags, For Sous Vide and Food Storage
Alisa : Better on dry ingredients wet ones are tricky
Small and compact. A must if you are starting to sous vide. Spray at completely removing all the air. My only complaint is that if you were doing a dish with liquids sometimes it sucks the liquid up making it a wet seal. However I think this is an issue with all of the sous vide Steelers. So for now I recommend this one but if another one comes out that is better I would go with that

Jimmy : Weak product; Disappointed
We used this product 3 times and the foam piece that creates the seal for the vacuum came unglued.
The sealer is weak and routinely leaves air pockets and does not seal the bags properly.
Disappointed in the cheap quality and poor performance of this product.
the good neighbor : Great starter vacuum sealer
If you're thinking to start getting into sous-vide cooking and need a vacuum sealer, I'd really recommend this. The small design makes it easy to store and because it's so light, you won't mind moving it around either. Suction power is great especially for the size. If you compare with a bigger and stronger vac-sealer, it might be weaker, but it still delivers really well.
This also works well if you need to store things like coffee beans which doesn't last long in a non vacuum container.
Just starting to get into sous vide cooking and is quite pleasant with the results so far. A very worthwhile investment. Would definitely recommend this to my friends looking to buy a vac-sealer
D. leung : Easy to use, smallish.
Bought together with the ANOVA Micro Immersion Circulation Heater (Sous Vide) for less than $100 during a sale so it was a great value. The unit's size limits the bags that can be used. Large cuts of meat, e.g., T-bone/porterhouse may not fit into the bags. The instructions doesn't emphasize this strong enough: make sure the content is really dry because water/moisture would be sucked out. Any raw meat juice would be sucked out requiring disinfecting of the entire unit.
james : Works....kind of
Even after you latch the sides you still have to basically mash the top down to actually get it have enough suction to finish the vacuum/seal cycle.
DA : I've had several of these
I've had several vac sealers over the years but this is the simplest and most compact and works well.
Brad : Easy and convenient
I really can't complain here. I'm glad that I bought this anova to go along with my sous vide. Meal prep is a piece of cake now. The device is very straightforward and easy to use/store away.
Nathaniel R Willbur : Good value a little narrow
I bought this off the treasure truck. Overall it is a good value. It is easy to use. The suction is good. It seals well, even slightly wet items. My only complaint is that it is a little narrow. Fitting large pieces of fish take multiple bags. I have had a lot of time to use it but the value is good. Cutting things into smaller sizes does help with portions but it is a little annoying. Overall it works well and has helped us improve our food savings.
Joan : Big improvement on Foodsaver
This small simple appliance just works. It's much quieter than the competition, and unlike many models of Foodsaver I've tried over the years, it's foolproof -- the vacuum feature never fails. It works with all brands of bags I've tried on it, and will even seal up opened chip bags and the like. I particularly like the pulse vacuum feature, which allows you to evacuate most of the air from a bag without crushing soft items like baked goods.
JJB : Terrible User Manual
This is my first vacuum sealer and at first glance it appears to be useful in sealing meat for the freezer. Time and repeated use will tell how fresh it keeps food destined for the freezer. Two very annoying issues with the product. I simply hate single illustrated use directions. Pictures are not necessarily worth 1000 words, especially when providing instruction on how to use a product. The other very annoying issue is the lack of any very visible feedback when the sealing feature is complete. The lighted ring on the sealing button is so faint that it is difficult to know when the sealing is complete. Also, the button is not continuously lit when sealing is in progress. The button is illuminated briefly and then turns off but then a few seconds later the button is again illuminated briefly. Not sure when sealing happens, immediately upon pressing sealing button or after button is illuminated the second time.
Mike Y. : Pulse vacuum functionality is great!
I was very excited for this ever since it came out, and it definitely lives up to the hype! The pulse suction capability allows me to control how much vacuum I want to apply to a bag, and I've even been able to vacuum seal some meats with liquid marinades because of it!
Clifton Pappas : Invest in something better
I purchased this hoping that since I got the Anova sous vide that the vacuum sealer would be just as good. That wasn't the case in this product. There is a foam seal to help trap in the air. Mine got wet ever so slightly and the glue came off. From that point on it never worked the same. The drip is not removable either. I ended up purchase a Foodsaver vacuum sealer
brandonarose : Perfect every time
I have never owned a vacuum sealer before this but I am very happy with the one I got. This is so simple to use and has made my sous vide much easier to use.
GavsGoodGrub : Well balanced razor sharp & looks great
Delivered in stylish box that I still use for storage of the knife , light and easy to manoeuvre I’ve found it a very versatile knife for the chopping dicing and julienne of vegetables and slicing steaks and carving tritip straight off the grill .. great all purpose chefs knife for homecookes that looks great at same time
Teevtee : VERY low power
I purchased this to replace a Foodsaver unit that finally stopped working after many years. I liked that this was a small and easy to store unit and that it was backed by a major company (with a good warranty). All of that is fine, it loosk nice, it generally is simple to use, HOWEVER the suction is so poor that 50% of the time or moew it ismply fails to remove the air from the bag.
I have tried all different brands of bagsand nothing seems to help, it is simply under-powered. I would NOT purchase this unit again. It's ONE job is to remove the air and vaccum seal bags and it faisl at doing that a minimum of half the time. I now need to replace it with something else and have in essense thrown away $70. VERY unsatisfied.
X. HE : Making food storage and prep easy for sous vide
I use this for sous vide. It makes prep, storage and cooking so easy. The downside is the plastic bag usage... I would love to be more environmental friendly... Not exactly sure how yet...
JayEff : Disappointing, doesn't do the one thing it's supposed to do
It neither vacuums nor seals. Bags are full of air and the seal is not tight enough to keep in a small bit of liquid. Disappointed with this
The Earl of Lemongrab : Pretty great (except for the cord)
This fulfills its intended purpose very well. It draws a good vacuum and seals the bags really well. It’s pretty quiet and it’s quick. About the only thing that irks me is that the power cord is fairly stiff doesn’t wrap up easily. I have plenty of kitchen electrics that do so easily. This one seems like they went with a harder less pliable plastic insulation material. Other than that the sealer works fine.
the good neighbor : Great starter vacuum sealer
Patrick Mingarelle : Seals well! Definitely an upgrade
My original food sealer finally went. I did some online research on the top rated sealers, this is one of two with top recommendations for home use. I agree, a very good product. Compact, easy to store, yet it has the power of the larger units. I do not do a high volume of sealing, but I do us a sealer at least once a week. So far, this one has help up very well, it is super quiet, and seals tight, every time. My older model from another manufacturer often did not seal, requiring two to three seal attempts. So far, the Anova has sealed perfectly every first seal.
joseph pascale : Works well but not easy to use.
This product works well if you can line up the bag correctly which is not easy. The suction nozzle is in the corner of the machine and it is extremely hard to place the bag correctly to get good suction and seal. I will be looking for a product that works as well but is easier to use.
Karen Brack : worked great until it didn't work
I used the devise for wrapping foods bound for the freezer and for sous vide cooking. After low to moderate use over about 4-5 months, it broke. It no longer vacuums and seals. It will do either individually, but not together, which is the whole purpose.
Average Homeowner : Vacuum suction stopped working
The product stopped working after I used it 6-8 times. The vacuum suction is anemic. Don’t Buy this product
Summer : a bit more than I wanted to spend
Nice little machine for infrequent home use. Very easy to operate and more substantial than the $45 unit I returned. All in all I am happy with this vacuum sealer. Guess you get what you pay for.
Cris : Great for sous vide and storage.
Excellent quality and love the small footprint. After more than 10 years owning a food saver, it gave up on me so bought this model and have been very pleased. I can still use the food saver bags from my old model. Great purchase.
J.D. II : Game Changer
Wow...best way to cook meat. Literally put the meat in a vacuumed sealed bag...set the temp and forget. The best part is cleanup. Simply pour out the water!
Estee : Fits perfectly into small spaces and is easy to store
I was excited to return from vacation and try my new sealer. Sadly, it seals well but does not vacuum. Tried 5 times, but the air would rush back into the bag even when I used the vacuum and seal feature. Used by itself, the vacuum feature sucked most of the air out, but the bag would immediately refill with air between the time I took my finger off the button and pressed the seal button.
I'm disappointed. I wanted to create space in my freezer, instead, I have puffy sealed bags of food.
N M Woodhouse : Every house needs one!
I am a small household - just me. This saves me all sorts of Cash on food. I can make meals and have it fresh a week or more later. Keeps that half avocado or banana or apple fresh far longer! Cereals, pastries (gotta be careful on those - this has a setting where you can control the suction - LOVE THAT!!) I use it for all sorts of stuff. Also - I don't have a lot of space and this takes up very little space so I can have it out all the time. Highly recommend
cbuck : Vacuum Stopped after 10 uses.
Originally thought it was a good buy, but the vacuum function stopped after only 10 uses. Very frustrating. The trouble shooting didn’t work.
Kindle Customer : This Anova is an excellent product
My husband enjoys doing sous vide and using this product at our primary home, so we ordered another to use at our mountain home as well.
P : **UPDATED AFTER 1.5 YEARS - Exactly what you need to vacuum seal -
***UPDATE after 1.5 years My review below stands, this thing still works great. I was planning a major kitchen remodel when I bought this and thought I would go with a built in vacuum sealer. Then corona virus hit and we paused. After using this sealer and beginning my remodel again, I decided to stick with this and save my money on the built in one. I can buy 25 of these for that price and this will still work better. You just can't go wrong with the simplicity of this thing. -------------- So there are lots of these things out there, I am on my third, as I sous vide a lot. First was a fairly basic food saver, which died after many years of use. I looked for a similar unit, but they are now expensive and big. Decided to go with a highly reviewed one on Amazon, what a piece of junk, lasted 4 months and it was slow, with way too many things trying to happen. Total waste, when what you need is something that sucks our the air and seals the bad. I don't to store a roll of plastic, I use premade bags, I don't need a special cutter, I have scissors (for the few times I use a roll).
On to the Anova, this thing is simple. Three buttons, vac and seal, seal and pulse the vacuum. It is light, small and easy to maneuver. For bags with liquid, you can lock the lid, hold the sealer up in the air and pulse in one hand, get the air out and then seal it manually. I just works, it isn't trying to do anything other than what it was intended for. I wish I had found this one first, I wouldn't have had to write a bad review about the crappy big monstrosity I had.
Charles Feinberg : A VERY IMPORTANT DETAIL
2nd unit. Sent back the first one because it would not seal. No problem with the company nor Amazon. Same problem with the 2nd one. The instructions that came with the unit are terrible and that’s the problem. After reviewing numerous videos on YouTube we found the problem. When you push or place the vacuum bag into the unit you MUST NOT PUSH IT ALL THE WAY THROUGH. There are two black plastic tabs that stick up inside the unit where you push in your bag. MAKE SURE YOU DONT PUSH YOUR BAG PAST THEM. Your bag must just touch them. Then everything works like a dream. 5 Stars for the unit and 1 Star for the directions. Worth every cent.
Brad : Easy and convenient
I really can't complain here. I'm glad that I bought this anova to go along with my sous vide. Meal prep is a piece of cake now. The device is very straightforward and easy to use/store away.
donna e stewart : Does the job
I bough this to seal frozen food for storage and it does an okay job. The air extraction is not as strong but what can you expect for a home model. I seal the meats in plastic wrap before placing in sealing bag and I can only hope I get no freezer burn. Instruction not very good but trial and error got me proficient with the bag length and how to seal correctly. Too much items does not create a good suction power.
May : Ewww. Zero star!!
I received USED broken product!! I’m so disappointed!! So nasty!! Of course I returned it!!
JOHN L. : Powerful in a compact size
I was very skeptical about vaccum sealer, but I saw this one on sale so I gave it a try. This thing works very well. You can use any vaccum bags they sell on Amazon. I use the cut to fit rolls and it's perfect because it seals and vacuum. It's a very compact unit also.
Josie Mora : Did not work never got hot use all the bags and nothing
Didn’t work never got hot and didn’t like it
Ima Reader : Stopped working after 6 weeks
I purchased this on August 29th, and the vacuuming function has already stopped working. I have always been an Anova fan, but this is vacuum sealer pure garbage. Even when it worked, the suction was slow and cantankerous.
Deborah : Works great!
I have only used a couple of time to split out chicken or steak to smaller packages. It works great once you figure it out. It was hard to understand the picture instructions and once I figured out I had to close the top hard until it clicks, it worked well. I do like it and recommend it.
brandonarose : Perfect every time
I have never owned a vacuum sealer before this but I am very happy with the one I got. This is so simple to use and has made my sous vide much easier to use.
M. Chapman : Great vacuum sealer
I have been very happy with my purchase. Very simple to use and can be used with generic bags. This model takes up less space than my previous sealer and was half the cost. Highly recommend this model!
james : Works....kind of
Even after you latch the sides you still have to basically mash the top down to actually get it have enough suction to finish the vacuum/seal cycle.

Matthew : A fine vacuum sealer that broke in less than a year
This was a fine vacuum sealer for the price, but it broke in less than a year. The foam that is meant to create the seal started peeling off of the vacuum sealer. This was after basically daily use for less than a year, but still not something I expected from an Anova product. If you can get this on a deal and don't plan to use it daily then I would recommend purchasing this product. Otherwise, if you're looking for a vacuum sealer that will last and will see frequent use, keep looking.
Mike K. : Worked at first, broke quickly.
After several uses, the vacuum and seal function stopped working. It'll vacuum but then never seal. This means by the time I press the seal button, some air gets back into the bag. Not impressed with this model.
MWCraft : Works As Expected
We have had a FoodSaver vacuum sealer for more years than I can remember and it is still going strong but I still jumped at the opportunity to review this Anova model. If you are familiar with vacuum sealers, this one works pretty much just like every other one you have used and has three preset buttons that make it easy to operate.
I used several of the included precut bags to seal up various items (pork ribs, beef brisket, etc.) and everything worked as expected. Then I cut my own bags from a roll I bought at Cabelas years ago and it worked just fine sealing those up as well.
Other reviewers have gone into detail describing how it operates so, I won’t belabor those points here. What I will say is, it seems to work just fine for vacuum sealing food or other items in plastic bags.
As far as the quality, it seems lightweight but well built and capable of getting the job done. In my estimation, it did just as good a job of sealing bags as my old FoodSaver. When you really think about it, the functions it performs (sealing one end of a bag, sucking the air out of the other end of the bag) are pretty simple. For that purpose, pretty much any vacuum sealer will do.
If I were actually in the market for a vacuum sealer, I would do my research to determine: 1) which were the 6-7 cheapest models available; 2) which of those seem to be the best quality and buy that one. Then, I would spend money on getting the best (roll or precut) bags I could. It’s the bag that determines whether your food will be any good after 6 months in the freezer.
So for now I recommend this one but if another one comes out that is better I would go with that
Amazon Customer : Suction is lacking
The suction on is is Very weak, but it tries, and since it gets some air out, we can seal it and use it in the souve, but don't use liquids!!! And Don't plan on using to conserve food.
