Answer: Baitcaster reels are not recommended for Saltwater use. Baitcasters are primarily used for freshwater species. Yes, you can use them for Saltwater, but saltwater corrosion will destroy bearings fast.

Answer: Hi, yes you can use it in salt water, or brackish water. You just have to clean it after using it with fresh water. And make sure to continue the lube schedule.

Answer: This reel is perfect for freshwater species like bass, I suggest a 7' medium or medium heavy rod for this reel. Do not use this reel for Saltwater fishing. Rod price is dependent on your budget, but most premium rods are around $70 - $100, or more.

I ordered this reel believing it was made in America. Lews is reported to be an American company, what a disappointment to learn their products are made in China. There are more Chinese made products in America, than there are American made products. no thank you. I will keep this reel, just long enough to burn it. Other than that, it is a really nice reel. NOT!!!

Probably a decent reel but you are paying way to much for looks. For this price lews offers many a good reel on an aluminium frame that are much more durable a performance oriented such as the speed spool lfs mp. There no reason a graphite framed reel should be over $100.
