Purchased this to weigh the hogs I was butchering, and will keep it around for a fish scale. The scale performed well when placed between our pulley system and our gambrel. When raising it with a load on, if you pause in motion for more than about a second, it locks on and holds that as the maximum weight, even if what you are weighing is only partially off the ground. Once we figured that out, we had good success with using it. It will display a negative weight, so you can hang something, zero the scale, and then remove the item to get the weight that way as well. Decent product for the money. If you are looking for a scale that will handle more than 100 lbs, this is a pretty good choice.

Perfect scale to keep on our boat. Defaults to KG so can be annoying to switch over in the heat of the moment when you catch a big ol'halibut but the quality is good and accurate weight. Not waterproof so I'd keep it in the cabin or tackle box. I would buy again and recommend to friends.

So I'm not a fisherman. I use this to tell how strong my bands are at which heights I'll be lifting them to in my workouts. Really lets me know for sure how much extra weight I am adding. Other scales don't go up as high as this one, or start to get way out of my price range. Really nice addition to my gym and to my own piece of mind.
