Answer: So, it seems to be made of maybe 7lb mono line. I really like this net for catching shiners and smelt. My advice is to soak the net in soapy water overnight to soften it up before the first use. Check YouTube.

Netting tares very easily. If it gets hung even on a little stick, it drips so easy. Poor quality. You get what you pay for. Spend more money on a cast net. Its litterly a waist of money

I got this net as a present from my daughter really hated to tell her it left rust stains in my boat . Lead is not magnetic and should not rust even after i rinsed it off with fresh water that is what I do with all of my gear after a day of SW fishing. She will be returning it . This might be a alright net for fresh water but make sure you dry it well after use is all I can say . V/R Nick
