Answer: So, it seems to be made of maybe 7lb mono line. I really like this net for catching shiners and smelt. My advice is to soak the net in soapy water overnight to soften it up before the first use. Check YouTube.

Darrell Bizzell : Good looks can be deceiving.

This is a nice looking cast net but it has several flaws. The monofilament used is very small. It appears that the mono is about four pound test. Where the lines attach to the bottom of the swivel there are small loops that occasionally hang up on the net causing the net to fail to close properly and you lose most of the bait. This caused one of the monofilament in the net to break near the top and caused a big hole in the net near the top which causes the loss of baitfish. The mesh looks more like 1/2" than 3/8" as advertised and the weights will go through the mesh and tangle the net frequently. Only had this net two days and it is practically useless now. Like I said, good looking net but I won't buy another and suggest you should pass on this one.

8' net: Too much time spent detangling it after each use due to the lack of quality workmanship. The weights rusted after the first use and stained a large portion of the rope and bucket. I gave it away during the third use.

$40 for a 4 foot net that was made from small poundage mono . But the kicker was the weights were made from something other than lead . I prefer my cast net to drop around what I am catching not let them escape . I wondering who actually thought this was a good idea .

Netting tares very easily. If it gets hung even on a little stick, it drips so easy. Poor quality. You get what you pay for. Spend more money on a cast net. Its litterly a waist of money
