Answer: I have a 9000 and have 300 yards of 50lb Suffix braid and a top shot another 100 yards of Hercules 50lb braid so at the moment 400yrd and there is still room. This is all very much line dependent, different manufacturing has different diameters and strengths. The 50lb Suffix is 12lb diameter and the Hurcules 50lb is about 14lb diameter.

I didn’t like that new reel was making sound when I was Reeling 2 lb fish I had Use lubricants on a new item and i was use for right hand while information given about both hands so I don’t know what else to say !

The reel I received for Christmas was purchased on Amazon. Supposed to be a Hiumi 6000. Seems to be excellent quality. After doing some research. These reels are what is known as unbranded. If you search Alibab or other sites like that. These are made by a host of companies and can be purchased in large quantities under the name MX6000. The box said metal reel. That's it. And name is different than on the reel, its not Hiumi. I'm telling you all this for 2 reasons. First, if you receive one and the drag is not working correctly. Check to make sure drag washers installed in right order. This a fairly common issue. And easily fixed. Second, it can be a crap shoot on quality. Depends on who made it. So many produced worldwide. That's why I instructed my Dad to buy on Amazon. If I get a bad one send it back. The one I received has very nice blue metal flake paint. Very smooth. Casts a mile. No vibration or noise. I recommend the 6000. Spooled it with 30 lb braid. 250 yards and still way more room. In my research, have found this reel selling for 300$ and more. It's not a bad deal. Hope this helps.

Update. i purchased a second i liked it so much. Drag issue can also be cause by cross threading drag spool. Be careful when you reinstall. Second one looks the same, very nice. Not as smooth as first. When i say not as smooth, its still way better than my Battle 2. And the first one is like butter. What I am using in the DE Surf... Hiumi 6000 on a St Croix MOJO surf MMF 9ft and 10 ft. Love my rigs. Remember, invest in the best rod you can afford, reel in salt water not going to last forever.
Been several years now. And both reels work fine. No corrosion. Dont use as much as I used to. Switched to bait runners for surf duty. Tired of running after pole heading for surf. However, they still work and function as good as day i purchased.
Update 5/2021. Both reels show no corrosion! Still function perfectly. No cheap pot metal. No signs of corrosion period. Only thing i can add. If you type that cant trouble shoot, fix minor issues. Don't by unbranded products. Drag issues is easily fixed if you can trouble shoot. Drag on one wasn't right after I cleaned and reassembled. Was cross threaded. Also noticed washers where not in correct order on another when it arrived. Reel is built like a tank. I will be using these 3 miles out from Indian River inlet. Flounder, Sea Bass, Strippers Perfect for that type duty. I recommend with the understanding that you might get one that needs a little luv. Or if something you cant fix. Its Amazon. Return and order another! G
