Questions about Daiwa Legalis LT Spinning Reel
Q:
Does this reel have a screw in handle?
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: It does, reversible.
Answer: Yes
Q:
What's the "D" stands for?
Answer: In the Daiwa product model lexicon, "D" stands for "Deep Spool, "C" for "Compact Body," and "XH" for a Gear Ratio 6.0:1 or greater.
Answer: I believe it stands for “DigiGear”, which is what Daiwa calls the internal gearing system in this line.
Q:
What one is the1000
Q:
Witch choice for the 1000 version?
Q:
Is the 1000 ok for saltwater?
Answer: The 1000 is the smallest model. You would have to be very diligent to thoroughly rinse it soon after each trip.
Answer: I've got the Legalis in the 1000 size but really not a big fan of its quality. I also have the Diawa Revros and it's a much better reel in my opinion.
Answer: This is not a saltwater reel.
Answer: Disassemble the reel and completely flood the inside with corrosion X or CRC 6-56, maybe even WD40. I did this and had good success in salt. Even flooded with that fluid as described, the reels work smooth as if new out of the box. If you don't do this, the parts inside will rust, the guts inside are not stainless.
Answer: Just rinse with fresh water when you get home and it'll be just fine.
Answer: No
Answer: Freshwater only, perfect for trout fishing and pond fishing.
Q:
What does one size multi mean? What size is it actually and what gear ratio?
Answer: When i bought it it was the the 1000 size. When you select that option it will say 1000 size at the bottom.
Answer: I don’t have that information available to me
Q:
how much 4 pound braided line will the 1000 size handle
Answer: It could probably take up to 300yrds but I'd only use about 75-100yrds
Q:
what is one size mean? what exact size am I buying? this is stupid!
Answer: My GUESS would be the 2500. I have four of the 4000's and use for bay fishing, mainly speckled trout...very good reels.
Q:
what is ball bearing ratio on size1000
Answer: 5.2:1
Q:
What one is the 1000?
Answer: The Legalis comes in different sizes. I have them in the 1000 series and the 4000 series. You will just have to choose the size. For what it's worth check out the Diawa Revros, I have them also and think they are better quality.
Answer: The 1000 is the smallest version of the model. Good for small streams and lakes/ponds for Trout, panfish, etc. If you’re looking to go for larger game fish like Steelhead or larger bass I’d go with the 2500 or 3000. I’ve never had any experience with the 4000.
Product reviews of Daiwa Legalis LT Spinning Reel
Thomas Head : A Great Reel
My favorite reel. Paired with on older model troutslayer rod from Leland's Lures. Light, rugged, and easy on the eyes. I love it.
Audioman : Daiwa plus TFO = unbeatable ultralight trout combo
Recently purchased a Daiwa Legalis 1000 reel, along with a Temple Fork Outfitters (TFO) 7’ trout/panfish rod, and can honestly state that this is the finest ultralight trout fishing combo I have ever used in my lifetime. I loaded the reel with Nanofil 6 lb. line, rigged a leader with a size 10 egg Gamakatsu red hook, attached a Berkley Mice Tail, and the rainbows and tiger trout have been running me ragged ever since!
I fish exclusively for trout here in Utah, and have never used gear that was this impressive in so many ways: the reel gives you most of the best technologies Daiwa offers at a ridiculously affordable price. Further, the spool holds 160 yds. of 6 lb. line, which is more than ample, is extremely light, casts a country mile, and is as smooth as anything in its class - and easily rivals reels costing twice the price.
The TFO rod is also sold on Amazon and is the finest bargain I’ve seen. For $89.99 you get a rod whose design was overseen by none other than Gary Loomis, and is manufactured in South Korea. This is a plus as the Koreans are superb at rod manufacturing. The casting action, feel, balance, and overall quality of this rod is incredible and easily compares with G. Loomis ultralight rods costing twice or more.
Together, this combo is the most accurate and capable ultralight setup I have; not only is it my “go-to” setup, but the standard for everything I will consider from now on. You can buy both on Amazon for $150; at this price, you would be hard-pressed to come up with anything else that is even close.
Happy ultralight trout adventures my friends!
Johannes Konert : In dem Preissegment absolut super!

emilio : Super ligero
Buen carrete
jason sensat : Good All Around
Very nice reel. Smooth action with a very comfortable grip. The casting capabilities is fantastic. Even throwing drop shot on light gear you can get a good distance cast every time.
Fisherman from Lapland : Great improvement
I own many Daiwa Legalis and Exceler reels of orevious generation (non-"LT"). The new generation of these reels is a nice improvement to the previous models. Not only that the weight is lower but overall operation seems much smoother and more reliable, and the price is still reasonable. Highly recommended!
Will : Absolute beast
Smooth as butter, drag is smooth, I catch bass, bluefish, sea bass and flounder no problem. Drag is very strong
Walter Sordi : Felice
Velocissimo ad arrivare e perfetto
Danny M. : Diawa spinning reel
I put a Daiwa Legalis 1000 on an Okuma Kokanee rod with 6lb line, and the light weight combo is a lot of fun catching small fish. I liked the Legalis so much, I bought a 2500 and put it on a Lamiglas Infinity Ultra light weight 7'6" rod for trout and steel head. Both reels function as well as I can expect. The prices are acceptable to me, and for $120 on one and $200 with the other set up, I am very pleased. My buddy has a set up that cost him $400, and it is better, but not twice the cost better.
