Place food in the bag. Make sure you do not overfill the bag to avoid juices and food spilling onto the appliance.
Step 4: Vacuum seal!

Questions about Chefman RJ45-Black Vacuum sealer
Q:
Will this use any brand of bags?,or is it just excluse to its own bags,,Thanks
Answer: It uses any bags. I bought the cheap 100 foot roll you cut to size. Work very well
Q:
Can this item be returned if we are not satiafied
Answer: I returned my first item when it did not work correctly; just contact the company for restrictions and directions on how to ask for a refund or replacement.
Q:
Should the cutter have blades? Maybe mine is missing. I couldn't start the cut on my bags.
Answer: No blades...looks like a small piece of metal
Answer: Yeah, mines terrible too. I just use scissors.
Q:
Does it have the ability to connect to vacuum tube for jars?
Answer: No
Q:
Is it 220v
Answer: Yes it is 220v
Answer: No. It uses a regular home outlet. It works well.
Q:
is the driptray removable for cleaning
Answer: No. It is a recessed area, not a tray. I leave enough room at the end of the "bag" so it doesn't leak. It is not a fancy appliance but it gets the job done at an affordable price.
Q:
Where is this item made?
Answer: Barry the buttons on mine quickly wore out to where you had to push them at an angle. Not sure where they are made.
Answer: China
Q:
The cutter doesn't work. After i sealed one end of the bag, i cant open the machine. Can't find help anywhere. Completely useless.
Answer: Hi Kathryn. I am sorry to hear that your product is not working! Each Chefman product has a 1 Year Limited Warranty. If you would like to activate your warranty, please contact amazonteam@chefman.com. Thank you!
Answer: I don't use the cutter, but the buttons to open it are the each side
Answer: Two buttons, one one each side of the machine releases the lid.
Q:
Do you need to buy a pot? Or does it come with it?
Answer: Pot? Does not come with A POT! don't think you need one this is a Vacuum sealer. Sorry! I don't follow.
Q:
will iy seal bags that are open???frozen vegs and such???can i resaen open bags?
Answer: I have resealed the bags. I had a bag full of meatballs and took some out to thaw and resealed the bag twice already.
Answer: I honestly haven't tried it yet, my kitchen is under construction:(:(
Q:
will this seal frozen foods ok?
Answer: Only used this to sous vide so far so not sure. Sorry!
Answer: Yes it does. No problem.
Answer: Yes it will.
Q:
Can this bags be placed in water to boil its contents
Q:
Is it automatic or do I have to press and hold to seal?
Answer: You lock the side latches and push the seal buttom to seal one end. Push both side buttons to release. Do the same thing when ready to vaccuum seal by pushng the vac and seal button. Very easy and very quick. Not like my old sealer that I had to hold during the whole process.
Q:
Bought a different brand of bags - now it still vacuums but will not "auto-switch" to seal as it previously did. Help?
Answer: I dont think it has anything to do with the bags. My back me sealer will sometimes do the same thing. It will vaccume the bag and not seal. What i do is, when it is acting up like that I push "cancel" then "seal" very quickly and it will seal the package shut and keep the vaccume.
Answer: I have never been able to remove air and then seal on my unit. I even sent the first one back and they sent a new one. However, if I try to vacuum, it either shuts off almost immediately without actually vacuuming any air out or it keeps on applying the vacuum until I shut it off. If I really need to remove all the air from something, I push vacuum and, if it removes air, cancel the vacuum, leave the bag in place, and push seal but it won't go automatically to seal.
Answer: I bought some differnt bags also. You have to line them up just right.
Answer: Mine quit 3 days after it arrived. Junk sent it back
Answer: Mine quit working after a year it is now trash.
Q:
How wide bags this machine can seal if the machine is 15" can I seal a 12" bag? Thanks, Rudy.
Answer: I believe the biggest bag it will take is 11 inches.
Q:
How much sucking power does it have? How much air does it remove?
Answer: I use this vacuum sealer all the time and it does the job well. Sucks out all the air and seals the bag. I also use it for sealing vegie bags, etc. I woulld be careful doing burgers or soft meat like that as it will smash it down. I just cancel all the suction before it can do that and seal it.
Answer: It is pretty powerful. Removes all the air.
Answer: It will remove all of the air, if the bag is placed in there correctly. On the times when it goes directly from vacuum to seal without removing all the air, I'm not sure what the problem is but most of the time, it will suck the air out until it is obvious there is none left.
Answer: It removes all the air the plastic is tight around the food.
Answer: It's pretty good. It does leave a very small pocket or two of air but that's it.
Q:
Does it seal wet food
Answer: IF there is too much liquid it will pull the liquid up and out the bag....but you can cancel when you see this happening and hit the seal button. Wont take all the air out but will give a good seal. If the meat is just moist then you should have no issue and can vac/seal.
Q:
What is the voltage?
Answer: 120VAC
Q:
How many watts?
Answer: 110 watts
Answer: 110 watts
Q:
does this have the capacity to hold a 50' roll or would I have to buy 25' rolls?
Answer: I found it doesn’t really hold any rolls. Your supposed to put the roll up through the back of the unit and use the slide cutter to cut the plastic bag but I tried this and the cutter doesn’t work well at all so I just cut the bags with scissors and seal it that way. It vacuum seals well and works like it’s supposed to, just doesn’t hold rolls. I hope this answered your question.
Answer: I bought this as a Christmas present so I really can’t help you.
Q:
Why vacuum seal not working?
Answer: Try wiping it down.
Answer: Are you sure it is not defective?
Q:
Does it come with bags?
Answer: Yes it comes with a roll of bag material
Answer: Yes. But we mainly use it to reseal bags. Chips, bread, etc
Answer: Yes, it comes with one roll.
Answer: A small roll. By time you are comfy with the process you will need to buy some. They are readily available, and not very expensive. I like mine.
Answer: Mine came with a small roll so plan on buying extra right off the get go.
Answer: Yes a small roll. You will need.to buy more.
Answer: Yes it does. Love it
Answer: Yes
Q:
What is the maximum size of vacuum bag/roll that this machine can do?
Answer: The max size I've used is the 11' bags. Any bigger would make it hard to fit or bunch up into the sealer or vacuum area.
Answer: The Standard issued roll
Q:
Is it 110v and 220 v ?
Answer: Just 110v
Answer: It is 110V. Works on a regular plug.
Answer: 110v
Answer: It does not show 220 on the box.
Q:
what is the widest bag i can use?
Answer: 11"
Answer: 11"
Q:
Is it 220 v ?
Answer: for US its 120 VAC
Q:
Can you use ziplock bags for sealing or does it have to be a special roll of plastic?
Answer: You can seal ziplock bags but the vacuum option doesnt work. It does come with some bags and can purchase extra bags of all sizes at decent prices.
Answer: I have sealed bags other than food saver bags.
Q:
What brand of sealing bags is recommended for this vacuum sealer? Food Saver brand bags seal inconsistently.
Answer: I personally use the Cabela brand. I also have some Food Saver brand that works well also.
Q:
This machine will seal a 11" bag? how about a 12"? Thanks, Rudy.
Answer: Unfortunately not. Seal strip is only 11.5” wide
Answer: No, the vacuum slot and the sealing strip are about 11 3/4 inches wide, so it won't work.
Answer: Not sure; you'll just have to measure it.
Q:
Where can i buy replacement bags?
Answer: You can use any bag the is vacuum sealable. I get mine online or at Walmart. Somewhere that would sell them. Grocery stores didn't carry them FYI
Q:
can I make custom bags?
Answer: Yes, you can buy rolls of bagging "sleeves" in different widths and cut them to the length you desire. The rolls are available from many sources online.
Answer: Yes you can.
Q:
what is the biggest width that can be sealed ?
Answer: Love this machine! Think large bag of chips as the biggest width and u are set.
Answer: It was bought as a gift and not received yet.
Q:
Been using this machine for a couple months & now the machine doesn't vacuum all the air out of the bags. Any suggestions to remedy the problem?
Answer: The vacuum function seems to be a widespread problem. Mine only vacuums air out some of the time but I have no answer as to remedy.
Q:
Is this wall/door mountable?
Answer: I am unsure if this can be mounted
Q:
Are you able to seal chip bags or other bags to keep food fresh?
Answer: pag must be made to be sealed in a personal sealing device. No chip bag will work.
Answer: I have not used with other bags
Q:
Does this use a “heat seal”? Can it be used with FoodSaver “heat seal” bags or just the regular seal bags?
Answer: Yes it uses heat to seal and you can use foodsaver bags
Q:
is it partial to using one brand or type of bags?Or will it use any brand..If so what bag works best?
Answer: I think it will use any type. I used the industrial pack for Amazon. Its not rocket science...its a vacuum with a heat bar to seal.
Q:
I purchased this sealer and am happy with it but having trouble using the cutter on the back. Is there a simple trick to start the cutting?
Answer: Stand the unit on end and flip the end levers up to open the cutter. Put the bag material in the slot and close up with the end levers. Pull material through cutter to desired length and starting with the cutter on left, move it across the material from side to side by pressing down on cutter to keep bag flat. Works great and nice straight cut.
Answer: The cutter is a little awkward to use. Just use scissors to cut the bag to the size you need and go from there.
Answer: Yes, it easy but the vacuum not works so I return it
Q:
Can you attach hose
Answer: I do not see a place for attachments.
Answer: Nah u cant fam
Q:
How long do you have to wait between uses?
Answer: There is a wait time but not crazy long. This is for the sealing function. I’m very impressed with the way this unit preforms. Time will tell if it will last.
Answer: I don’t wait in between uses and it works just fine.
Q:
When doing sous vide, juices from meat pull toward vacuum. This doesn't have dry/wet option. How prevent juices from damaging seal & machine?
Answer: I’m having trouble with this too. It stops vacuuming when the juices reach the seal
Answer: I dont Know haven’t used it yet
Q:
Can this seal Mylar bag?
Q:
Can you reseal chip bags
Answer: I had not tried doing that so I did that this morning before sending my answer and yes it did seal a chip bag.
Answer: yes, I have resealed bags without a problem
Answer: No
Answer: yes
Product reviews of Chefman RJ45-Black Vacuum sealer
Justin Peters : DO NOT BUY!!!!!!
Absolutely horrible didn’t even get 12 uses out of the thing and it started falling apart wishing I never would have bought it and now I can’t return it!!!!!
Monatomfit : It is amazing and easy to use
This was my first time to own an Chefman electric vacuum sealer. I received it as a gift it was the coolest thing ever. It is amazing and easy to use. I use to always have problem storing my meat in the freezer but, with this product I can vacuum seal it and store it perfectly in the freezer. I highly recommend this product.
adrian reynosa : The new one works great and is good for the price
So, I originally wrote a 1-star review on this and the issue was that the suction was weak. Apparently I received a defective unit and the people from chefman contacted me and replaced it with a new one. The new one works great and is good for the price, my only complaint about this is the time it takes to suck out the air but I'm very happy with this product.

boulaa : Nice machine...great price
I do sous vide cooking and this is a great sealer for the price, Gives a nice tight seal in a short time. Very well built and hopefully lasts a long time. It will use bags or rolls to make your own custom size bags. Can use many different bag and roll material manufacturers so you are not locked into one source. Takes up to 11" bags or material. Since I have gotten this I have sealed all kinds of foods with no problems. Just make sure bag is laying flat in vacuum chamber before closing up so you get a tight seal. The cutter on the back is also a nice touch to make sure your cuts are straight when making custom bags. I think this is a great machine and at a low price. I definitely recommend this. . I would give 5 stars if there was something that firmly held the bag flat before closing top but even so it works great...

Amazon Customer : Cheap built, Pay for what you get.
Sorta does what its supposed to do. Not very great suction power. Would not purchase again.
Haley : Completely fried first time using it
We bought this vacuum sealer to use to make freezer prep meals before we have our first child. It worked fine for the first 3 items it needed to seal then started to smoke during the 4th item and the heating plate burnt and came right up. So not worth saving the money to risk using this one.

JD : Easy to use, small and compact footprint
Snatched one of these bad boys during a lightning deal, as i've been researching/searching for few days to find a proper vacuum sealer. Easy to read instructions, and self-explanatory product, nothing can go wrong. Quick tip for first timers out there: press hard on each ends until you hear a loud "click"; when you do the vacuum-seal option, make sure to line-up the bag beyond the first rubber/foam gasket. It took me a couple of trials to ensure perfect sealant positions. You can also re-seal or re-vacuum each bag so you're not wasting bags. Now i seal everything in our pantry to ensure freshness!

Foppiano : Very easy to use
Very easy to use, but buy extra rolls of bags. Once you vacuum seal one thing you will find a lot more things to seal.
Next generation mom : Five Stars
Works and seals great
Beverly Brewer : A basic product but hard to lock down to vacuum.
It works good until you have to lock it down to vacuum. The instructions say to push down on both sides until you hear it click. It is so hard to do that it took both hands on each side to close it. All this while you balance the bag of food that you are trying to vacuum.

Doesn’t seal properly at all still a lot of air in the bags
Carla Chandler : Decent for price point
UPDATE It finally gave out on me, it lasted about two years, but the foam part that keeps the vacuum going came off so now it won’t vacuum, that being said, while it lasted it was amazing, and maybe mine was just a “lemon”, I kept things in the freezer for months after using this and once thawed it was still absolutely perfect, so I am not removing any stars, because it does work
I want to start by saying this is the first food vacuum sealer I've owned, I didn't know what to expect, so I didn't expect much It does what it says it does, and for that price range I guess I can't complain. It cuts, it seals and it vacuums, I just wish it would vacuum a little stronger, or longer, as sometimes (not always) I feel like there is a bit too much air left, I'm decently satisfied with this machine for this price point, I assume the more expensive ones would get more air out, but I do not have any experience with any other brand, so maybe it doesn't do much, if any better than this. I do not plan on keeping things in the freezer for a extended (months, year) amount of time, so it's been keeping it fresh for the couple of weeks I've stored things in it, it tastes good, and no freezer burn going on the 4th week now. I will update if anything changes

Diana W. : Less expensive than Food-Saver
I had an expensive Food-Saver vacuum that lost its seal after a year. It could nt be repaired. I went online and bought the Chefman for much less and it has worked great. No problems at all.
Bonnie Hilburn : Very pleased with it
Just received and used. Very pleased with it. Vacuum seals easily and I like the cutter on the sealer. Excellent for the price.

Works and seals great
Karen : Do not Recommend for Sealing Liquids, Dissappointing Customer Support
Expect to waste a lot of bags and use a lot of expletives when trying to seal anything with liquids!
This sealer is advertised as capable of sealing liquids, such as sous vide. It maybe seals one out of 4 bags with liquid properly. The device pulls the liquid into the sealer making a mess both on the bag and in the machine. Not to mention, air still remains in the bag. It is very frustrating.
I contacted customer service and they told me they could not help me unless I emailed them a video. I emailed them a video and they told me liquids must be held at a vertical angle (which is not in the manual). We did try this and it does increase the odds of the seal possibly closing (still with the mess and still with air in the bag). However, it’s still an extremely frustrating process when it will not work consistently.
This sealer is more hassle and mess than it’s worth for the poor quality of seals and poor air removal with liquids.

Susan R : Good on seal; vacuum function variable
The first one of these I got did not latch on one side but the company replaced it. It seals fine but when I want to vacuum seal, it does not always work the way it is supposed to. Sometimes, I will go from vacuum to seal immediately without providing any vacuum even though I am positive (and verify when I open the lid) that I have placed the bag in correctly to seal. Other times it keeps going with the vacuum even though there appears to be no more air to be taken from the bag; I then have to cancel then press seal separately before opening the lid so I do not lose the vacuum, Other times it works like it is supposed to.
Amazon Customer : Where's my keys???
Be careful what you leave lay around! My wife is addicted to this thing. It will save us a fortune. Bags are readily available and most reasonable on Amazon.
