Brian Lawrence : great reel!

Up until this spring I have been using a 5500 Abu since 1988... then I get this real, in left hand, which is the way to go for a right handed caster. my first trip out with this reel I caught my biggest bass to date, and the reel performed flawlessly. Casting is pretty easy to get adjust to not have any(many) backlashes, and distance is pretty impressive. To be completely transparent though, I bought a Abu Garcia Black Max and its only fractionally a lesser reel. If you want to save some money its not a bad way to go. Also, If you're considering the comparable Shimano, don't....its a good reel but not as adjustable for casting, and is inferior to the Daiwa. not a bad reel but just not as good for the money, IMO.

Wesley Kennedy : Fantastic reel and top of it's class under $150

I have been blown away by the quality of this reel. I was expecting a reel in the same class as the Abu Garcia Revo X, Shimano SLX or Lew's Speed Spool LFS, but instead, I would put this closer to my Daiwa Tatula 100, Shimano Curado K and 13 Fishing Inception reels. Very smooth, casts very well with 30-50lb braid and 12-17lb Fluro.

Only minor issue is that I tend to keep the magnetic brakes at around 10 even with a 1/2oz swimjig. (minimal thumb braking) Although this does not hamper the distance at all, I still would prefer a bit wider range to work with. Consistently, I am able to cast 10+ yards further than my other $100 class reels and within 5 yards of my $150+ class reels.

Currently running these reels on Dobyns Fury, Fenwick HMG, Shimano SLX and 13 Fishing Fate rods and will be adding more to my arsenal soon.

I love how it has a metal frame. It makes the reel feel expensive and well built compared to other cheap reels they sell here on Amazon.

Love it! Very smooth, casts far and accurate, drag feels nice and smooth the drag starl has a nice click to it, the graphite material feels and looks very nice. I love the rubberized handles. So comfortable and slip resistant.
For this price this is one of or the best baitcaster for under 100$! Im happy with my purchase. I have it paired with a Daiwa Jupiter rod and it feels great. It is also made in Taiwan!

UPDATE I have gone fishing with this reel more than a few times now and have put some time and fish into it and it still performs perfectly.

just me : One Of The Best Reels For Under $100

I have several Daiwa Fuego CT reels and I really like them all. My first Daiwa was the Fuego 100H 6.3.1 and I use it for crankbaits. I initially wanted a 7.3.1. When this reel went on sale, I purchased it It's the same quality as my Fuego 100H, just in a slightly smaller frame with fewer barings, which has made no difference in castability nor smoothness, at least from what I can feel and see. . These reels are well built, a pleasure to fish with and I believe if taken care will last for many years.
