Questions about Redington Behemoth Fly Reel
Product reviews of Redington Behemoth Fly Reel
yony : Absolute beast
I had bought the 7/8 piscifun sword reels which do work well. But I needed a bigger arbor that could hold a bunch of line cause I plan on using my fly rods for everything. By that I mean bigger fish.
I bought the Orange 11/12 cause I prefer color over the regular black.
- Its a matte Orange extremely nice color
- the Reel is huge which I see as a plus it definitely looks strong
- The reel look really nice
- The Drag is insanely strong. This strong enough for pretty much almost every single fish. A lot people complain how their drag knob is loose. But seems this is a 2020 model and my drag knob is tight no wiggle or play whatsoever.
- The drag and spool knob are made of plastic so that's where the reel starts to feel a bit cheap, but it's nothing to really worry about.
- The Reel is aluminum but its not heavy for such a big size. Cause its big you could save some weight and get a 7/8 cause those hold 200 yd of backing vs 11/12 holds 250yds @ 30lbs.
- Reel clicks when retrieving and also has the same click on the drag. Its sounds really nice TBH. if you set your drag correctly. Which allows fish to take some line when fighting them, people will deff hear your drag if their close to you.
Have not used it yet. But I already have plans for this weekend in Montauk shore fishing as well as some fishing in Florida when I visit my family member. I plan on large stripers, Bluefish, Redfish, Jack Crevalle, Kingfish. Small Tuna.
I am absolutely stoked at the quality tbh. Comes with a redington canvas padded bag for holding & protection.
For those wondering the setup. I recently got into Fly fishing, And hands down I love it more than spinning or baitcasting. I only have a 9 weight so I will be pairing it with that for now.
9 wt fly rod (I do plan on getting an 11 wt rod for the bigger fish soon. Redington predator to be exact)
- 20lbs backing 300 yds
- 100ft 5ips 10 wt sinking line
but for now I am confident in my 9 wt can handle most of my fishing with the right drag set.
cj : Great finish
This is the second Behemoth I own, and i love them both. For the money, you can beat this bombproof reel.
jamie : Great gift
Happy
Amazon Customer : Great reel for the price.
Working at a fly shop, this reel in the 7/8 size was a better value than any reel I could have bought with my employee discount at the same price point.
brad : Fly real
Good quality
Cheryl Kraft : Great reel, looks good and has excellent drag
Just caught 60 sockeye salmon with this reel in Kenai Alaska. These fish fight hard in 10 mph current and they destroy cheap reels.
Amazon Customer : Has not held up well to regular use.
Plastic handle came loose immediately and was lost. Stopped clicking on retrieval within a few months. Drag adjustment has very little middle ground. My plastic Clearwater has held up better then this reel.

Greg Weiler : Great reel. Would purchase it again
This reddington reel is the best fly reel I own. I spent a little more than I normally would but it is well worth the price. I used to sell Reddington equipment at Bass Pro shops in garland texas. They build good fly equipment for sure.
Amazon Customer : Quality product affordable price
I like this reel so much I ordered a second one. Was going to order a second spool for the original one but found I could get a whole other reel for $20 over the cost of spool alone. It is not the lightest reel when you compare with other makes, but I don't find that to be a detriment in any way. Let's face it, there are plenty of good reels to choose from so choosing one has a lot to do with aesthetics and price tag... I think this is a solid buy. It seems to be readily available and is functionally sound. I like it.
Rachael Brewer : Value
Absolutely the best reel for the price.
brad : Fly real
