Lew's Mach II Speed Spin Reel

The Mach II Speed Spin reel is a good all-purpose reel and features a lightweight yet rugged aluminum body, skeletal C40 carbon rotor and smooth 10-bearing system. The stainless steel bail is strong and balanced. The spool is double anodized ported knurled aluminum. Pinion gear is precision-cut solid brass. Zero Reverse anti-reverse is rock solid and reliable. Gear ratio is high-speed 6.2:1 that is appropriate for a broad range of fishing applications. The fold-down anodized aluminum handle is fitted with a Winn Dri-Tac Knob.

Answer: In the listing it just says reel. As a Lew fisherman, for that price it has to be just the reel cause the combo runs about 150.00. -200. Hope this helps.

How does this work in saltwater conditions?

Answer: I personally would not use this in salt water. However; if you do, rinse well with clean fresh water and oil the gears.

Answer: It is a combo, not sure on the size selections outside of rod length, number of pieces and relative rod strength. I did buy one, second trip out I snagged up with it, put some pressure on to get it to break free and the rod broke. Not what I call durable...

Would this work with 4 pound ok? Some of my reels don't work well with 4 pound line.

Answer: I use braid on mine, and my Mach II's are the only reels I have that the knurling on the spool keeps the line from slipping completely. Not sure why you'd want to use 4lb, but it should work fine.

Answer: Yes. As long as you put mono or fluorcarbon fishing line as a backing then attach the braid to it, and it should work great.
