I could go & read the bulletin that came with them but again its irrelevant , The reels work that is the bottom line, I use them to fish for catfish & am sure they will handle any cats in the waters I fish. The way you handle the rod, & the reel is the biggest question.

Q:
Does the free spooler lock closed when you reel or do you have to close it manually?

Answer: Manually
Q:
Me podria informar cuantos rodamientos tiene el sistema de freno es menor o mayor a 15 lb me ñodrias recomendar alguno para realizar trolling

How does the reel hold up to casting?
Answer: You can cast with it if you know how to do it. Set the lever to free spin place you thumb on the spool the when you go to cast take you thumb off the line and when it hits the water flip the the lever back to lock . it takes some practice to get used to casting it.
Answer: It is NOT a casting reel.
Answer: muy bien. una buena compra
Q:
Dumb question! I already have a catfish rod and I burned out my spinning reel. Will this reel mount up like a typical spinning reel does?
Answer: In one word, yes, but a rod that had a spinning reel on probably is a spinning rod. A spinning rod is made to bend with the eyes down so when you have a fish on the bend wound be backwards to the way the rod was intended to bend. This may lead to the rod breaking over an extended length of time but whose to say, it might be years before it breaks. Hope this helps
Answer: it will set on top your pole instead of hanging under it like a spinning reel
Answer: no you need a casting rod
Q:
Does the reel have a clicker?
Answer: Yes it does
Answer: yes it does
Q:
Back lashes no matter how much you tryto adjust the spool tension. Any suggestions on how i can remedy this ?
Answer: I've never had a problem with back lash with this reel
Answer: I wouldn't use over 30lb test mono on it. Slow cast by feathering spool with your thumb.
Answer: add a out a 5oz no roll or teardrop weight
Q:
Are there any left handed models available in the size: clx-200la, 230yd-18lb???
Q:

Answer: The Classic CLX reels feature a bushing. The Classic Pro XP features 2 ball bearings.
Answer: Bears are good the release leavers sticks on mine sometimes
Answer: yes rollers= yes sleeves= yes thrust=yes
Q:
Me podria informar cuantos rodamientos tiene el sistema de freno es menor o mayor a 15 lb me ñodrias recomendar alguno para realizar trolling
Q:
What is the gear ratio?
Answer: CLX-200L a: 5.1:1-CLX-450La: 3.8:1
Q:
what is the biggest fish you can reel in with this ?
Answer: 251.72 lbs, anything bigger will surely break the handle. Lol
Q:
Is that left hand? how many bearings? salt water reel? is it suitable for trolling big fish?
Answer: The real is right handed, would be great for trolling for large fresh water fish. I don't think it's big enough or strong enough for large saltwater fish such as marlin, shark, or big tuna, but would be plenty big for bottom fishing.
Answer: Mine is got was right handed. I haven't used it yet . I am waiting for black drum to come in next month. So far happy . Good looking reel for the price

Answer: Not that I know of mine don’t switch sides
Q:
could you use for surf fishing
Answer: I just used this last week for surf fishing. It worked decent even with low quality line. Once you get used to casting it it works great!
Answer: yes I use mine for surf fishing
Answer: I would say yes should not be any problem. good fishing.
Answer: Can be used but large open face spinning reel has greater distance and works much better
Q:
is this a left hand or right hand reel ?
Answer: the reel is right handed kjones
Answer: Right hand retrieval
Answer: right hand unit.
Q:
How many yards of day 40lb braid could the 300 series hold roughly
Answer: Not sure I cast over 100yds an it still has plenty to fight the fish I catch around 280yds
Q:
What pound of line will it take?
Answer: 20 pound to 30 pounds mono I RUN 60 pound braid on mine for sturgeon fishing
Answer: recommend 30 to 80 pound braid
Answer: It depends on if your going to use braid, or mono. I would put at least 50lb mono, and I put 80lb braid, as it is smaller diameter, and higher tensile strength. If you use brace, be sure and put it over a few wraps of mono backing
Answer: Specs say up to30lb but i have 40 on it and it does just fine you just cant put as much on.
Q:
Is this good for 100lbs big catfish ?
Answer: Yes they will catch a 100lb fish as long as you know how to work that drag! I use these reals to drag baits for catfish all the time!
Answer: Yes it is, I caught 86.7 pound blu cat and many 40 to 60 pound shovels. Hell, with my abu 7000s a 100 pound fish would be difficult lol. I spooled my oku,a with 40 pound stren orange catfish line and its what I catch all my fish on
Answer: It is a good reel don't think it could handle 100lb catfish. let me know When to show up for the Fish Fry.
Answer: I hook a 100lb+ shark with 35lb test. I got the shark to the boat
Answer: The reel is not bad but I don't feel that I would target anything that heavy with it , not saying you couldn't get the fish in but I think there is better options for big tackle for 100 pounders .
Answer: yes it a very good reel
Answer: No. It's to light. I would run it up to 40lbs. Seems safe in that range
Answer: Or bigger
Product reviews of Okuma Fishing Tackle Classic Level Wind Star Drag Graphite Trolling Reel
Matt : It’s not an ambidextrous reel
This product is not an ambidextrous reel as it says in the product description. It is right hand only. I’m disappointed but I guess I’ll learn how to fish right handed now.
Cassi : Great item and fast shipping
Great item and fast shipping
Greg Johnson : Inferior
The drag system was totally useless
C-Dub : Slow, but strong.
Very slow reel. Not a great caster. Very strong though.
Big. W : great reel for the money would buy again
worked great for ocean fishing, caught Halibut and sturgeon
E. Wu : The two I received don't cast more than 10 feet ...
The two I received don't cast more than 10 feet. I've never owned a bait caster before but I've oiled them adjusted all the knobs and still no go ????
LGD : Haven't tried yet looking forward to it but as
Haven't tried yet looking forward to it but as described
Amazon Customer : For the money it's not bad, but the drag is loose and difficult to ...
For the money it's not bad, but the drag is loose and difficult to adjust. It will also back off on it's own from vibration.
Jamie Snediker : Party boat reels
They last way longer than a penn jig master 500.
Anthony P. Sharum : The good: holds alot of line
Using with 30 lb test for catfish.
The good: holds alot of line.
Handle is large and easy to use
Clicker is loud
Reel is light in weight
The bad:
It backlashes easily despite attempts to tighten/ adjust
Star drag easily can be overtightened or under tightened when not intended to be.
However for the $$ it is not a bad novice to intermediate use reel especially when staying on a tight budget.
Bushiecat : Don’t hesitate buy it
I love this reel. I used this reel for a cat fish trip and it performed well above my expectations
Paul : Decent reel, but drag was a drag.
I wanted to like this reel, but the drag kept loosening on me. I was fishing for sturgeon with light drag, so if you do not require that, it may not be an issue for you.
Kenneth J. : Five Stars
okuma reels well made perfict for striper fishing
Mack15405 : Great for beginners and learning for the first time
Great starter reel. Held up well with some 10 to 15 pound fish. I've never used these types of reels before and it has served me well as I am converting from spinners to these. When I get better in learning these reels, I will test it with much heavier lines, 30p test max this hold and a stiffer rod and see what this reel is capable of.
Ronald I. Harris : Good quality.
Works fine.
Jerry Bosco : Perfect reel for fresh water trolling!
I'm selling this product in my bait shop as a fresh water trolling reel. Using a lead core line with mono leader. Excellent product!! Works great for Big Bear Lake in California.
G McClain : Great Cat Fishing Build
Really Good for the price.
Jimmy : junk
junk
Jay Henry : Awesome
Awesome, perfect size for catfish and very strong
Bushiecat : Don’t hesitate buy it
I love this reel. I used this reel for a cat fish trip and it performed well above my expectations
Kindle Customer louis : pleased
I ordered a clx-300 a couple of weeks ago & have never used a baitcaster before. I always had trouble as a kid is why I was hesitant about buying this reel. after adjusting the spool I started casting it and never had a back lash. After a few tries I was throwing 50 to60 yards. Love the reel & just ordered one more.
terry leriche : Needs button fixed
Didn’t like that you have to hit the cast button back when you cast your line out it should have been automatic as soon as you start reeling
G McClain : Great Cat Fishing Build
Really Good for the price.
Ryan : Price
Worked great
DRVDIG : Great reel
What can I say, its a great reel.
Bubba : Not worth it
All three l purchased did not work, waste of money
Amazon Customer : Not a bad reel for the money
Not a bad reel for the money, but the bait clickers stopped working on two of them after minimal use.
Jason T. : Is this a left hand reel or a right hand reel.
Why is it this difficult to buy a left handed reel ? I thought I read that the CLX-450La is supposed to be a left hand reel.
Alain Goyette : Four Stars
Did not fit my standard rod. Needs a large receptacle.
Ed Polz : Junk
The spool fails to release, if you jam it forward several times it will finally release.
chris : Get what you pay for
Good for the price
Jennifer E. Kelley : Amazing
Love it! Loud bait clicker and cast amazing. Have 70# braid on it just over 400yrds.
Ted E. Martin Jr. : OKUMA quality at its finest !
Bought a pair of these for the grandsons, the seam to be of very good quality for the money paid. saltwater fishing tears up gear so again time will tell on these.
Ronald Wyrick : reel is fine. They have made the CLX-200 L cheaper and ...
reel is fine. They have made the CLX-200 L cheaper and made it the La.. Doubled the price of the old one which is a good reel. Have 7 of the CLX-200 l but won't buy any more of the La model nor the model L with the double price
Mandjreels : Good value reel
Works good. Good feel for price. Drag smooth. Good for saltwater trolling for salmon
