I have owned this reel for about five years and I have beet the crap out of it, one day we were on a fishing trip and I boated 80 good sized small mouth bass. I have done things like this about all summer for the last five years and it has preformed flawlessly and I even had a pole break from a 40" northern pike so i put it on a new shakespear rod and have not had any problems until this last summer where I finally smoked the anti-reverse. It is as smooth as any other reel out there and it preforms perfectly all the time and is the best value I have found in a long time and is well worth twice the money.
