Last week, I bought the Optix model 20F. it replaced a Shakespeare budget reel that came with an Ugly Stik. The bail of the Shakespeare reel clipped the knuckle of my rod hand. This reel's bail didn't whack my hand and responds quickly to the turn of the crank in any position. It takes very little torque to flip the bail. Some reels much more expensive than this require a fair amount of torque to flip the bail. I have caught two salmon weighing 7 and 9 lb with 12 lb mono on this reel. The drag is easy to adjust. The retrieve is quite smooth. Lightweight at about 8 oz. For my first year seriously fishing, I really like this reel.
