Krautmann : Absolute junk
Update: this reel didn't last an hour of fishing. The plastic pawl broke away and sprung off into the ether. Like I feared, there's no easy repair. I'll try 3d printing a better part, or, more likely, I'll rage smash the reel with an engineer's hammer to prevent eating any more time with this reel.
They should seriously not be selling this.
I really wanted to like this reel. It is well made, a great (if borrowed) design, and the price is fantastic.
Now for the bad. 1. It's fragile. Yes, it's super light weight and one would expect it to need to be treated with care. But, it's more flimsy than one would expect. It's not going to break during normal use, but I doubt that even the thick neoprene case will prevent it from being bent in a gear bag.
2. The clicker mechanism is plastic and very thin. It's also not very protected. If it were easily replaceable, I could abide this, but it is not. It is locked under the spindle which is pressed in the frame. This reel is a 2mm strip of plastic away from complete failure.
I would only recommend this reel if you don't travel, or plan to use it a lot. Too bad.
