Questions about Waring Commercial Pistol Vacuum Sealing System, 8.2 x 5 x 8.2 inches, Black
Q:
Whats the difference between this and the waring pro pvs1000? http://smile.amazon.com/waring-pvs1000-pistol-professional-vacuum/dp/b008lw73uy/ref=sr_1
Answer: The new vacuum pistol fits in the non-professional charger just fine. I received it this week and was happy I didn't need to use the large bag container.
Answer: This one is approved by the health department. It is commercial grade. It comes with quit a few more bags than the pro pvs1000. I believe they will both do the same job. I have a concession business and it had to have the certification for me to be able to use it.
Q:
would I zip or close the bags without the zip tool (sealer)
Answer: It is possible to zip the bags closed without the included tool. I have seen my grandson, a welder who has very strong, tough hands, close the bags with his fingers. I am unable to do this and have to use the tool. It's really easy to close the bags with the little plastic gadget.
Q:
Is there a hose to do jar lids?
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: No there isn’t a hose for jars
Answer: Take the clear cover off the Waring Pistol tip.
Answer: No hose, only works with supplied bags or replacements from manufacturer.
Answer: NO, THERE IS NOT.
Q:
Does anyone know where i can get the zip tool for use with the pistol vac?
Answer: Call Waring Commercial support.
Q:
Will this gun work with foodsaver ziplock bags also
Answer: No it won't work withe foodsaver bags. I tried it and it wouldn't take the air out of the bag.
Answer: I do not know have not used it yet
Answer: I am not sure
Q:
thickness of bags
Answer: They are better and thicker than ziplox. The machine worked once - don't buy.
Q:
Why doesn’t my pistol work unplugged?
Answer: The battery in your gun is so low on a charge , the charger does not recognize it.
Answer: Battery needs jump start !
Q:
Is this waring pististol vacuum sealer more powerful than the waring-pvs1000-pistol-professional-vacuum ?
Q:
where is this sealer manufactured?
Answer: To the best of my knowledge, the sealer is manufactured in Torrington, Ct. The plastic holder and bag holder seems to be made in China.
Q:
Does it use the same bags as the PVS 1000?
Answer: Yes
Answer: I think so
Q:
Can the valve go into the water bath safely for cooking? Or does it need to remain above the water?
Answer: It is designed for commercial kitchens so, yes, the valve can be submerged in the water bath.
Answer: You vacuum seal the bag before you put the bag in the water.
Answer: We wash our bags all the time and often submerge the valve and have not experienced any issues as far as I can tell.
Answer: I wash it but don’t dunk it in the sink or bucket of water. The cap pops off and it can be dunked in the sink. Just no the whole tool
Q:
1 gallon bags have been discontinued. Does anyone know if there is another brand that is compatible with the pistol vac?
Answer: Any brand that has the vacuum seal like the waring brand
Answer: Somewhere under web restaurant supplies they have all sizes.
Q:
1 gallon bags discontinued. Apparently, they have been discontinued. Does anyone know of another compatible bag with the valve?
Answer: Any brand that has the vacuum seal area like the waring brand
Q:
One end is plugged into wall, but there is no round hole to plug the other end to base. It is correct base. Is something missing?
Answer: The round hole is under the base toward the back.
Answer: This particular application is defective. At one time I had the proper design, misplaced it and got this defective P.O.S.
Q:
What is the difference between this one and the pvs1000? also, can the bags of the pvs1000 be used on this one?
Answer: I have enjoyed mine. I have bought others for gifts.
Q:
Does the bag holder come off? Trying to reduce use of limited counter space.
Answer: yes; and in fact if you have a less bulky way to store the gun itself, the charger can plug directly into the gun rather than the base.
Answer: don't buy this - it worked once.
Answer: Yes.
Q:
I just aquired a waring commercial pistol vac wvs50. i cannot see anywhere on the charging stand to plug in the charging plug. the only place i see ii
Answer: down on the bottom of the right hand side of case...where it says dc, etc. Well, directly on the other side of that is the tiny little hole.
Q:
What is the Warrantee on this item?
Answer: There is a limited one (1) year motor warranty
Q:
Can the bags be microwaved and boiled?
Answer: Yes. Just break seal slightly prior to micro
Q:
Can I order a charge adapter
Answer: Yes, Waring's support for its commercial line is excellent; you can get parts including the charger by calling them.
Q:
What’s the difference between this model and cuisinart’s handheld model?
Answer: They are basically the same. I bought the cuisinart bags before because they were cheaper and they worked just fine with the wareing model.
Answer: I don’t know what the differences but this is the best pistol vacuum I ever owned it works very well I highly recommend it
Answer: I really don’t know the answer but I wouldn’t buy this item. It needs special bags it will not seal for very long and Subsequently I will not use it anymore. It did not vacuum pack anything including my sous vide dinner. Huge huge disappointment
Q:
Where do you get additonal bags? What type do I buy?
Answer: On Amazon you can find Waring bags up to 2 gallons. Not especially cheap but insanely good bags. Less good, less costly, but viable especially for single use and sous vide, FreshSaver bags work with this adequately.
Q:
Can the bags be reused if using for non food items?
Answer: It shouldn't matter what you use the bags for. These are sturdy bags. I've reused mine several times.
Answer: They can be used many times with non-food items, also with some types of food.
Answer: I would think so as long as you wash the bags. I have only used for meat and throw them out. Probably because I didn’t feel like cleaning them
Answer: I wash them out and reuse
Answer: I'm not 100% sure, but I don't see any reason why not.
Answer: I haven’t done it yet but I’m sure you could. What did you have in mind?
Q:
Does it have AC electricity power
Answer: The gun is powered by an internal battery which is charged by plugging the charging stand's cord into a wall plug. The pistol itself is powered by the battery. I keep the charging stand plugged into the wall outlet all the time so that when I need to seal a bag, the pistol is fully charged and ready.
Q:
How to connect the charger adapter to charging stand?
Product reviews of Waring Commercial Pistol Vacuum Sealing System, 8.2 x 5 x 8.2 inches, Black
Deb : The best thing ever!
I have had this sealer for 3 months and it has paid for itself. It keeps cheese and veggies fresh in the frig until they are used up, no more moldy cheese! It also seals canning jars with dry food stuffs easily. You can use just what you want and reseal in just seconds, love this thing!
carol brady : Easy to use
Had one for about 6 years and it finally gave out. This is the best one out there. Very easy to use!! Have tried other brands and gave them to family!
Florentina | VeggieSociety : Charging station is cheap and stoped working after a few uses.
I wanted to love this so much and I did except it stopped working almost immediately, stored it in a drawer for a while then got back to figuring out what is wrong. The charging station is toast, super cheap and of course can’t find a replacement. This would be a great thing to have if it can with a USB charging cable that would be reliable.
James J. Schmidt : BIG Pricing problems
While this system does work well and is very easy to use, the replacement bags are criminally expensive and cannot be adapted to the amount of food being sealed. 48 of the 1 Qt bags are only slightly less than $1.00 PER BAG!!! And, for only $3 or $4 more you can buy a completely brand new machine which includes 50 (25 1-Gal and 25 1-Qt) bags! THAT'S RIDICULOUS and it's exactly why I'm going to look towards buying a different system. Hopefully one that not only allows me to tailor the size of the bag for what's being sealed but more important, allows me to buy food to seal after buying spare bags.
bandit : P. O. S.
Do not buy. This product is P. O. S. Mine broke after a month. Waring failed to respond
Melanee Tomasulo : Excellent product
Works perfectly. Unit is small enough to stay on counter. Very happy with performance
Echoesc : Great device - but tricky to learn how to use it
I own a more conventional countertop vacuum sealer, and the small portable Food Saver hand held device. I bought the Waring bags because I had read they you could use the Food Saver device, but I could not make that work. But the bags are so much thicker and seemed far superior to any other resealable vacuum bags, that I decided to get the sealing system. I was frustrated at first, trying everything to get it to create a vaccum with several different bags, but nothing seemed to work, and when I checked these reviews it looked like lots of other users were also frustrated, and many gave up. But I kept at it, and the trick is that when you press down hard on the bag, it merely sucks the opposite side of the bag against the valve, and it can't work. If you just make sure there is space between the valve and the opposite side of the bag (holding the bag so the valve is vertical and not horizontal works well), it works perfectly. There isn't a huge vaccuum compared to the countertop unit, but that actuallly works in the Waring's favor, it's designed so that if there is some liquid in the bag (not too much), it will be trapped in the removable front cap and you will have a perfect seal - this works much better than the countertop device I have if there is liquid in the bag. Overall terrific device and system, and can't say enough good things about the bags themselves.
2/24 update - shortly after my original review - the product stopped working! Things break, and bad stuff happens, but it's here where you really get to see how good the customer service is with a seller, and KaTom Restaurant Supply came through with flying colors. KaTom quickly responded and provided a prepaid label so i could return the device at no cost, and immdeiately returned a new one. I'm back in business with the best resealable vacuum sealer, and couddn't be happier with how they handled things.
Stephanie Alba : If you want a sure fire way to preserve food longer - Use this product!
I've used a lot of things to preserve food for longer and this product, by far, exceeds expectations. It's compact and works fantastic! This is the second one I have bought. The first one worked great for multiple years.
G. Carrillo-Rojas : Battery dead on arrival... Problem fixed and some recommendations
1) Electric problem with the battery: I recently received my new Waring Vaccum Pistol from Katom-Restaurant supplier in Amazon. It arrived with it's battery dead. I perfomed some electronic diagnostics and I confirmed the malfuntion of the internal battery pack. Surprisingly, I found that the date of manufacture is 2014-06-14! For a Ni-Mh battery, such extended storage period without a recharge is catastrophic! (the batteries never recover). Sadly, it is not possible for me to do a return of this item, because it was shipped to my country of origin. I will replace the battery bank with some compatible model, however I will think twice before buy something from that supplier.
UPDATE: I fixed the problem with a nice trick I found on youtube (Doing a overload of the voltage to 12V during 15 seconds; then recharge the battery normally).
2) Despite this issue, this product is really good for the purpose. The vacuum pistol has a powerful pump. After an overall evaluation, it proved sturdy and well designed.
The bags are pricey, however it worths the money due the high quality of the plastic and the vacuum valve.
3) You can contribute to care the environment if you reuse this bags several times (after wash them, of course) instead of dispose them after a single use. Please be conscious about our planet! :)
michael l : Excellent Appliance
Best kitchen appliance! Easy to use, many bags included. Food stays fresher in refridge and no ice crystals in freezer. I’m impressed!
N. Lusk : Works as advertised - best option for a portable sealer
I have so many uses for this sealer, but the bags are where the real genius lies.
Disclaimer: I'm pretty obsessive about sourcing my own meat, which means I'm a hunter. My advice here can be adapted but it might be useful for others who travel with fish, vegetables, or perishables.
When I travel by car to hunt, I'll take a Waring Pistol-Vac and a dozen of their resealable 1 and 2 gallon bags with me. I've broken down game onsite before, sealed everything into the Waring 2-gallon bags (think of them like enormous, durable Ziplock bags).
I'm actually surprised more people don't use the Waring bag setup - I'll frequently travel with just the bags and suck the air out by mouth, which is an awesome, sealing machine-free way to transport meat back from the field.
Because I worry about an airline losing hard-won meat/ birds/ fish, I like to seal it into the Waring bags, freeze or chill it, and pack it into an original 30 quart soft-sided cooler bag (which fits in an overhead compartment just barely). The last step is to pack one of the waring bags with ice (often from the hotel) and put that into the cooler.
Because you cannot travel with ice or liquid on a plane, I'll dump the ice right before I go through security, then ask at a Starbucks or restaurant for a scoop of ice to replenish the Waring bag. With this setup, I'm good for a solid 12 hours of travel with cold meat, and there's no way the airline can lose it because it stayed with me.
I'll warn that the bags aren't cheap ($30 for 24 2-gallon bags) and you're going to like them so much you'll use a lot of them, but they are far lighter and easier to travel with than a full blown sealer.
The bags are also perfect for sous-vide, so this setup is great if you are frequently traveling to other people's homes to cook. Lastly, I'll prep meals at home (like Gordon Hamersley's chicken recipe) then freeze and seal it with the Waring setup. When I get home from work I can drop a bag into the sous-vide machine and in an hour, the chicken just needs a quick brown in a pan and I'm ready for dinner.
carol brady : Easy to use

N. Fornelli : Working well
I was confused on how to charge the pistol. I called customer service they were very helpful. The booklet does not show where the hole is on the unit to plug in customer service sent me a picture now all works very well.
Robin A McGrew : LOVE IT!!
Love it. Had it years ago and someone actually stole it from an apartment in Austin. Saw it and purchased .... again love it. It has a chamber to catch liquid. It makes it easier to seal and clean up is a breeze.
Amazon Customer : GREAT
Best I have ever used...bags are sometimes hard to locate...but overall a great find.
Melanee Tomasulo : Excellent product
Works perfectly. Unit is small enough to stay on counter. Very happy with performance
Frequent shopper : Great vacuum sealing system
I have bought several of these vacuum sealers for myself, family members and friends. By far, the best sealer on the market. You can use the vacuum bags over and over again. There is no waste. This is truly the best vacuum sealer! You will not be disappointed.
Jonniv : Feeling lucky today?
It sucks….Or doesn’t! That’s the problem.
Problem with the inner sealing ring. Got it working somewhat by running my fingernail around it but still leaks.
I have an older model I bought back in 2015 which worked fine till the battery leaked. Cleaned the charging contacts & it still took a charge but then the charging base quit.
This is definitely the best of the handheld devices if you are lucky enough to get a working one.
BMWRT : Waring you know better !!!!!!!!
This showed up with a dead battery! Would not charge . Read on here how to jump it with
18 vt battery, it worked for me ! But I expect more from Waring ! Just glad I’m not shipping it back , and all the B. S. With all that.
Roxyt : Most useful gadget I own!
I have the older version of this sealer and have used it for several years. I don’t know what I would do without it! I have a countertop Foodsaver also but have not used it in years as this sealer is so much more convenient. I have never had one problem with it, it is small enough that I just keep in its charger on the counter ready to go. The bags are pricey, but I reuse mine several times over! They are very thick and sturdy and are made to be reusable so I just wash them. Sometimes by hand, but usually I just rinse them out with a little Dawn (and bleach if they stored meat) in the sink then turn them inside out and pop them in the dishwasher for sterilization. I position the opening over the dishwasher “tines”. I even put the gallon bags on the bottom rack - no problem. I bought a box of spare quart and gallon size bags but have hardly used any! Hard to believe but I am still using mainly the bags I received with my unit. The only ones I have had to throw out were after Hurricane Michael’s devastation. I had major damage and power outage so of emptied fridge and freezer. Saving bags from rotten smelling food wasn’t a priority. So far I actually have not had a single fail of a seal and I use this a lot. I am a single senior on a budget so I buy chicken breasts etc in bulk or whole pork loins and cut and potion out to freeze. I also make crockpot meals, soups or stews and do the same. I just freeze portions first in mini silicone bread pans, remove, seal in bags and freeze. Love so much I bought this for both my married children. You really should give it a try!
Amazon Customer : Works
Performs as expected.
No negative comments
Tina : Highly recommend this product
Very easy to use and is much more convenient that other vacuum seal devices. This product is also more environmentally friendly as the bags can be re-sealed/re-used.

Linda : Easy to use
Used for freezing food, very happy
Dee Garza : Too large footprint.
I bought this because the battery from
My ild one died. (That is my bad because I waited too long to recharge it). My unit was exactly the same but did not have that huge, useless stuff behind the unit. I love the product but hate the change because now it is too large for my counter. There is no need to have a bunch of bags attached to the machine. Who thought that was a good idea?
chester m. : They cheat
This item was defective and never worked. I did get a refund for the cost of the product, but had to pay $20.00 my cost to return the item! This is very wrong. I will not order from this vender again until this is fixed and I am refunded the postage.

Richard Ogden : Essential quality sous vide tool
This is not a cheap tool. If you're looking for cheap, there are better choices. After I bought it I had some buyers' remorse over the price. Now I've been using it for several weeks and it works SO much better than the alternatives I'm glad I made the purchase. It has all the power of the Foodsaver countertop units (maybe a bit more) but is completely portable due to the rechargeable battery, which means I can do all the work without lugging open bags of wet food around the kitchen. It is many times mpre powerful than the little battery powered Foodsaver, and it works with all the valve-type bags I've tried. The pistol shape is a natural fit and easy to use even with my arthritis. The charging stand is thoughtfully designed to use the minimum of counter space while the hinged lid protects the tool and electric contacts from dust and spills. The one drawback of course is that the bags are not cheap! But if you're using those resealable valve type bags anyway (like for sous vide cooking) this is simply the best tool for the job.
