This sealer is excellent for food storage whether for dry storage or use in the freezer. The sealer is an excellent component of your sous vide cooking system. Answer: The new vacuum pistol fits in the non-professional charger just fine. I received it this week and was happy I didn't need to use the large bag container.

Answer: This one is approved by the health department. It is commercial grade. It comes with quit a few more bags than the pro pvs1000. I believe they will both do the same job. I have a concession business and it had to have the certification for me to be able to use it.

would I zip or close the bags without the zip tool (sealer)

Answer: It is possible to zip the bags closed without the included tool. I have seen my grandson, a welder who has very strong, tough hands, close the bags with his fingers. I am unable to do this and have to use the tool. It's really easy to close the bags with the little plastic gadget.

Answer: No it won't work withe foodsaver bags. I tried it and it wouldn't take the air out of the bag.

Answer: The battery in your gun is so low on a charge , the charger does not recognize it.

Answer: To the best of my knowledge, the sealer is manufactured in Torrington, Ct. The plastic holder and bag holder seems to be made in China.

Answer: It is designed for commercial kitchens so, yes, the valve can be submerged in the water bath.

Answer: You vacuum seal the bag before you put the bag in the water.

Answer: We wash our bags all the time and often submerge the valve and have not experienced any issues as far as I can tell.

Answer: The round hole is under the base toward the back.

Answer: yes; and in fact if you have a less bulky way to store the gun itself, the charger can plug directly into the gun rather than the base.

Answer: down on the bottom of the right hand side of case...where it says dc, etc. Well, directly on the other side of that is the tiny little hole.

What’s the difference between this model and cuisinart’s handheld model?

Answer: They are basically the same. I bought the cuisinart bags before because they were cheaper and they worked just fine with the wareing model.

Answer: I really don’t know the answer but I wouldn’t buy this item. It needs special bags it will not seal for very long and Subsequently I will not use it anymore. It did not vacuum pack anything including my sous vide dinner. Huge huge disappointment

Where do you get additonal bags? What type do I buy?

Answer: On Amazon you can find Waring bags up to 2 gallons. Not especially cheap but insanely good bags. Less good, less costly, but viable especially for single use and sous vide, FreshSaver bags work with this adequately.

Can the bags be reused if using for non food items?

Answer: It shouldn't matter what you use the bags for. These are sturdy bags. I've reused mine several times.

Answer: The gun is powered by an internal battery which is charged by plugging the charging stand's cord into a wall plug. The pistol itself is powered by the battery. I keep the charging stand plugged into the wall outlet all the time so that when I need to seal a bag, the pistol is fully charged and ready.

Naxia : Had to Jump-Start Battery Upon Arrival

Haven't had a chance to vaccum anything yet, because the battery arrived dead. But I did find some tricks online.

If your unit is not charging (LED blinking/flashing), or it's not operating wirelessly, do the following:

The battery may have insufficient charge to be read by the charger. This happens every so often with rechargeable power tool batteries. Get a 9 volt battery, the rectangular ones, and use it to "jump-start" the pistol.

Determine the positive and negative poles for both the pistol and the battery. For the pistol, this can be determined by looking at the charger. The contact points are marked with a + or - sign. The 9 volt battery is also marked with + and - signs.

Hold the positive and negative terminals of the 9 volt battery to the same on the pistol. Leave it there for up to a minute. The motor will start and the pistol can now be charged.

I have had this sealer for 3 months and it has paid for itself. It keeps cheese and veggies fresh in the frig until they are used up, no more moldy cheese! It also seals canning jars with dry food stuffs easily. You can use just what you want and reseal in just seconds, love this thing!

I wanted to love this so much and I did except it stopped working almost immediately, stored it in a drawer for a while then got back to figuring out what is wrong. The charging station is toast, super cheap and of course can’t find a replacement. This would be a great thing to have if it can with a USB charging cable that would be reliable.

We absolutely love our previous one, but it gave up the ghost after 10 years. So we went back to earring again for this one it is a good product but the rubber seal doesn’t work as it should. I think it needs to be larger or something. We have to stretch it and it works for awhile or use the old seal ring in it. Other than that it’s a great product. Please send me a new rubber seal Waring and we love this one as much as our other one!
