What is the maximum oven temperture you can use them?
Answer: These bags for Sous Vide cooking are not to be used in the oven.
Answer: Hi! The maximum temperature for the SousVide zip bags and cooking pouches is 211 degrees. Our ovens do not reach boiling point so we don't recommend using it at any higher temperatures for any extended period of time. We also don't recommend for use in microwave or convection ovens. They are freezer and refrigerator safe. We hope this helps!
Q:
How do these bags compare to regular vacumn bags?
Answer: They are much thicker (to my feel), and supposedly hold up to temperature and hot liquid inside (I am sure that the vacuum bags too). The zipper seal on top allow me to seal them without the vacuum machine (I had bad experience with those). I just use water pressure to force out some air and then seal them with the zipper.
Answer: They work very well with the Sous Vide dealer. I tried another brand that they sold at Costco. They didn't seal near as good. Hope it helps.

Answer: Hi Dawn, I don't have one. Amazon is confused. I can tell you that I do a lot of Sous vide and one absolutely does not need a vacuum machine. I but the BPA free ziplocks.

where are these bags manufactured?
Answer: According to the box, they are made in China. They are BPA-FREE and Phthalate-FREE. I am very pleased with them. They are sturdy and hold together well! I would buy them again. I got the large size for a large roast, and it fits in the bag nicely.
Q:
How could the bag be sealed?
Answer: With the SousVide vacuum sealer. First, the air is evacuated, then the bag is heat sealed. Note: this type of vacuum sealer only works on solid, dry food (e.g., a steak), not on wet/liquid or crumbly/dusty items. You can still seal these, of course, but not evacuate.
Answer: You need to buy the vacuum sealer which sucks out the air and then heat seals the end of the bag. The sous vide bags you bought are probably too stiff to be sealed in any other way. You could get ziplock bags that have an air tight seal and you could create a vacuum by sucking most of the air out with a straw before quickly zip locking the bag shut.
Answer: The bags are electronically welded shut following the vacuum process when using the sous vide system's vacuum sealer. Once sealed they are air- and water tight.
Answer: The bag is sealed by the heat strip from the vacuum sealer. The vacuum sealer does a terrific job of sealing the food inside

Answer: I think there were 12 of the large bags. I've used them all and thrown out the box, so I'm not sure. There are 25 of the smaller quart-sized bags.
Answer: Sorry I haven't used any other product. It took me a while to get the hang of vacuum sealing using the sous vide products, but now I think it works pretty well.

Expensive product in very cheap box.
Box came completely undone when we tried to open it as a 'dispenser'. Glued flaps just popped open and we ended up with a pile of bags.

Purchased these sous vide bags to use with my and they're great.
While a typical, quality ziplock bag (the store brand are usually a bit cheaper and don't work as well) will get you by with most cooking items, those cooked over 160º should be in proper sous vide bags like these. They're also great for larger items like roasts or large steaks.
These bags won't puncture easily like cheaper solutions and they'll hold up to even very long baths in higher temp cooking recipes.
I'd highly recommend these bags to anyone cooking sous vide. I'll certainly be ordering more soon.
