Questions about Berkley Gulp! Alive! Minnow Fishing Soft Bait
Q:
Are they in a pack or a container?
Answer: Depends on the packaging. If it says number, like 18 then, it is a pack. If it says oz then, it's a container.
Q:
These baits are in a plastic bag or a bottle/bucket with recharging fluid?
Answer: Plastic bucket with recharging liquid. Carry plastic to wrap over once opened cause they leak
Answer: If it says “Alive” then it’s a jar. Once I open the jar I put them in a ‘specimen’ jar. They won’t leak the fluid like the original container will.
Q:
How many baits are in the bucket?
Answer: I am not sure of the number but more then 20 if u buy 2.5 or 3 inchers and since most of the time if u know how to hook them correctly they last more casts then you would think and they work amazing I catch trophy trout which is at least 20" 5lbs all the time with them
Answer: There is a bunch of them. I am still using mine after a year. Everything eats them. I have caught a bunch of different species of fish. I would say at least 40 or maybe more. I use them with a slip bobber rig.
Answer: I have used these for the last year now. Too many to count
Q:
How many 2.5” baits come in the 6.9 oz container?
Q:
What jig head should I get for the 4in?
Answer: Depends on what your fishing for. I use 1/16 and 1/8 with 6# line. You can go bigger depending test of your line.
Q:
i thought i was purchasing the larger size for 16. 96 but got a 12 pack count. is this correct?
Answer: Probably not - you must be very careful when purchasing Gulp on line - it all depends on the seller - I have seen very high prices on products on sites like Amazon where the seller is hoping the buyer has no idea what the cost should be - you might have to pay more for a popular color at times but on average I have found that Gulps costs about $1 each or so do not pay more than that - you will find better prices depending on where and when you shop
Q:
Hi, we're looking to purchase 3000 - 4000 rubber fish. 3in - 4in size. we're wondering if you could give us a deal for a large purchase? thank you!
Q:
How many per containter or package?
Answer: Package usually says. I think it is 18. About the container, I don't know, but it's a lot...like 50 or so.
Q:

Q:
Anyone try them in saltwater? i got the Black Shad and it says freshwater only.
Q:
How many of the 3" firetiger minnows are in a pint?
Q:
How many are in a pack ?
Q:
Is this one pint or a half pint
Answer: Its neither. The description indicates that the 3 inch Gulp is 11.2 ounces and the 4 inch Gulp is 12 ounces so both are 3/4 of a pint which is 16 ounces or a little less than 3/4 of a pint for the 3 inch.
Answer: It's a Pint
Q:
Very hard to find numbers. Does anyone know how many are in the 12oz. container Smelt 4"? The retail packs are 8 each for $5.96.

Q:

Q:
Do these float or sink by themselves? And what weight leadjig head do you use for the 2 1/2"? Thanks.
Answer: The bait Will not sink without a jig head. I usually use 1/8 ounce to a quarter ounce jig head
Answer: They sink slowly. I usually use from 2grams (jig head) up to 6 grams (jig head and removable split shot). I try to get a natural presentation under the water and if I put a 6gram jig head straight, looks odd. I caught many kinds with this one. Good Luck!
Answer: They will sink slowly. I use a 1/16 oz for crappie but have also caught a lot of bass with the same set up
Q:
Is it for saltwater use?
Answer: yes

Product reviews of Berkley Gulp! Alive! Minnow Fishing Soft Bait
Thomas A Strawn : Closest thing to live bait but without the hassle
They last longer than the 1" minnows. Just about anything will bite on them. My new goto on fishing bait!
Wendy Mobley : Incorrect description
According to the product description, this should be an 18oz bucket. I received a 12oz tub. The product itself is wonderful. My husband refuses to use anything else.
KymW : Good quality
Excellent product
JoshLong I-E : Donnie C. 21" Trophy Brown Trout--May 15 2017-- Trophy Trout Waters
Excellent for trophy trout! Smelt 3"
BAC : These things DO work
I have only used them once but fished with a single hook and split shot I caught one 14 inch brown trout and one 6 pound steelhead Both fish were caught in about 15 Min. of fishing. Can't wait to try them on smallmouth bass They are messy but so is live bait. I bought a small bottle of the trout worms and put the minnows in the bottle. This worked well and made for less mess as the bottle lid sealed well.
ZACK : Take note these are for freshwater only! not saltwater.
what they dont mention in the ad is that this minnow is not for saltwater, only fresh water..
What am i to do with this now? I fish saltwater only . i am not sure if it would work for saltwater. I will give it a try.
JoshLong I-E : Donnie C. 21" Trophy Brown Trout--May 15 2017-- Trophy Trout Waters
Excellent for trophy trout! Smelt 3"
Amazon Customer : Awesome
Works fantastic on all species of fish
fisherman : Better than live bait!
I use 3" Gulp (black shad) to jig for crappies and walleye. The big crappies slam it! I never use live minnows so I occasionally get a hard-core livebait fisherman that brings their own bait to fish with me and by the end of the day I have them switched to Gulp because it really does catch more fish. It also gets me a lot of bonus bass, pike, and catfish. The VMC Moon Eye jigs work great because fish can't tear it off so I get a lot of fish off one minnow.
Paul : Awesome bait!
On a 2.5" smelt Gulp! Minnow with 1/16oz jighead, I have caught largemouth bass, bluegill, black crappie and even channel catfish. On a 1" smelt Gulp! Minnow with 1/48oz jighead, I have caught largemouth bass, bluegill, and white crappie.
I catch more fish overall with the 1" Gulp! Minnow, but they tend to be small to average size bluegill; fun to catch but few bulls. The 2.5" minnow, on the other hand, gets hits by the large bluegills and many other larger species.
Cast with an ultralight rod using 6lb or lighter line, let sink to bottom (if it doesn't get hit on the fall), then slowly retrieve with frequent slight twitching of rod tip to give the bait realistic action, similar to a Ned Rig but with a slightly faster retrieve.
I've just about decided if you can't catch fish using Gulp! Minnows, there's no fish in the water...these have supplanted the Glitter Black Rooster Tail as my go-to bait.
Disclaimer: I purchase Gulp! minnows locally at Meijer, because they are just over half the price of Amazon.
William E. : Minnows seemed old, We couldn't even put it on ...
Minnows seemed old, We couldn't even put it on the hook without it falling apart. We used maybe 13 pieces from the can where they ended up falling apart!!!!

Nikolaos Roussos : It works!!!
It works as promised! If you can't catch any fish by using these baits it might mean 2 things: a) There are no fishes in this spot or b) you are doing something else wrong. I've been using the last couple of months in the Caribbean sea and in Mediterranean sea...I had people around me try to catch fish with different methods (fly, hard baits, spinners). I was the only one catching when everyone else failed!
Brad Bowles : Will catch any fish that swims.
These baits catch fish!
Amazon Customer : Works great
Works great but not durable and ridiculously expensive

Shawney M. Schnabel : Five Stars
Great for surf fishing also....
david miljour : Excellent
Excellent
Anantha P. : Put in different container or double wrap, it is a leaking machine.
Let me start off by saying that I love these baits, they work great and I use them instead of worms for panfishing. My biggest problem with them however is that they leak without fail. I've had both the pint bucket and the small jars, and they ALWAYS LEAK, no matter how tight you close it. And even though it doesn't sound too bad, these baits dry up without the liquid and become unusable. If berkley is reading this they need to do something about it, every container leaks and that's trash.
None : Five Stars
Works as advertised - haven't caught anything with it yet.
timberdoodle76 : Great Product
I cannot believe that these really out fish live bait but they sure do. I have used them to catch Crappie, White Perch, Bass. I have tried them at the same time as live bait and they outfish the live bait everytime.
leadhead : Four Stars
works as described but a little pricey
Young's Farm : Who knows...I can't fish anyways...
I haven't caught a thing...but I'm a lousy fisherman.
Joseph Blasutta : Keep package sealed after opening will dry out
It actually really does outfish live bait
Leanna : Great for blue gill but not tight cover seal
The water gook stuff the fake minnows are in sometimes leaks in my tackle box. Blue gills love these things though. Alright product. Look alright. Stand out well enough in the water. Pretty light and short. Use hook 2-6 size. No aught hooks clearly.
Megan : Not worth the extra money. Just buy the packages
Bought this pack because I figured I’d get more minnows. I normally buy the packages which have 12 I think . There’s maybe 15 in this bucket for 6 dollars more. I guess all you pay for is the packaging and the juice . Not that I expected it to be packed full but 3 more than I I normally get and a bunch of juice I’ll never need because they work so good and are so soft that if there is fish around then you’ll never need to put them back in .

product arrived today... was disappointed in the price and the amount of time it took for me to receive this product
Dave : great bait
works like a charm
David C. Tashik Jr. : top water killer
Great product! I thread a 1/0 worm hook through the body and out the top.... no weight. Toss it out and either skip it on the surface or jerk it just below. The bass in NJ can't look the other way! Buy it!

I have had great success with gulp lures. If you want to relax and catch fish, this is teh way.

Bruce Snyder : Pretty much any fish that eat minnows
They work well for crappies and bluegills. Pretty much any fish that eat minnows. And I don't have to go and get any live bait. Perfect!!
