Questions about Berkley Gulp! Alive! Minnow Fishing Soft Bait
Q:
Are they in a pack or a container?
Answer: Depends on the packaging. If it says number, like 18 then, it is a pack. If it says oz then, it's a container.
Q:
These baits are in a plastic bag or a bottle/bucket with recharging fluid?
Answer: Plastic bucket with recharging liquid. Carry plastic to wrap over once opened cause they leak
Answer: If it says “Alive” then it’s a jar. Once I open the jar I put them in a ‘specimen’ jar. They won’t leak the fluid like the original container will.
Q:
How many baits are in the bucket?
Answer: I am not sure of the number but more then 20 if u buy 2.5 or 3 inchers and since most of the time if u know how to hook them correctly they last more casts then you would think and they work amazing I catch trophy trout which is at least 20" 5lbs all the time with them
Answer: There is a bunch of them. I am still using mine after a year. Everything eats them. I have caught a bunch of different species of fish. I would say at least 40 or maybe more. I use them with a slip bobber rig.
Answer: I have used these for the last year now. Too many to count
Q:
How many 2.5” baits come in the 6.9 oz container?
Q:
What jig head should I get for the 4in?
Answer: Depends on what your fishing for. I use 1/16 and 1/8 with 6# line. You can go bigger depending test of your line.
Q:
i thought i was purchasing the larger size for 16. 96 but got a 12 pack count. is this correct?
Answer: Probably not - you must be very careful when purchasing Gulp on line - it all depends on the seller - I have seen very high prices on products on sites like Amazon where the seller is hoping the buyer has no idea what the cost should be - you might have to pay more for a popular color at times but on average I have found that Gulps costs about $1 each or so do not pay more than that - you will find better prices depending on where and when you shop
Q:
Hi, we're looking to purchase 3000 - 4000 rubber fish. 3in - 4in size. we're wondering if you could give us a deal for a large purchase? thank you!
Q:
How many per containter or package?
Answer: Package usually says. I think it is 18. About the container, I don't know, but it's a lot...like 50 or so.
Q:

Q:
Anyone try them in saltwater? i got the Black Shad and it says freshwater only.
Q:
How many of the 3" firetiger minnows are in a pint?
Q:
How many are in a pack ?
Q:
Is this one pint or a half pint
Answer: Its neither. The description indicates that the 3 inch Gulp is 11.2 ounces and the 4 inch Gulp is 12 ounces so both are 3/4 of a pint which is 16 ounces or a little less than 3/4 of a pint for the 3 inch.
Answer: It's a Pint
Q:
Very hard to find numbers. Does anyone know how many are in the 12oz. container Smelt 4"? The retail packs are 8 each for $5.96.

Q:

Q:
Do these float or sink by themselves? And what weight leadjig head do you use for the 2 1/2"? Thanks.
Answer: The bait Will not sink without a jig head. I usually use 1/8 ounce to a quarter ounce jig head
Answer: They sink slowly. I usually use from 2grams (jig head) up to 6 grams (jig head and removable split shot). I try to get a natural presentation under the water and if I put a 6gram jig head straight, looks odd. I caught many kinds with this one. Good Luck!
Answer: They will sink slowly. I use a 1/16 oz for crappie but have also caught a lot of bass with the same set up
Q:
Is it for saltwater use?
Answer: yes
Q:
How many 2.5”or 3” baits come in the 6.9 oz container?
Product reviews of Berkley Gulp! Alive! Minnow Fishing Soft Bait
jim : Three Stars
Have no idea how well it will work because the product is taking FOREVER!!!! to get here.
Drichards : Beware, a waste of money
I bought this item based on the reviews and trust me they are lies. Probably they are paid reviews. This thing does work at all. At least they are honest with the smell but fishes are not stupid to fall for this crap. I tried using this several times before posting this review and in each instant it didnt work. I even went further to drop it in a pool of fish for testing purposes at different spots, and the fishes made little attempts and that was it. Please stay away. Also i got fresh water when i ordered salt water.
Paul : Awesome bait!
On a 2.5" smelt Gulp! Minnow with 1/16oz jighead, I have caught largemouth bass, bluegill, black crappie and even channel catfish. On a 1" smelt Gulp! Minnow with 1/48oz jighead, I have caught largemouth bass, bluegill, and white crappie.
I catch more fish overall with the 1" Gulp! Minnow, but they tend to be small to average size bluegill; fun to catch but few bulls. The 2.5" minnow, on the other hand, gets hits by the large bluegills and many other larger species.
Cast with an ultralight rod using 6lb or lighter line, let sink to bottom (if it doesn't get hit on the fall), then slowly retrieve with frequent slight twitching of rod tip to give the bait realistic action, similar to a Ned Rig but with a slightly faster retrieve.
I've just about decided if you can't catch fish using Gulp! Minnows, there's no fish in the water...these have supplanted the Glitter Black Rooster Tail as my go-to bait.
Disclaimer: I purchase Gulp! minnows locally at Meijer, because they are just over half the price of Amazon.
Wendy Mobley : Incorrect description
According to the product description, this should be an 18oz bucket. I received a 12oz tub. The product itself is wonderful. My husband refuses to use anything else.
james : Crappie love Gulp minnows
I'm going to give Gulp minnows 5 stars because they definitely catch crappie. I will say they are delicate and tear very easily and it is best to experiment as to which jig heads work with them without splitting the bait into. Generally I can catch two and sometimes three fish on one Gulp. If they tear just thread them back on regardless of how they look. Crappie wont care. I caught about 70 crappie and used two 18 count bags of Gulps. When traditional jigs are not working give Gulps a try because they work.
Leanna : Great for blue gill but not tight cover seal
The water gook stuff the fake minnows are in sometimes leaks in my tackle box. Blue gills love these things though. Alright product. Look alright. Stand out well enough in the water. Pretty light and short. Use hook 2-6 size. No aught hooks clearly.
Nikolaos Roussos : It works!!!
It works as promised! If you can't catch any fish by using these baits it might mean 2 things: a) There are no fishes in this spot or b) you are doing something else wrong. I've been using the last couple of months in the Caribbean sea and in Mediterranean sea...I had people around me try to catch fish with different methods (fly, hard baits, spinners). I was the only one catching when everyone else failed!
radionut : Container Leaks. Caught one human (me), but no fish.
Ignoring for the moment that I didn't get one bite this season using this product, I have to review and comment on the container. This product costs over $20 US. I'm guestimating it costs perhaps $2 to produce it. It's basically wiggly plastic bits in a foul-smelling liquid, in a plastic container. One would think Berkley would house this in a container that doesn't leak. How difficult is it to have a 10 cent rubber gasket in the lid and a corresponding lip on the container for it to mate with? Think again. This will leak the foul liquid over the container, keeping it perpetually smelly and sticky, and all over the rest of your equipment if you're not careful. I couldn't get a bite using these, but perhaps it was my presentation or the moons of Jupiter were in a low orbit each time I attempted to use this bait.
Mike : They have a nice wiggle to them
I caught fish using them while jigging. They have a nice wiggle to them. You really have to keep them wet as they have a tendency to dry out and get stuck on your jig. I'd say no more than 45 mins out of water or the solution . They can be recharged however. Only reason for the 4 star review is the price. Without the Berkeley rebate the price is too high.
Hannah W. : Great fishing bait
Any time I get these less than full price I buy. Can't ever have enough of these.
Amazon Customer : Works great
Works great but not durable and ridiculously expensive
mik : Garbage
Not real gulp. Or if they are they’re expired, bought at Dicks Sporting in plastic gulp bag and they are soft and life like swimming through the water. Not a plastic stick like these are. Buyer Beware

Kevin B : We use these for Crappie fishing and are much better than using live bait
We use these for Crappie fishing and are much better than using live bait. The only complaint I have is that the packing doesn;t list the amount of minnows you receive. It goes by weight and since most of the weight is "juice" it really isn't a good indicator of what you are actually getting. Berkley should include the number of actual minnows you get.
Amazon Customer : A++++
Exactly what I wanted! Thank you!
JoshLong I-E : and brooks all day long they are amazing and if you but then in a bucket instead ...
I live in Elk County Pa and we have the Clarion River here and there is a section of it located in this county that is catch-n-release trophy trout water and I use mainly the Smelt color of these Berkley alive to catch 20 and 25 " plus browns...rainbows...and brooks all day long they are amazing and if you but then in a bucket instead of a packet after a few cast you can re-dip it if you feel you need to . I use them in heavy current. I hook them just like a live minnow with a needle and a treble hook towards the end of the minnow! I would recommend them to anyone who wants to catch big trout I use 3" myself but 2.5" works pretty well as well! The other colors I have little use for I have tried an sorted tub but ended up using all the smelts and trying to use the other colors but ended up buying a few packets and taking every color that was not smelt from the bucket and adding the ones from the packets to the bucket to infuse them with the attractant! GO TEAM BLOOD TRAIL
kuos : berkly gulp minnows 2 1/2
just wanted to say that the size is not a 18oz rather a 12.8oz so buyers beware. either that or amazon sent me the wrong size. gave it 3 stars because they do work.
Young's Farm : Who knows...I can't fish anyways...
I haven't caught a thing...but I'm a lousy fisherman.
B C. : BENDO!!!!
These are great, use them inshore catch bass, halibut, corvina, corbina, croaker and even a bonefish. These do get bit so get ready to reel in some fish.
Alain Brunet : Identique au précédents
Un produit que je connais et que j'apprécie particulièrement.

Dave : great bait
works like a charm
Big Red : Five Stars
They were exactly what my husband wanted and delivery was fast
S Allen : Love these things!
Unstoppable when dropshotted in San Diego Bay and off of La Jolla. Looks exactly like an anchovy. I know this product says it for fresh water, but saltwater species DEVOUR IT!
Amazon Customer : Gulp Alive
The Berkely Gulp Alive minnow work great the fish love them. They are not very durable though the tails get bit off easily but, they do catch fish.

Kinda disappointed they show a bucket with way more and sends smaller container. So I over payed coulda went to the store and would if been 10 bucks cheaper. But they sure do work great tho

Joker1Bravo : gets the job done
I can only base this review on this mornings fishing; that said I'm fishing in the sacramento area. Never used these, but plastics are always my go to. I used these minnows Texas rigged style with a shot about an inch away. Using a jig/dive style- I was actually able to catch both small and large mouth on it. Surprisingly because the waters fairly cold and the levels higher with early rain. Overall it works. Looks good and bass hit hard on it. End of story.
Mario P. : Junk. Not real Gulp minnows
I buy these things all the time. I figured to buy them here for the convenience factor. These minnows were rock hard and looks like they were made with a cheap plastic injection mold. The texture is all off and so is the color. I'll be looking for a refund and just stick to buying the packages at the store so I know what I'm getting before I put it on my line. For anyone wondering the real one is on the bottom and these garbage ones are on top.
kimberly : Had better
So far haven’t caught anything with it and have tried it a dozen times or so
