I liked the size and weight of the reel, I like the underspin feature, I love fishing ultra lights, casts and reels well, I have it mounted on a five foot UL rod that I already had, caught several fish on it thus far.

I bought one of these reels (South Bend Microlite Trigger Spin Reel) for kayak fishing back in March or so. After a few trips with no problems...kerplunk...the handle fell off into the lake. The reel hadn't given me any trouble up till then, so I ordered another one. When it arrived, I epoxied the screw into the handle. After a few trips the trigger jammed. When I opened the cover, several broken pieces of plastic were floating around in the grease. That was enough for me. I switched back to a CrappieMax Junior trigger spin reel from Bass Pro Shops. It bird nests inside once in a while, and the retrieve is a little "noisy", but at least it doesn't fall apart. Maybe all trigger spin reels are flawed one way or the other.
