Answer: It is really big I had a four foot an thought I needed to move up should have tried a little smaller but if u watch YouTube videos u can learn how to throw this one. Just caught a 15 inch white pearch while I was practicing throwing biggest one I have ever seen. Nice net u just need to learn how to throw it. So far the net is working great and opens fine, especially for an inexpensive net. I use it in open water as to prevent getting it hung up on obstacles or shell beds.

I bought a Mako cast net for my son and we use it very lightly (maybe a couple dozen times in the year we owned it). The connecting joint between the net and the wrist strap is already worm out and the two come apart. I called Lee Fisher and the first time they were nice and committed to fixing it free of charge. When I went to drop it off someone named Raymond (apparently runs the shop) denied to help even after I explained that someone else committed to fixing it for me. HORRIBLE Customer service and crappy nets.....AVOID.

Hand line was frayed and had small hole in net upon opening bucket to inspect net. Warranty states that you must return product unused and that was not an option since I was leaving for a week long vacation the next day, so I opted to use it the way it was. It was very easy to load up and throw, it also opened easily. The netting did tear easily on just about everything is snagged on, but lead line and braille lines seemed to be heavy duty.

My last on lasted 3 years before i hung it on some rebar and ripped it. Everything works as advertised. With the 5 ft net I would catch some bait. Once You get the bigger one mastered you will have more bait.

Good net. The weight of it will wear you out if you have to throw it all day, but that is to be expected of a net this size. I used it in Florida and accidentally caught a 16" Snook and the net held up without tearing. After a couple of throws i could get a pretty good spread.

My first good cast with this net caught me a 2lb bass (I was going for blue gill). I could not be happier with my purchase. It is a great quality net and was keeper than all the sports stores near my house including Walmart. I would highly recommend this to anyone. Obviously, casting a 8 foot net well will take a lot of practice.

I like this net much more than other lower priced ones I've used over the years. I've only used it a few times so not sure how well it will hold up but so far it's great. I won't purchase the high end nets due to all the oyster beds in our area. So this seems like the way to go.

Nice smallish 8' net that throws well. An 8' net should spread to 16' in diameter which I couldn't manage in the lawn pulling it out. Maybe it was when they made it, but with the shaping, it is no longer a full 8' radius. The 3/8 inch net is good for most bait in fresh and coastal fishing. This one is the smallest 8' net I've ever used. Decent amount of lead weights so it sinks quickly. Line pulls smoothly through the horn. So far, it has cleaned and held up well. For the price, it is a good deal.

The is my first cast net, and the main reason that I purchased this one over some others was the price. From everyone that I've spoken too, 8 feet is about the perfect size for a bait net. I used it yesterday and was able to catch plenty of fish in only a couple of throws.
