Q:
Can I use this with an inverter from a 12 volt source?
Answer: I really do not know but I would think so. I think they make this knife in a 12 volt model also. If it plugs into a wall, then it should plug into a inverter if it has a 110 plug in.
Answer: If the inverter inverts to a 110v. I think they have one that works on 12 volt
Answer: I've used the 12 volt inverter with this and other 110 elelctric knives. They seem to get warmer quicker doing it this way but it works none the less.
Answer: No not mine it is ac only
Answer: It only plugs in wall

Amprage ratings on Different electric fillet knifes
Answer: I don’t know I’ve never tried to cut a turkey bone with it, but you can use either hand.
Q:
Is this knife strong enough to spatchcock a turkey (remove the backbone)?
Answer: I would have to say yes as long as blades remain sharp. More power than a regular electric carving knife.
Q:
Is this knife 110 or 12volt?Picture looks like 12volt.
Answer: The knife in the picture is 12 volt I purchased a heavy duty 110 volt.
Answer: The Rapala heavy duty knife I bought was 110 volt. It works great. It cut thru the rib bones like butter.
Answer: It is 110 volt AC.
Q:
Have they corrected the issue with the push buttons to get the blades out? I get two years use then the buttons quit working and the blades are stuck.
Answer: They have not. We had the same problem. Sent them a message and all we got back was a photo of a person pushing the two buttons. They even said, “ push the buttons in, grasp the blades firmly and then push the buttons again” STILL didn’t work. Frustrated at this point, but hubby says it is still the best electric knife he has ever used.
Answer: Actually, I have the opposite condition. Out of the box, the springs behind the buttons are very strong and difficult to press both in all the way to release the blades. I have used this electric filet knife for more than two years and not had a problem.
Answer: My first time use and the blades will not release. I cycled it a couple of times and one side finally released but the other side will not release.
Answer: Mine where a little sticky when I fist used it but as time wheat on it became easier to remove them.
Q:
Will my American Angler blades fit in this knife?
Answer: I don't know or have any knowledge of if an American Angler Blade fit this knife.
Answer: Most likely. Unless they changed their design recently.
Q:
I need a knife capable of fileting or cutting thru the backbone of a 60 lb cobia, plus carving a turkey.I prefer a trigger on-off switch. is this it?
Answer: The knife is capable of cutting thru thick back bone... don't force it... guide it and let the knife do its job...it does not have an on/off trigger... it does have a safety switch that locks the trigger , similar to a safety switch on a gun... but it doesn't lock it in the on position ....
Answer: I'm not sure if you could cut through the backbone. It would slice through the ribs with no problem and has the sharpest and most aggressive teeth of any that I have used. If you hit a joint, it might. The on-off trigger is fine and comfortable to use. Hope this helps you to make a decision. The turkey would be a piece of cake.

Answer: Won't go through coins. But will fillet all day.
Q:
Can you slice cheese and bread?
Answer: I think it would slice bread, but don't know about the cheese.
Answer: I would say you can.
Q:
This does have 2 blades, correct?
Answer: It didn't have two blades when I bought mine. It had just the six, or seven inch. I bought the nine (9) inch one with it, because I knew it would be easier to fillet the size catfish that I was catching this summer.
Answer: No, it only has one blade
Answer: Hello
Answer: Yes and you will notice the power difference
Answer: Yes, and very sharp pointed teeth.
Answer: YES
Q:
Does this knife come with a carrying/travel case?
Answer: No. Mine did not come with a storage case.
Answer: No it does not. You can take the blades off and put it any small carrying bag. I bought one at Target.
Answer: Our knife did not. I purchased a plastic box at the dollar store that works perfectly. Great knife, I just reorder as Christmas presents.
Answer: No, if I remember I had to use a old case I had.
Answer: No
Q:
Is it good for carving a turkey?
Answer: I don't know only use it for fish, but I would think that you could carve a turkey with one
Answer: That I can't say. I don't see why it wouldn't be though. I bought it for my avid saltwater fisherman. It's sharp and works amazingly. I would recommend this based on quality, sharpness, and durability.
Answer: My husband, who is the expert filet knife operator, says absolutely yes!
Q:
Will the rapala heavy duty electric knife cut through frozen fisn about 1 inch thick?
Answer: I would think so but never tried it. My guess is based on how sharp the blades are and how they keep an edge.
Q:
Does it good for raw meat? (Beef/Pork/Chicken....etc)
Answer: Yes. I place beef, pork, chicken or lamb in the freezer until it is partially (not hard) frozen. The Rapala will easily cut through the meat and small bones. The only problem I have had with my Rapala is disengaging the blade from the base after use. You have to let it cool for a few minutes before trying to remove the blade. I love this knife!
Answer: I bought it for my son as a present. He said he uses it for fish...so I don't know about the chicken...etc.
Answer: I have used a lot of electric knives & this one is just unreal for the speed it has, just a awesome knife
Answer: I would think it would be fine because it surely does a excellent job filleting fish.
Answer: Definitely. You could dis-member a body with this thing....Will easily open up a catfish skull.
Answer: Yes,for sure ,if you use daily l would just keep a new set of blades on hand.....
Answer: It died in me after cutting barely four briskets. Which are cooked to medium.
Answer: Excellent
Q:
Can this knife be used with Rapala 9 inch blades?
Answer: Yes, all rapala blades work with it. I use the 9” on red snapper, grouper, cobra, and king mackerel. It has more than enough power to cut through rib cages and any other bones.
Answer: I’ve not done it but am fairly sure they work fine.
Q:
Sorry but can this knife be used to cut deer?
Answer: After field dressing I typically take my deer to a meat locker for processing. But, I buy whole beef ribeyes and use the electric filleting knife to slice the raw meat into the desired thickness of ribeye steaks I want., It slices through it like butter. It not only makes the process quicker, I get a more consistent thickness.
Answer: Sorry, we’ve only used it on fish. Maybe someone else will have a better answer or tried. We love it though.
Answer: It probably won't cut through the bone
Q:
How many fish before the blade needs sharpening also how to sharpen?
Answer: I only fish for crappie and can clean a few hundred before I need new blades. I repurchase new blade and have never resharpened them.
Answer: I have two set of blades(short & long)
Answer: Im not sure, usually the blades last a couple years. This knife has a faulty trigger switch, if you read deep into reviews you will find lots. Rapala wont replace that trigger switch or send a part!! FYI Id buy BUBBA knife next.
Answer: Cleaned 1900 fish last year and still sharp. Last a long time if used correct.
Q:
My blades fall out and switch is hard to hold on, is this normal?
Answer: My blades fall out pretty easy too. Don't really know why ??
Answer: Hello
Answer: Never had this problem.
Answer: I've only cleaned 25 crappie with mine and it worked fine.
Answer: Too be totally honest, I have not used mine enough so they have not fallen out on me. Yet!
Q:
Can you order replacement blades?
Answer: Yes. Any Rapala blades will fit. There are several different sizes available.
Answer: Yes
Answer: yes
Q:
I bought a american angle last year for 89 bucks. it's already quit working! wonder if this one is any better?
Answer: I purchased this last year and have used it on quite a few fish from Crappie to some pretty good sized catfish. It has not failed or lost it's edge
Q:
does this knife have a button on it where the blades just stay on and you don't have to press it to carve??
Answer: NO you have to keep the button pressed for blades to stay on or move, this is a safety feature.
Answer: No, you have to press the button to make the blades work.
Answer: No it does not. That would be a BIG safety issue!!! I for one wouldn’t want one like that. With the trigger switch it has YOU are in control of the blades running.
Answer: No
Q:
Is this knife good for meal and cooked turkey?
Answer: Yes, it is. My son has one and uses it for all types of meat, fish and fowl. He says it is the best knife he has owned.
Answer: Great knife. Good to cut everything so far.
Answer: Yes, it would be good.
Q:
How do you keep this knife clean when filleting a bunch of fish, especially the vent part of the motor on the back of motor. Can this knife be washed
Answer: How are you getting the motor vents dirty? They are on the back of the motor!
Answer: Guess I would only do it with a slightly damp rag is all. It is electric you know! If you filet with one hand and keep the hand off the fish with your knife hand works for me!
Answer: The vent isn't near the blade and therefore is not an issure
Answer: Clorox wipes work but do not get the internal mechanics wet. It is not water proof.

Answer: Mine where a little sticky when I fist used it but as time wheat on it became easier to remove them.
Q:
How well does this cut through catfish ribs? 7-12lbers are very common catch for me.
Answer: This knife should work well for cleaning catfish. It will not cut through the bone by the dorsal fin. But don't know of any knife that will. I have cleaned catfish up to 5 lbs with this knife.
Answer: The Rapala is a very good heavy duty electric knife. I've cleaned catfish with mine and had no trouble with bones but to be honest, I don't recall cleaning any big ones. My last knife was another brand and catfish bones stripped the gears inside it. So far, the Rapala has stood up very well.
Answer: Not sure about catfish, but it does a very nice job on Northern Pike and salmon!
Answer: Only used it on crappie. Has the highest rpm motor of any knife I've had. Should work good.
Q:
will it cut winter squash?
Answer: Depends on the length of blade. Yes!
Answer: We never tried, sorry
Q:
does this knife have plastic or metal gears in it?
Answer: I wish I knew as well but I'm guessing metal. I own 3 American anglers, two with plastic gears 1 with metal. This knife has a similar sound as the metal, and extra weight. Hope it lasts a long time, as it is the fastest and strongest knife I own. Honestly almost too fast. I never mess up with my aa knives and did a couple times today with this one. It cut through bone like butter so you have to be extra careful compared to a weaker knife. Very impressed initially, but wish they had a blade option similar to the aa shark blades. Those things are mean
Q:
Can i cut skin off of fish filet with that knife? usually i put blade flat on table and pull meat/skin through it. not sure if that works here as well
Answer: The filet knife is great!! I still use a flat knife for the skin you loose less meat. If doing a large fish like a stripper I will use the filet knife. Any fish with a thick skin it works great
Answer: works better than regular fillet knife. I usually cut from gills to tail, but leave tail attached, flip over fillet while holding carcass, run knife between fillet and skin, trim off ribs, done.
Answer: It did not work well for me trying to remove the skin from catfish fillets, however i am not an experienced user on fillets. Others have told me it works well'
Answer: I use it for skinning my bass. I have had others that work better, but it does work.
Answer: Yes, I complete the entire cleaning process with the same knife.
Answer: Works well.
Answer: yes , works great
Q:
Can it be used to cut meat other then fish
Answer: Sure it can! It can slice bread, carve turkeys, filet fish, and even cut you. It is like any other knife, it just has VERY SHARP blades that reciprocate as they cut. So in short, yes they can cut all kinds of meet.
Answer: I would guess you could use this for any meat. My husband loves this knife and says it cuts through redfish scales like butter. My husband was so pleased with this knife that we buy it as gifts!
Answer: yes you can keep it in your kitchen and cut any meat you wish... or bread, or cheese or.....
Answer: I am sure that you could cot any meat with it.
Answer: USED TO CARVE TURKEY AND HAM FOR HOLIDAY TIME
Answer: Sure. I use it to slice baked ham.
Answer: Yes,, it can. works great!
Answer: Yes
Q:
Is there a Warranty ?
Answer: I don’t know if there’s a warranty but there should be one. I have not been able to remove the blade since shortly after I purchased it.
Answer: Yes, Rapala has a one year warranty for this product.
Answer: I don’t even remember, works great though.
Answer: Yes.
Q:
We eat a lot of white bass, and they dull our blades on the Mr. Twister, anyone have issues with that happening on this unit?
Answer: I clean a lot of gills, perch, crappie and bass and haven't had any issues. I do sharpen the blades between trips with a diamond wheel sharpener.
Answer: Not yet, I've cleaned about 40 white bass and 15 crappie. Still as sharp as day one.
Answer: My experience with this knife has been nothing but positive. I’ve used me twister and this stays sharper longer and the blades are cheaper. Don’t believe you will be disappointed
Answer: Not sure about white bass, but we have no problem with walleye or perch and have not had an issue.
Answer: No one has had issues so far
Q:
Can this be used with a standard 120 volt usa outlet
Answer: HAS LONG AS THIS KNIFE HAS A 110-120 CORD INSTALLED ON IT. WHEN IT WAS BOUGTH CAN BE PLUGED IN 120V OUTLET.
Answer: yes, 120 volt works just fine, however, I would suggest a ground fault receptacle or a ground fault receptacle cord/ adapter ................. have tried most electric fillet knives this is the best
Answer: Yes, it plugs into a standard 120 outlet.
Answer: Yes it can. Gift for my grandson, said he loves it. Took a little time getting use to it.
Answer: yes
Answer: Yes
Q:
How long is the cord?
Answer: I'd guess 6 to 8 feet long.
Answer: 8 ft.
Q:
Will this cut pineapples ?
Answer: Although we haven't tried a pineapple, it worked great on cutting a brisket which is way tougher! This knife is amazing. My husband uses it for everything!
Answer: sorry, haven't tried that and don't have any pineapples to try it on.
Answer: Yes. Very sharp
Q:
Some knives are difficult to grip without releasing the blades. How is this one? And how long is the blade?
Answer: It is not difficult to grip without releasing blades, but in the beginning I would sometimes hit the blade release instead of the on button.
Answer: has a comfortable grip. The blade is 7.5 inches. I have not had a problem with the blade releasing.
Answer: No problem w/blades ! they are just rite for Bass ,Pike ect.
Q:
Why does it need two blades to work? May I just use one?
Answer: Reciprocating blade they are 2 blades that work like a saw nice knife I love it you can get replacement blades at Walmart if you need a new one quick
Answer: No. Both blades are required. They move in opposite directions making slicing smooth and easy.
Answer: No it takes two blades to make it work one goes in opposite direction of the other to create a cutting motion.
Answer: No. The two blades are needed. The slice against each other in opposite directions
Answer: Sorry bub you bought the wrong knife.....this is a heavy duty fish filleting knife .....designed for cutting through the rib bones on a fish.....hence the sawing action.....good luck......Jerry
Answer: Answer ...no ....you must use both as they a reversing action to slice stronger and cleaner.will saw thru fish bones easily for perfect fillets.
Q:
is it able to cut rib bones (pork)?
Answer: Yes. It is fine for cutting through rib bones, chicken bones and other small bones. For large bones, use a cleaver.
Answer: No the rib bones they are talking about in reviews are fish ribs
Answer: No,a saw is in order for that. The Rapala HD will handle most any fish rib though.....
Q:
how many amps or watts
Answer: 120V AC60Hz
Answer: Don't know but it is fast and will do a good job. Ed
Q:
What size better 6 or 7 1/2 inch for gills and crappie?
Answer: I like the 7 1/2 inch
Answer: I prefer the 6 inch for gills, crappie and even perch and bass, especially when trimming ribs.
Q:
Will this work well cutting frozen steak filets? (For jerky)
Answer: I would not use this to cut jerky. you would never get it thin enough.
Answer: I haven't tried on frozen meat. I mostly use mine to clean fish. I would think it would work for the steak.
Answer: Haven't tried that but I don't see any reason it wouldn't.
Q:
Are the blades serrated??
Answer: Yes, of course, they have to be to cut. Some electric knives have larger serrated gaps than others, but they all have them.
Answer: YES AND STAY SHARPE FOR QUITE SOME TIME
Answer: Yes and sharp.
Answer: Yes
Answer: Yes
Answer: Yes
Q:
Will this be effective on frozen meat?
Answer: Sorry, I haven't tried it on frozen meat, but I was able to clean frozen fish that I caught ice fishing. There are two serrated blades that oscillate back and forth, so it should work.
Answer: I don't know, have never cut anything frozen with it. I do not think it is designed to cut frozen items
Answer: Yes, but let the knife do the work. What i mean by this is don't be in a hurry. Put a little pressure on the knife and work slowly and the knife will do the job.
Answer: It should be
Q:
Will it cut a turkey leg bone or a raw sweet potato without putting pressure on the handle? Can a person who cannot use left hand use?
Answer: I haven’t tried a turkey leg bone but maybe. You can use either hand
Q:
I have a 10 lbs. block of frozen pork fat that I want to cut into pieces to make lard. Would this knife work way better than a regular electric knife?
Answer: I think it would work equally. But I don't think it will cut it frozen.
Q:
Can it slice cold turkey or ham thinly?
Answer: I have never sliced turkey with it. I only used it to fillet fish.
Answer: You i it will cut thinly but a lot will depend on the one doing the cutting.
Answer: never tried it, but i don't see why not. It can cut very thin fillets of fish without tearing them.
Answer: We bought this to clean fish. But I am certain it would work well.
Answer: Don't know, never tried it for that.
Answer: It will cut as thin as your able to.
Answer: Yes. It is fantastic!

Product reviews of Rapala Heavy Duty Electric Fillet Knife Grey/Black, 7 1/2" Blade
Kathy's Husband : Where has this knife been all my life?
Have you ever bought a product hoping it would live up to its hype? I think we all have and generally we are at least somewhat disappointed 'when the rubber hits the road.' This knife is different - it does everything it promises. So far, we've cut a few dozen walleye up to 28" in length with almost no effort. It walks right through the ribs.
The Giant : Sent it back
The first time I used it the motor would stop and start even with the switch in the on position. I tried it the next day and the same thing happened. Also the blade wasn’t very flexible so it was hard to keep from wasting meat. I sent it back and bought an American Angler. No problems with this one now.
Rita Banker : Yes
Yes
Jeff B : Winner!
This electric knife is a winner. The faster blade rotation cut through meat like it was butter and the curve in the blades made it easier to insure slices were fully separated. I don't know about durability yet but so far this is the finest electric knife I've ever owned.
Kim Hebert : Good customer service
Feels good in your hand! Works well! Just give it a break gets warm! Power cord kinda flimsy! It broke but customer support from repla replaces quickly no charge
Timothy Boehlke : Broken where the blades fit in
Motor works fine, however blades must be dull as it struggles to cut into 18 Inch Walleye. Would like to try another set of blades and see if I have same issue.
I have used this rarely as it never was meeting my needs, I have used these units at resorts and always had good luck. I took mine out again today to clean some Crappies, same issues poor job. I started to inspect where the blades go in to see if that might be an issue, and it sure was. Part of the plastic has been broken off and I'm sure that is how it came. I discovered this problem to late as warranty has expired. Just make sure you inspect where the blades fit in!
Timothy k Johnson : Works good with my skins it
Cleaning fish
Bennie Mc : The best fillel nife i have used for cleaning fish
The best fillel nife i have used for cleaning fish, I also have the battery powered one and it works great and battery's last a long time.
Rebecca G. : Excellent fillet knife.
Could not have asked for better knife. Makes filleting fish a total breeze.
Ann : Only lasted 6 mos
Sending it back today. It literally quit in the middle of filleting a fish. Bought Dec 2018, returning July 2019. Will follow up with return issues.
roy louviere : Very good quality.
Very good quality and durable. I clean fish 4 times a week, all year. Outstanding.
snake driver : Best electric knife on the market
This is my second knife. The first one lasted at least 8 years and thousands of fish. Only had to replace because one of the knife releases broke. Its sad there is no parts replacement system for these knives. Very powerful. I clean fish at a fish cleaning station and see other electric knives. This one smokes the others in speed and power. You have to learn to be delicate because you will cut right thru the back bone, it's that good. Normally don't write reviews but this deserves it. Thanks Rapala for a great product. P.S. You can sharpen knives with a diamond round file and blades last forever.
b-rad : I personally think it woks better on larger fish like striped bass
I can't believe I have cleaned fish this long without one of these! I personally think it woks better on larger fish like striped bass, catfish, and crappie. I don't have the touch for bluegill yet. I think I will attempt carving the turkey this year with it too :-)
TJ : One electric fillet knife to rule them all!
This is a Monster electric fillet knife, and definitely the best model that Rapala has to offer. The motor is POWERFUL and doesn't get hot after continuous use, the blades move very fast, the handle is large and ergonomic, the power cord is plenty long, and there is even a safety button to prevent accidents. This is one of the best electric fish knives that's not something made for commercial use, and you can get additional size blades for it. Highly recommend!
D Harlan : Cut through 10 to15 pound flathead ribs pretty good. So sharp I had problems cutting through ...
Cut through 10 to15 pound flathead ribs pretty good. So sharp I had problems cutting through the skin. Finally figured out to place exactly flat or perhaps the back end of the blade needed to make contact to prevent cutting through the skin. Did fine on crappie with a slight down pressure on the front of the blade and followed the skin with no problem.
Huntsabunch : I hate the cord
I hate being tethered to a cord but I have tried several other electric fillet knives (including corded) and this one does the best job. They all take a little practice but once you get it down they are very effective. Cutting through the rib bones is what separates one knife from the other. Big fish have big rib bones and you can't really fillet little fish anyway. I ran a charter boat for about 10 years and filleted thousands of fish with a regular fillet knife. I can do it either way but if you have a bunch of fish to clean, this is the way to do it.
EastTex : This is the best electric fillet knife ever
This is the best electric fillet knife ever! However, there is one caveat. For the inexperienced, it may actually work too well. You have to use a light touch and let the knife do the work; too much pressure (and that means how hard you would press with almost any other electric fillet knife) and you will cut right through skin and bone. Just take it easy, and when you get the feel of it, you can fillet fish twice as fast. I thought the Piranha by Mr. Twister was good, but this knife is far superior.
Frank K : Difficult to remove battery
Very well made but I am on my third one in 90 days. The first heated up after a few small crappie and became to hot to hold. The second one didn’t get hot and filleted several perch and walleye. Very good battery life and ease of use but I couldn’t get the battery out. Replaced today and been able to use yet Still very difficult to remove battery but Rapala said it was designed that way. So buyer beware
Cook@Heart : The Fishermen's Best Kept Secret Belongs in Your Kitchen
While visiting my brother who is an avid fisherman, I watched him easily and effortlessly carve a roast, a ham and a turkey with a
Rapala Heavy Duty Electric Fillet Knife, and I had never seen anything like it in my life. Fascinated, I asked him to let me try it. After a word of caution about its power and the razor-sharp blade, he turned me loose with the little monster. It fit my hand like a glove, and it glided through the meat without leaving a single jagged saw-mark in the slices. I knew immediately that I had to have this knife. The wimpy little electric knife in my kitchen would not have been up to this task, nor would its predecessor. He told me I could probably find one in a shop that specialized in fishing gear, but I had a better idea and found it immediately on Amazon.com. Better yet, with my Amazon Prime, I had my own Rapala Heavy Duty Electric Fillet Knife in 2 days. Regrettably, it came in one of those difficult to open clam shell packs, and there was no case and no shield for the blades. Not having a compartmentalized tackle box in my kitchen, I realized that storage could be a problem. Not to be deterred, I solved the problem with an item I had purchased from Amazon.com a couple of years ago, Chicago Cutlery 1063947 Magnetic Knife Storage Strip and, of all thing, a working jar from my cabinet. As some reviewers noted, the knife is a bit difficult to disengage from the motor in first few uses, but mine became easier to remove with use.
tiffany thomas : very good
a must have for those of us that spend our days hunting and fishing. go slowly at first if you are like me and not used to using electric knife. I think it makes filleting a cooler of fish a lot easier. I have the filet knife that is not electric by this brand and it still works great for small jobs but this is my new go to knife for big jobs.

Aligator : Husband's Favorite
He loves it, slices like butter!
Ashley Yotkois : Husband loved this!
Great knife for fileting fish. Like butter!
Tarrant : Weak Power and Flimsy Blade
This is a worthless product! I did not use it right away when I bought it but when I used it it did not filet very well at all. The power is weak and the blade is flimsy. I tried to filet a 27" black drum and it did not even slide through it. I had to use a sharp filet knife to finish the job.
Don't even bother buying this product, total worthless!
I can do it either way but if you have a bunch of fish to clean, this is the way to do it.
warrior : I have only used this knife once as we are moving into late fall and job and fish aren't cooperating but this knife was AMAZING.
Wowzer. I have only used this knife once as we are moving into late fall and job and fish aren't cooperating but this knife was AMAZING. I had a Mister Twister Pirahna for many years. Read reviews that said this knife was better. Thought I would try it. It is soooooooooo much faster and seems to be more powerful. No wrist strain at all. Maybe the Pirahna was just getting tired after approximately 10,000 fish but so far this knife seems to be a step up. If it lasts as long as the Pirahna then I will have been very fortunate.
roy louviere : Very good quality.
Very good quality and durable. I clean fish 4 times a week, all year. Outstanding.
Thunderstruck : Awkward and terrible ergonomics
The safety is located in a terrible location and shuts off knife frequently.
The size of handle is much to large, uncomfortable, creates fatigue after a couple fish and I have large hands.
Blades unlock
Bill06027 : This fit the bill
It is great
Ashley Yotkois : Husband loved this!
Great knife for fileting fish. Like butter!
Chazz : Heavy Duty????? It QUIT WORKING after fileting 14 small mouth bass.
Huge disappointment, total junk! I purchased this while on vacation because I forgot to bring my filet knife with me. Amazon, as usual, got the filet knife to me in less than two days. We had 17 small mouth bass to filet, and I was pumped because I had a Rapala Heavy Duty filet knife that was powerful and was not suppose to overheat. The knife made it through 14 of the smallies, then quit, never to run again. The body of the knife was quite warm, and it just quit. Up till now, I’ve always liked and relied on Rapala products, not this one.
Lon S : These have sufficient power and cut well. I haven't ...
These have sufficient power and cut well. I haven't used for a full season, so do not yet know how well they will stand up.
Jerry Statton : Have used it twice so far.
Works very well, the feel of the knife seems to indicate quality.
Dennis K : Too much waste
Did not like this knife at all. The blades are too thick and not flexible enough . Too much vibration, fish would actual start to vibrated back and forth with the reciprocation of the blades. Too much wasted flesh when cleaning smaller fish.
NO advantage over a good blade.
Joan R Smith : Nice power! Easy to use!
Easy to use! Nice power!

Product as described and delivery was timely.

Anonymous : Great customer service
The first electric knife we received, one of the blades wouldn't pop out when the button was pushed, so we sent for another one. Got the new one in the mail within a few days and it works great! Happy husband :)

Kevin : Very quick
I have had this for only a very short while but it makes the work of cleaning fish much quicker than a traditional fillet knife. It easily cuts the time for cleaning fish in half.
Care appears to have been taken in the manufacturing process. It seems very well made. Would be nice if it came with a case for storage.
Can't speak to the durability but so far it's a great knife.
Kenneth Reed : Great electric filet knife.
This thing is the boss. Very sharp and powerful. Zero complaints. Have only used it a couple weeks. Too early to report on durability.
snake driver : Best electric knife on the market
This is my second knife. The first one lasted at least 8 years and thousands of fish. Only had to replace because one of the knife releases broke. Its sad there is no parts replacement system for these knives. Very powerful. I clean fish at a fish cleaning station and see other electric knives. This one smokes the others in speed and power. You have to learn to be delicate because you will cut right thru the back bone, it's that good. Normally don't write reviews but this deserves it. Thanks Rapala for a great product. P.S. You can sharpen knives with a diamond round file and blades last forever.
K. Michael Kuebler : Poor quality and zero support.
I had my previous knife for over 15 years. The cord finally gave out. VERY disappointed in this new one I bought. Used it 4 times and the piece that holds the two blades together broke off. I tried contacting customer support and got NO REPLY. The next time I tried using it one of the blades got stuck in the handle and I could get it out. Poor quality. Poor customer support. Dont purchase from Rapala!
Kim Hebert : Good customer service
Feels good in your hand! Works well! Just give it a break gets warm! Power cord kinda flimsy! It broke but customer support from repla replaces quickly no charge

dan manley : not heavy duty
bought this knife in June and it has reached the end of it's life. If you clean 4 fish (12") the knife gets so hot you can hardly hold it. My former knife lasted 6 years, this one lasted two months. I used it 4 times during this time period I should have stayed with my original brand .
AV : Works perfectly.
Simply awesome. This was a favorite at Thanksgiving for cutting up home made bread and of course our huge turkey. Glad I purchased this one, hard to find a good electric knife when reading the reviews. This one is five start.
