Questions about Summit Treestands Bungee Tether and Backpack Strap
Q:
What is the weight limit of the bungee tether?
Answer: I do not know the weight limit but I am 200# and the only purpose for the bungee is to keep the foot platform from falling too far down the tree if it slips while climbing up or down the tree.
Answer: The tether is made to connect the upper part of the stand to the lower. No weight is typically applied to the tether
Answer: It says 300lb
Q:
How should the straps be connected to the stand? (The straps themselves, not the tether.)
Answer: The tether is supposed to keep the top and bottom section tied together as you climb the tree. The shoulder straps do not attach like the original straps. I attached them with a zip tie between the two sections that go over your shoulders.
Answer: They tie on ......real cheesy I would have expected better from summit
Answer: Make sure they are hanging even and push them up so there's a loop and then run them through themselves.
Q:
I see one unit for 110.99 and a unt for 21.99.I just need one kit so which one should I order?
Answer: $21.99 is the one to get, i have them on all my treestands. Summit knocked it out of the park with that backpack system!
Answer: The one for 21.99 is just hardware and straps
Answer: $21.99 if all you want is the bungee tether and backpack strap as in the picture.
Q:
Ok so now that i've bought this. how do you attach the shoulder strap at the top. i'm lost. it would be great to get a answer today so i can hunt t
Answer: They just loop through themselves. Push the center through the top and feed the loose ends through and thread the bottom straps through the buckles. Good luck hunting!
Answer: make U in the strap, place it next to the top rung(most forward edge of the platform) run both ends of the shoulder straps thru the U wrapping the top rung. shoulder straps should be similar. hope that helps.... if not Summit website can walk you thru it
Q:
Would these work with other other brands? I have a Game winner climbing stand
Answer: I’m sure it could be easily modified to work if it doesn’t just work like it would on a summit
Answer: Definitely
Q:
How long is the tether that attaches the upper and lower halves of the stand?
Answer: The tether bungee is 36ins. and stretches to 60ins.
Answer: Specific length unknown, but plenty long for me and I'm 6'2"
Answer: At rest, (not stretched out) it is aprox. 2ft. It stretches out to aprox. 5ft.
Answer: It's 2 feet and will stretch I would say about 5 feet
Answer: It's 2 feet and will stretch I would say about 5 feet
Q:
does this hold them together when backpacking the stand?
Answer: No. These are the backpack straps
Answer: There is another strap that came with the stand that helps keep them together. The bungee tether and blackstrap just replace the existing back strap.
Answer: No. You’ll need a bungee cord or something like that. This package is a great upgrade to the original equipment, and I’d buy it again.
Answer: no, you will need a tethering strap to secure the climber/seat to the platform. I use the strap that came with my Goliath.
Answer: No the tether just keeps the platform attached to seat While you’re in the tree.
Answer: Yes
Q:
Summit neglecting instructions badly throughout product line. Can someone please make a video attaching the straps to the stand from scratch?
Q:
How does the top part of the strap connect to the stand?
Answer: You attach it to one part of the stand like a slip knot by wrapping it around the stand and through the loop, and then the other end you wrap around the stand and then clip it to itself with the clip on the other end.
Q:
Would this work on a lone wolf
Answer: Definitely would work on a lone wolf, you will love these backpack straps, they are the best.
Q:
Im 6'3" and use an old Api grand slam. Would these straps be long enough to fit comfortably and keep the stand secured to my back
Answer: yes, definitely
Product reviews of Summit Treestands Bungee Tether and Backpack Strap
Hoosier99 : Both are improvements, but take some getting used to.
I have an older Summit climber that had their old straps and tether. I was really tired of the tether getting caught between the jaws and the tree. This looked like a good solution. For the most part it is, but it is much shorter than the old tether. The problem with this is that you really have to carefully manage the bungee tether while you are putting it on and taking it off the tree. The old tether was long enough that you could get way with having it looped outside the steel cables, not so with the bungee. It has to be inside or you're going to have trouble. Once on the tree, sometimes I can feel it pulling the pieces together when I get them really stretched out.
The bungee backpack straps are an improvement. It took some getting used to, but now I feel like I can actually tighten them up so the straps are stretched around me, seems to hold tighter that way. Being stretchy can also make it easier to get the straps over my arms and up on my shoulders.
Bill : Comfortable
Very comfortable carrying straps. The leash for the bottom platform has elastic so wrapping it around the base keeps it snug. Great buy.
Robert O'Brien : Restored four (4) climbers/20Y-old “O’l Man” brand.
EXACTLY…what was needed.
NH Deerslayer : These work much better than the straps that come with the stand
Already had straps on another Summit Stand. These work much better than the straps that come with the stand. These straps should be the default for Summit stands.
Rich : Better to go with a more robust solution
The backpack straps are ok, better than the ones supplied with most tree stands, but they aren't super comfy either. They have some sewn in accordion stretch, which stretches too much if you are carrying a heavier load and the pack just rides down too far. The tether is also decent quality, but I just ended up using the stabilizer straps instead and those can be used to strap the stand parts together as well.
adam : CRAP
Both peices are garbage. Platform on my viper slid down the tree this morning and when I went to pull it back up with the strap, the clip pulled right off. Luckily i caught it or i would have been in trouble. Also, the way the backpack straps attach to the stand is bull. You have to undo them every time you go to put up your stand and redo them when when you go to pack it out.
james h smith : Five Stars
Excellent quality, fast shipping
sean : Comfortable
Definite upgrade from the old straps I had on my stand. The bungee helps get it real tight for long walks
Brad : as I liked how my Summit climber carried
Used this on another brand stand, as I liked how my Summit climber carried. Worked like a charm.

Terrible product - no instructions and you have to disconnect the straps to use the stand. Don't waste your money!
Nathan Y : Not impressed
Maybe I’m an idiot but the method for attaching this seems really ridiculous. The instructions are non existent, and when I put the straps on, they slide back and forth on the bar where you attach the top of the strap. Expected more, summit! I shouldn’t have to put zip ties on a product that is purpose made for your stand. The most disappointing part is that the straps are MUCH more comfortable than the normal straps that came with my viper. You almost made a great product.
tim h. : Junk
Don't waste your money , it's a horrible strap system
sean : Comfortable

andrew godin : It's not same design as original
Sucks doesn't have the loop like the original. So it slides back and forth. Horrible. I should have sent it back
Travis Pierce : Great!
This strap makes a world of difference. Much better than the stock strap I've had for years. I wish I would've bought this sooner

Original straps on my summit Titan were OK and worked for me for many years.
But these are a HUGE improvement they are wider and have some give in them very comfortable!! Glad these are available I have no regrets purchasing this great product, my shoulders thank me :)

works great
Thomas C. : Great product, a must have!
I really love this product. I use a classic viper climber and this makes a big difference when you are walking distance.
James : Great
They're backpack straps and they work very well. Made carrying one of my stands very comfortable and I was able to carry everything in one trip versus the two I was making in the past.

Great products!
kelsie : So comfy
Awsome product! So mush easier to put on and take off. Did have to shorten the straps.
Ken C : Love anything made by Summit
I replaced the strap that came with my Summit Viper (2009 model) with this one and it came with my new (2014) Viper SD. I am ordered three more sets to use on my hang-on stands. I like the bungee action of the straps because it does not cut into your shoulders like the older straps. The bungee tether strap is a must for any two-piece climbing stand because you will not get that sudden stop when going up like you do with a non-bungee tether. The cinch straps can be used on anything... I use them to help secure the stands so they are not banging around and making unnecessary noise when carrying them (it annoys me). Last years strap held up through rain, sleet, freezing and hot/dry temps with no dry rotting so far.
Daryl Weaver : Great investment
Outstanding addition to my viper!!!
Dan : Four Stars
I suggest these to anyone who does not have a strap for their climbing tree stand. Awsome price.
Glenn Louque : Summit Treestand Bungee Thether and Backpack strap.
Bungee Tether work great, it doesn't hang up like a regular cord would. Backpack strap makes it very comfortable when carrying stand in and out of woods.
Robert S. Brown : Better than no Straps!
Way better than not having a strap at all, but I can’t believe Summit can’t come up with a better way to put backpack straps on their tree climbers!
cindy schneider : summit backpack straps
BEST PRICE ,VERY FAST SHIPPING!
Lee DuBois : Not the most functional. Umbilical cord is nice.
I love the umbilical cord. I hate these backpack straps. I’ve tried to set them up numerous different ways. I personally don’t care for them.
david shields : No strap to attach to climber
The stretch and padding was great but it doesn't have any way of attaching it to your climber by the shoulder area. If you get these straps make sure you have a way of attaching it ( I used a small tiedown strap) to your climber.

Thomas C. : Great product, a must have!
I really love this product. I use a classic viper climber and this makes a big difference when you are walking distance.
CourtneyM : Much better!
Much better than the straps that came with my Summit Tree Stand. The bungee in the strap definitely adds comfort. They seem a little tight at first but once you break them in they're great. Having a quality strap makes it much easier to carry my stand and gear into the woods. The material is durable and the adjustment pieces at the bottom hold well. I would recommend this product to anyone that has a Summit Tree Stand that came with the basic shoulder straps.
Dennis DeLong : Five Stars

I bought these as replacements for the standard straps that came with my Summit climber 5 years ago. These straps make lugging your stand SO MUCH more comfortable because the have a "bungee" like stretch to them that makes a huge difference while walking. The straps do not dig into your shoulders like the original ones. For anyone who carries their climber into the woods these are a must have.
JBart86 : Great
