Answer: The SX3000 and SX3500 share the identical frame and drive - the difference is the spool arbor depth and the corresponding capacity - the spools interchange.

Answer: easy - it's a hex shaft handle. Remove the handle nut from the opposite, slide the handle out, put it into the other side, and tighten the handle nut into the new side.

I've fished a Libra SX3000 now 3 years in the salt. I bought it because I was so impressed with a Cetus SS500 I've used for XUL salt on a Japanese rockfish rod over 9 years now (including big specs). I've fished the SX3000 on a dozen inshore kayak trips, and I'm even more impressed with this reel. It retired my 30-y-o Penn 4400SS. The long spool lets it cast out of sight, especially on a long ML rod, and the drag has performed flawlessly on all inshore species, including speckled trout, redfish, and snook - a double +snook on a spec rig. I had never handled a smoother reel. TicaAmerica Customer Service is also responsive, making it easy to pick up a spare spool. A nice feature on these spools is the line hook, making them easy to store. SX3000 capacity is perfect for inshore, right at 200 yds mixing 15-lb braid and 12-lb fluoro.

After those first 3 years in the salt and hundreds of fish, back for an edit and a 2nd SX3000. When I went looking for a back-up spinning reel and found the SX3000 on sale for $50, it was a no-brainer to buy a second. I've fished it side by side with the new Stradic FL4000. If you can double the ante, go with the Stradic, but until you get to the need for crazy big drags, you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference in function between the two.

My 3rd reel and 3rd version of this review added a Libra SX1500. My niche is 2nd XUL salt rockfish rod with 6-lb copolymer, and swapping spool to 10-lb braid for a ML Falcon Open Hook special - retiring the Penn 4200SS my daughter grew up fishing. I went through the exercise comparing with the Stradic FL1000, and trying to justify buying that, but this lighter niche doesn't need all those great design features. In this size, no significant weight difference and identical capacities. The Libra has long-spool/oscillation, but does with their improved version eccentric gear. Not being sealed (but has sealed bearings) is a bonus in the incredible smoothness and balance of this reel. A smooth, adequate, and finely adjustable drag. And again, good response from Tica US getting me that 2nd spool.
