Product reviews of Casting Fishing Reel
Sadie Parker : 5 stars
I am going to write this review in the simpliest way possible...because while I love to fish, and this is my favorite reel... I don't know how to accurately descrbe the drag and everything else.
My husband installed this reel on all of my rode (I ended up with two reels for me and one for my husband , a lefty). We both like all of these. They were easy to install and they work perfectly. He adjusted all of the knobs on mine.
It doesn't back lash easily (unless I hit a tree with it when I am throwing) and it doesn't when it hits the water either. There was no learning curve with this reel either. I caught a 10 lb bass (my b iggest ever) using this reel. I am thrilled with it and I would recommend it and even buy it again.
Patrica Tamburrino : Great Value
Purchased for my grandson, his father who is a long time fisherman thought is was very good, was impressed.
Gabriel : Best Bang for Buck
The thing about this reel is that it is just unexpected for it to be this good, I got this reel in order to lend it to people who come over that don't know how to use a bait caster. When I tested it for myself I was astonished at how far it casted and with a little tuning no birds nest to be seen.
Ann Neris : A good option
Strong and solid, looks and feels well made like it will last, casting is smooth. If it doesn't I will make sure to update. But so far we are pleased with it.
Greg : Cost very little
Cost little and, so far, works great
Miguel Cruz : Awsome reels
This product is by far the cheapest rigs I have ever bought and let me tell yall something it did not disappoint! They feel heavy reeling is awsome I have had my rods submerge in water for long periods of time wile fishing and they have never failed this is the best bang for your buck!!!!!

Dan : Pretty solid.
I’ve owned several products from Kalex. Overall I’d say they’re a pretty good budget friendly company. You can spend so much on equipment, but not everyone needs the best of the best. I’m an average fisherman. My most expensive reel is around $130 and my cheapest is about $30. This reel is a good middle of the road caster. It is built well and I’ve had no problems with it the several times I’ve taken it out. Like I said I’ve had good luck with kalex and own some casting rods and reels and some spinning set ups.
Nathen T : Vary good for beginners
For the money it is great
YCastro : High performing reels for low price!
High quality reels for such a great price! Use it for all types of fishing paired with my Kalex rod! Caught a 11lb bass the other day on this and the reel was able to take the pressure. It's durable, smooth, and light!
Charles Moore : Bang for Bucks
Good reel, I have purchased 3

Clam Manson : Great first baitcaster, price WAS hard to beat before it was $70.
It’s been great to learn on. At the price I paid, which was $20 or so, I have nothing to complain about yet. Been throwing a lot of heavy spinners and swimbaits on a 7ft medium action rod. I have been targeting pike but only got some 2-3 pound bass so far, we’ll see how it handles something larger.
UPDATE: reel is still working as when I got it just over a year ago. Sees a lot of use, I even throw 3 oz swim baits with it occasionally and no issues. I have even caught carp on it. I have used it on the cape cod canal throwing spoons. It sits in the bed of my truck exposed to the elements. I have not even serviced this reel. I’m not paid or given any deals or products for this review, just being honest and sharing my experience. For those who don’t a lot of extra money to throw around on gear, this is a solid bait caster for the money.
Bill H. : Great reel for the price.
I have been an avid bass fisherman (tournaments etc) for better than 45 years using Shimano reels exclusively. I bought a couple of these to try out and leave at our ranch for the guests and grandchildren to use. I am truly impressed at the quality for the price. I will purchase more.
Taylor : Good bait caster reel
It is a good reel for the price.
Danny Garcia : WOW ???? GREAT REEL, GREAT PRICE!!!
Great reel, Has not disappointed. If you want a budget reel this reel is for you. I budget fish all the time. Lol ???? Awesome reel though no lie. Get sum!!! I bought 2 at this price.
TWilhite : Worth every penny...
Ok. Let's start off by saying, "I bought this thing to RE-learn how to use a bait casting reel." Said it. It reels smoothly. It looks fine. It functions like a bait casting reel should but would be better for smaller fish. I put it on an appropriate pole and took it to a pond. I adjusted it so the lure wasn't suspended in mid air not moving and not falling like Hans Gruber from Nakatomi Tower. I rared back and then let it go. I kept my thumb on it "lightly" so it wouldn't go whackadoodle on me and what do you know? It went about 15 yards and no backlash. I tried it again and spent the next 5 minutes getting the birds nest out of the reel. Tried it again and it worked. I try and try to get 15 casts in a row without a backlash. So far, I can't do it. I have caught some fish with it and will say a 3.5 pound large mouth bass seemed to be all this reel would handle. I don't often catch bass much bigger and I'm glad. I wouldn't want to.
Fast forward just a bit. I got another bait casting reel. I bought it from a retail store that has large fish tanks in it. It also cost considerably more. I take it out and every 30 or so casts, I lose my mind and forget what I'm supposed to do and cause a backlash. Caught a 4 (ish) pound large mouth on it and reeled it in with NO trouble what so ever.
So what do I want to really say here? It's worth every penny I paid for it. I used it as a training reel and I'm glad I did. I will still use it from time to time but will make sure I pay very close attention to what I'm doing. If I figure out something revolutionary that allows me to use this reel without a backlash, I'll update. In fact, I'll update this next spring as the weather is cooling off a lot and I will be putting my stuff away for a while.
Would I recommend this? Sure. As a starter reel. You master this thing and you'll do well with any bait casting reel.
Lorien : Good product
Drag is only problem
Danny Garcia : WOW ???? GREAT REEL, GREAT PRICE!!!

Tee : Breaks fast
Had this for 12 days and the drag is broken used it 3 times and today it didn’t want to work
Gambrel Family : From the makers of Abu Garcia & Penn Reels
For the guy who really likes to use a great quality reel...Kalex is the one.
Built by same folks that make Abu Garcia and Penn Reels.
Trust me, I did my homework and I’m on the water 3-4 days a week.
Tight budge but want a quality reel
Look no farther
I have both right handed and left handed
Tasha H. : Amazing value
I love this reel. It cast so far and it's super smooth. It was also 12 dollars. Yes your you heard me right.
S. Rivera : What a joke!
What a joke! Selling a plastic $16.00 reel for $71.00. Only a fool will fall for that.

Mary V : Drag needs work
I found it difficult to properly adjust the drag. This necessitated increased effort when casting. I may have re-injured a rotator cuff repair of several years ago.
