ever find out if this reel has anti reverse?

Answer: Yes, it has a continuous anti-reverse which is activated by flipping a switch at the bottom of the frame, just below the reel.

How does this compare to the daiwa sf-1000?

Answer: The two are not in the same class. The Ultralight is designed for ultralight lures. It is hard to beat for the price.

George : One short Season

Historically Diawa has been a great brand. This small reel I can't say enough about is performance. Problem is it only made one partial season of heavy fishing. Spring on Vail broke after 3 months. I probably won't buy Diawa again

Bruce Locher : Nice little spinning reel!

Absolutely no concept of “sheerness” or “thickness” in rating an ultralight reel, and the “lightness” is best described as average for the reel size. The bail operates with minimal resistance... better than other more expensive Daiwa and competitive reels I’ve purchased. I like the folding handle better than screw on handles on my Exceler reels, despite it is likely heavier than necessary due to material selection. The drag is smooth, but 5 lbs is pretty light. I would buy more of these if I was stocking up on moderately low priced ultralight spinning reels.

Nicely built reel - metal construction and the folding handle is nice. Small spool is great for an ultralight setup.

I haven't gotten out to use the reel yet but one feature I really like is the folding handle. Just got line on it though and it feels nice. Can't wait to put it to use
