ever find out if this reel has anti reverse?

Answer: Yes, it has a continuous anti-reverse which is activated by flipping a switch at the bottom of the frame, just below the reel.

How does this compare to the daiwa sf-1000?

Answer: The two are not in the same class. The Ultralight is designed for ultralight lures. It is hard to beat for the price.

Confession I haven't used this yet but just fondling it in my hands I'll tell you I'd buy one of these over a Shimano Sienna 500 or 1000 I been using any day. It's so much smoother, the bail is so much nicer and Daiwa put together a really excellent lightweight high quality reel here for a great value. Looking forward to catching some crappie with it. I love it already.
