Khang Tran : Compact but fragile

I bought the Fold-N-Stow Fishing Net (47" long x 16" wide) so that I could carry it easily and stow away in a small bag when I was done. It didn't list how many pounds it could hold on the box, but I figured a fishing net would be sturdy enough to hold some weight.

It opens into a triangle shape net, and it looks like it would be big enough to land most of the freshwater fish I catch. However, it is rather weak. I put a 5lb weight in it to test and it held comfortably, but did bend slightly.

I'm not sure the exact terms of a net are, but here is how I look at it:
1- The body: This is the pole
2- The neck: This is the part connecting pole to the net
3- The head: The actual net itself

The neck is bendable, as this is how the net folds down for a more compact storage. The first 3lb striped bass I landed, the drag of the water and fish was enough to bend the neck over enough that it 'popped' out of the plastic. The head of the net now kinda swung about limply in my hands and I couldn't pop it back in without tools. I was able to fix it later using a Phillips screwdriver, but I probably won't take this particular net out again. I can just use my fishing line to hold up a 3lb fish without a net.

The handle does extend and the whole net looks sleek and feels very light but I wish the construction was stronger.

I gave it 2 stars for this reason.
