Does anyone know the accuracy of the 15lb vs 50lb versions of the Rapala scales? If the 50lb is just as accurate for small weights why get the 15lb?

Answer: Hi Henry, I have been using the 50 Lbs for a few years now and its accuracy is fairly precise. Have had no issues with it, great product. You may be off by an ounce or two from the 15 lbs one, but unless you are in heavy tournaments, get the 50 lbs one.

Answer: I've had the 50 for a long time and it's always exactly what the certified weigh in scales say at tournaments. Unless you'll never need more than 15 pounds I can't see why one wouldn't go ahead and get the fifty. They are very accurate.

Is the lip clip pictured on the scale the actual clip? Everywhere else with this scale for sale shows a different clip

Answer: I got two. One is the squeeze clip and the other is the hook.

Answer: Rapala warranties are for one year

Answer: Don’t bother calling Rapala for warranty or any other questions for the matter. They never answer the phone for customer support issues. Very frustrating dealing with that company off of amazon.

Answer: I think it is meant to clip on the fishes mouth but you can use it on a weigh bag too.

Answer: I believe its for a fishes mouth but it's stout and would hold a weigh bag easily.

Answer: It can be used for either. I use it to clip on the mouth. It's much faster and more efficient for culling in a tournament. Scale has proven to be very accurate

Please learn from my mistake! Save your money. I purchased this product because it was the most expensive on amazon with decent reviews. I was hoping expensive meant quality. I was severely wrong. Unit didn’t work properly out of the box. None of the advertised feature worked. Touchscreen would freeze up and stop working after a few minutes of use. Only way to fix, was to remove the battery’s and start over. Problem continued every time it’s was reset. However, my biggest complaint of all. I called the company Rapala to speak with a customer support representative for advice. They never answered the phone day after day, never called back, goes to voice mail every time. A company that doesn’t support there products or customers That’s all I need to know. FYI Amazon made the return process very simple and hassle free. I was relieved with that. Don’t recommend! Good luck.

The best scale I've ever owned, I love being able to store the weight of my previous catches. This scale includes a stainless steel hook, however I prefer the already attached clamp.

Update: After getting the scale wet while out kayak fishing the scale failed to work properly, this is very disappointing, a fish scale that is going to be used around water should be waterproof. The last thing a fishermen should be worried about is getting his fishing scale wet...

Trying to win the derby this came in handy untill the water worked its way in somehow from the handle to the digital display and ruined it. supposed to be water resistant and i tried to keep it dry but fishing and rain go hand in hand. I didnt think it ever was exposed enough to ruin it but its no good anymore. I'll buy another brand with better gaskets in it next time.

This was a Christmas gift for my husband who is an avid Bass fisherman. He did a lot of research and decided on The Rapla touch screen 50lb scale.
He had to try it out right away and hit the lake 12/31 in the crazy Oklahoma weather, his only complaint was the sound control. The touch screen feature didn’t seem to work for the volume but other then that he was impressed with its durability and accuracy!

Quite accurate. I tested it on various weights and was impressed. I wish it was a bit easier to turn on after you catch that nice fish. Holding a 6 lb largemouth in one hand while fumbling to try to get it on and zeroed is a bit of a challenge as mine never works at start-up. But a minor issue for a good quality product that is actually accurate.
