Answer: After reading this question, I went into the kitchen, filled the sink with water and put the knife in. It did not float.

One person mentioned that their knife rusted fairly quickly, has anyone else had trouble with rust on theirs?

Answer: Had a little rust issue once. I was younger and thought that stainless steel couldn't rust, so I just put it away wet in a humid storage area in the Caribbean. When I came back a few weeks or maybe a month later, it had a few rust spots that wiped off pretty easily. After that, I just wipe it down with an oily rag or spray it with WD 40 before storing it in humid places. No problems since.

Answer: In my opinion this knife is not a carry around. It’s very sharp and designed for cutting and preparing fish. It’s almost like comparing a kitchen knife to a personal pocket knife. They both have there pros and cons. It’s a great knife performs well, however I would hesitate to use it as a tool for anything else. It’s a great sheath and I keep it stored with my cutting board instead of on my person..

Used this knife once and it rusted. I was on a kayak and I made 1 cut into 1 bait fish. Got home 4 hours later and when I went to rinse the blade with fresh water, it already had rust streaks on it. I also have stainless braid cutters and stainless steel fittings on the kayak, none of which had a spot of rust on them. Maybe it would be OK for freshwater, but the stainless steel used in the blade is not up to par in my opinion.

It came undamaged and sharp enough to cut paper.

Since it's stainless steel, it doesn't hold it's edge for as long, however for salty wet environments, stainless steel is necessary to avoid corrosion.

It's classic Scandinavian grind blade means the blade is usually thick while it's cutting edge is longer and more acute than thinner blade designs, making them stronger and sharper than other blade designs. However, due to thier longer and more acute cutting edges, Scandi blades don't hold their edge as long as the more popular blade grind designs. On the other hand, Scandis are also the simplest edges to hand sharpen using just a whetstone.

The sheath was functional and the knife snapped in and stayed inside securely, so I usually wear the knife in the sheath around my neck with paracord.

Great multi-purpose knife! For the price, I haven't ever seen a better all around knife.

Great knife! I use this around saltwater only and it's holding up well so far. It's sharp and cuts even frozen solid mullet 2" thick. The blade protector is nice if you plan on keeping this in a tackle box and don't want it in a huge belt holster like most come with. I doubt there is a better knife out there for this price.

I bought this to cut bait when out on the bay fishing and I don't want to use the whole 'whatever' we are using for bait. This little knife is sturdy and cuts up baitfish, shrimp, squid, etc with ease. Didn't have a problem with gripping it. Nive little bait knife in my opinion.

I have a few of these and love them. Very smart and lightweight package at 2.1oz knife and sheath. Nice scandi grind comes very sharp and is easy to keep it that way. Sheath has a lanyard hole at the tip to make a great neck knife. I use it as an outdoor/camp knife also. 4" blade comes sharpened all the way to the handle which is molded around the blade for only about an inch... it's been very sturdy despite this.

I read a lot of different review before deciding on this knife. I'm very pleased with the purchase.

Impressions: sharp, sturdy, serrated edge will certainly saw through the bait. I have not had any rust problems in the limited time I've owned it.

Going in my tackle bag, I needed something with a sheath that was not too long. This certainly fits the bill. I like the way the sheath is designed to let air in to help dry the blade out. Also, with a four inch blade it will fit inside my tackle bag with no problems.

As another reviewer mentioned, the sheath cover is very tight. It is certainly not going to slip off by accident. The location of the sheath release is on the blade side, so you do need to be careful when taking it off (let's make sure that the sheath is the only thing you take off).

I'm not a professional fisherman, just one who enjoys the piers and surf every now and then. This is a great fit for me.
