The picture is showing 7' radius with 3/8" Clear Mono Mesh. Is this accurate?

Answer: Yes it does come 7' radius with 3/8 clear mono. When u order my they had a photo with said blue mono. Which was one of the reasons I wanted it. Now that have use it a lot it is the best, strongest , net I've used and love the neoprene wrist band.

what radius and what mesh size is the SS-1000? I'm looking for a 1/4 inch mesh.

Some people are complaining that the weights are not lead they are plastic and that they slide around causing it to tangle. Are the weights lead?

Answer: No, they are definitely NOT lead. They are some other type of metal encased in plastic. A simple check of the Fitec website would have prevented all these wrong answers.

Answer: They are not lead yet does tangle some time. The strings tie to the weight keep broken. I can't return it since I already used it.

Answer: I assume they're lead. .. they may be coated with plastic but it weighs what it's supposed to and for the size of the weights it's lead or something equally dense. They don't cause tangles.

W. R. Russell Jr. : Cheaply Made...2 Nets Failed within the First Hour.

I'm the resident officer on a public fishing park and have been for the past 19 years...so to say that I'm exposed to a lot of fishing gear would be a HUGE understatement. The park is on a tidal marsh and creek mouth on the Intracoastal Waterway and cast nets are one of the prime ways of getting bait and since I'm cheap, pretty much my only way.

A buddy of mine wanted me to teach him to cast, so noticing that my much loved net had gone missing, we each got one of these from a certain large sporting goods retailer nearby (forgive me Amazon).

Within the first hour of casting, we each had a torn-up net. Mind you I've been casting for bait here for a couple of decades, so I know what a cast net should and shouldn't be able to handle. They both failed castastrophically from minor snags. Not from the snagger cutting the nets as could be forgiven, but simply the mild tugs to free a snagged net caused the fabric to rip giant holes across its length and in the case of my net, half the take up lines also popped. These were mild snags, that at worst should've resulted in a couple inches of repairs if that, not complete shreds of brand new mesh.

I can only assume that in order to make their price point, this company is using an extremely low grade of mono in the fabric and take up lines and now we're out about $70 on the lesson for 2 useless nets. My old net, wherever it is, lasted several years in the exact same spot, so it's not a matter of catching new structure...you could feel the fabric ripping free as you retrieved the net. That's a sickening feeling that I would spare you.

Avoid these...they are cheap junk and not suitable for anything a real fishermen would use them for.

Cheap net. Basic entry level. Weights are plastic. Not real lead. Sinks slow. Only 1lb per ft. Horn is small and cheap plastic. Opens easily and easy to throw because it's so light. But not the net for me.

Pikato : Great Net.

Great net. I didn't get to catch anything with it because I don't use a casting net often, and I lost it while using it...It caught on a rock and ripped apart when I was trying to pull it out of the tangles (Which is pretty obvious, but it was the only way to try to save it.) It sinks fast, and if you get a good cast, it spreads really nice covering a lot of area. Perfect for catching bait fish (I use it for shad). It was pretty hard for me to cast considering the size of the net compared to me (7 feet net compared to 5'9 me). So if you're new to net casting (like I am) try to buy something closer to your height.

The case was broken when we got it today and the picture shows that it's in a bucket not some cheap broken carrying thing that's clearly not durable enough for this net ????????. It's been weeks since we purchased this product and no response on what ya'll will do about it.

anatol70 : Nice heavy cast net

Nice heavy cast net. Not the priciest or best, probably, but for my purposes, it works as well as I can throw it. Good quick sink rate, and well made. If you're shrimping, probably add duct tape to the outer edge to slow down the sink rate. Nice neoprene wrist strap, and floating poly retaining rope. Get a five gallon bucket to store it in (and use to empty fish out of it) because it's not fitting back in it's box unless you're an engineer or a magician.
