Is this the new 2018 model with the better grease tray or is this old stock?

Answer: Mine was delivered with the one piece drip tray.

Does this have short legs for table top use or legs that fold out and make a stand?

Answer: You can either fold the legs up to sit on a table or fold them out to sit on legs. Does not sit very high on legs.

Answer: The legs shown in the picture with the cover on the grill were on the previous model. The Trek model has the short legs and the carrying handles are on each end. I have the previous model and think the Trek is an improvement

Answer: Yes. I placed mine on top of a cart, for mobility. It does have short, approx. 3" in length.

Answer: Not 100% sure but I think a 300 watt would power it. Call the Green Mountain help line. They can tell you for sure.

Has anyone used a deep cycle trolling motor battery on this?

Answer: Yes you can

Answer: Yes. If the smoker has electrical power. The pellets are fed automatically from the hopper to the burner.

How long does a hopper full of pellets last

Answer: I would guess at least 10 hours on a lower (200ish) setting. I have been able to run my Davy Crockett twice for at least 5 hours a go without adding pellets.

Answer: It varies on the temperature that you’re cooking with I can cook at least three pizzas back to back at 365° one hopper full.

Answer: It depends on what temp you are cooking. Higher temp, higher pellet use, lower temp, lower pellet use. There is no answer to your question but the pellets will last long enough to cook whatever will fit into the unit.

Answer: An electric probe heats the pellets to smoldering, a fan kicks on bringing it to a flame? maybe just real hot coals. I don't think an actual flame ever comes up?

Answer: Heat and smoke are generated by burning wood pellets. The pellets are ignited by an electric element and once burning are self sustaining.

Answer: Interesting question. My best shot.. so on start up when power is turned on the grill goes through several steps to automatically start grill. Auger adds pellets to burn cup. Lites pellets in cup, electric resistance coil in cup, confirms its burning. Raises temp to 150. Then you take over by putting in temp u want. If temp is low auger adds more pellets slowly. If temp is high it wont add pellets. Also fan keeps air flow acros burn cup.

How far does the WiFi reach?

Answer: Depends on how good your signal is. But you could control it from where ever when you hook it up to their server, it just uses your data. So if you’re data is unlimited you will have it made. You could control it from miles away. It’s an amazing grill.

Bought this as a gift for my husband. The extras are very handy- love the magnetic lights especially. Favorite feature is controlling it with the phone app. It is small so needs to be on the deck or our back porch to bring up to usable level, but we wanted a low cost option and didn't need a huge one. It fits several racks of ribs or meat and also fits a fish pan nicely. We have made smoked almonds, salmon, chicken, stuffed jalapenos, ribs all with great success. Burgers were great too. Check out GMG website for recipes. The second rack is a nice option although we have not used it yet. We have used it every weekend so far. Cord is long enough to keep it a distance away due to all the smoky goodness.

I eat lots of meat on the daily. Bought a highly recommended grill. Set up was straight forward. I read the GMC manual and watched a few Youtube tutorials. Got the phone app and have been happy with my purchase so far. Almost impossible to under or over cook food using the build in thermometer. I'm a neat freak so I use aluminum pans, foil and/or parchment paper to decrease cleanup. The grill gets very sooty after 5 uses but cleans up easily. I hand vac out the ashes periodically.

Gave this to my wife for Christmas. A big hit. She’s a cook and loved it. Did 2 fantastic meals. First St. Louis ribs, then a Capon. Just perfect. Now today for New Years she got an expensive brisket, 6 lbs. the grill took a huge dump. Kept running itself up to 550 degrees and wouldn’t reset after numerous tries. Will call the seller on Monday and try GMG. Hugely disappointing, lost an expensive meat, and ruined the dinner experience for her. Oh well. An exercise in perseverance

So much better than I had anticipated! The ease of using an app to monitor your temps and adjust as needed makes smoking large cuts of meat over an extended period of time a breeze!
The WiFi connection can be a little glitchy at times but it’s likely our internet service as it’s not the best and it’s easily reconnected.

The company customer service was also noteworthy. Our grill was missing a cover when we received it and they were lightning fast at sending one out for me.

Got this grill for Christmas and we love it! We’ve only done a few things on it, but they’ve turned out great. It’s very user friendly and the WiFi connectivity works really well, but you have to connect to the grill or regular WiFi separately. The grill space is enough for 4 people very easily, and we fed 8 people a ham. Be aware that, like overfilling a pot, if there’s not enough airflow around the item, it will take longer to cook. The instructions and trouble shooting are very clear though, so our ham came out great. We’ve also done some non-meat items, and they were also fabulous.
The rib rack is a nice feature as well and we’re planning on trying other small items (like cookies, burgers, etc) on it. We haven’t had the chance to really use the lights yet, but they seem pretty bright, and the magnets are very strong. It’s able to be carried by one person, but a bit heavy and you definitely need 2 people to collapse it. Other than a couple little idiosyncrasies to learn we absolutely love it and are excited to not have to turn on this summer!

Great grill so far except for the cover. It is really cheap material, ill fitting and came with some seams that were already pulling apart. This cover probably won't last more than 2 weeks under my covered porch. Love the grill hate the cover.
