Questions about Rapala X-Rap Jerkbait XR10 Fishing Lure
Q:
Is it good for striped bass ?
Answer: Works great for stripers in california fresh water and large mouth bass. Cought both within 10 cast of each other.
Answer: I think the question is directed for freshwater striped bass like in arizona- and yes- this works. I wish it were more white---because the baby white and striped bass are white/silverish- but I have caught many on this very one. The little light colored--white with dots and stripes- but not a lot- swim baits work too. Just enough to make them look like real fish---I usually use sharpies or metallic permanent markers and put some green or chartruese along their back---then hang on.
Answer: I have not used it for striped bass. But, I would think it would work for them.
Answer: Don't know - never fished for striped bass in South Florida
Answer: Haven't used it for strippers but good for wipers and trout!
Answer: Yes but I would use the Saltwater X-Rap -- it's meant for saltwater with beefed up hooks - this is the freshwater version
Answer: Yes
Q:
do these work for rainbow trout? and if so, any particular colors. Thanks
Answer: smaller size #4 & #6 are good for trout--- trout color, olive green & black and silver are my favorite colors for trout.
Answer: Yes! I use them for Rainbow and Brown Trout. My go to color is Firetiger, or the black bass color.
Q:
How long is the lure?
Answer: Depends on what you want. They come in several sizes from about 2" up to about 5 or 6". I like the x-10 which is about 3 1/2" for pike and bass. Good luck.
Answer: approx. 4 in.
Answer: yes
Answer: Hi Dennis, it's 4" long and the weight is 7/16 oz.
Answer: Hi Dennis.
Answer: The lure we purchased was approximately 4.5". I will try to post a picture of it if I am able to.
Q:
are colors "Hot Head" &"Pink Pearl" in sizes 10 & 12 still available?
Q:
How do you fish this bait a steady reel?
Answer: You can do both. A steady reel or a quick jerk short reel and stop and repeat Fish are not reliable try different things until you get a strike. then use that pattern. Different times of the year (ie water temp) fish act differently. If one thing would work all the time there would no professional fisherman.
Answer: to start do a search for KVD how to fish a jerkbait. very informative video on the basics. then you have to find your own style for the type water that you fish. I tend to do 3 to 4 quick short jerks with a slack line then pause moment and repeat. or quick retrieve with a constant sharp tip twitch. again you need to experiment where your fishing. have fun
Answer: jerk it ,and let it sit a few, then reel a little then jerk it, and repeat
Answer: I've caught fish on all styles of retrieve. Mix it up
Answer: Slow short jerks. The colder the water, the slower the retrieve. Even full stop then twitch.
Q:
What measures has, weight and how long is
Q:

Answer: Have had good luck with mine
Q:
Does the X-Rap suspend when it is paused, or does if come back to the surface, or sink. I really need one that suspends when paused.
Answer: Yea. It sits completely still on the pause. No floating or sinking. Great lure
Answer: It suspends
Answer: Suspends
Answer: It might move up or down a little bit but not much. It's a great jerkbait.
Answer: Put on a couple of heavier hooks and rings. That will fix your problem
Q:
How big is it?
Answer: It is 4" (100mm-10sm)
Answer: Approximately 4 inches
Answer: about 4" long.
Q:
What's the hook size, on the front and back?
Answer: I’m sorry, I don’t know
Q:
Can you lower the shipping if I order 12?
Q:
what is the depth ratio?
Answer: Is the "depth ratio" the same as "running depth?" If it is, the description says the running depth is 3-8 feet.
Answer: Swimming depth 4' - 6 '
Answer: At least 3 feet, depending on the retrieve or trolling speed and substantially deeper if you a 1/4 or 3/8 ounce rubber core sinker about 3 feet ahead of the lure
Answer: 5 to 12 feet.
Answer: 3 to 6 feet
Q:

Q:
Can you catch pike with this lure
Answer: Yes I caught multiple pike last summer on this lure.
Answer: I personally have never done it, but with the variety of fish I've caught on it, I would assume you wouldn't have an issue. I also use a different color. It's the one with the black on top and silver on the bottom
Q:
What are some of the Best Rapala X-Rap Jerk Bait Colors for LMB? Thank you!
Answer: look at the bait fish at your spot and try to match the color. in a lot of the lakes I fish a little green is best and in others a slight blue is the trick.
Answer: Perhaps the colors of their local lunch! In NE LMBs love baby sunnies and crappies, so that is what I try to match.
Answer: Silver, Scoop, gold and perch. Perch is my favorite.
Q:
Are these jerkbaits really good I'm new to Bass fishing and what other lures are really good for Bass fishing need help
Answer: Great lure for bass fishing. Try sticking to the natural colors within the waters you fish. I have had great success with these lures on slow jerk action on top water areas
Answer: yes they're really good the way to fish them is to jerk them really quick and let them sit there and suspend and then retrieve a little ,and jerk and twitch again it plays on the basses instinct to attack awesome lures
Answer: This is a good bait. Rapala is a leader in the fishing industry of lure making. They are not cheap but they do perform well. This particular bait is best fished floating on top...Cast out, let it set 20 to 30 seconds. After ripples disappear from splash, give small twitches then pause. If no bite, cast another spot repeat. Other presentation is to cast and begin reeling back to boat. Also can vary the retrieve with sharp snap and pause retrieve. I've done well with these three type presentations. The Twitch retrieve works best in cooler water and the topwater presentation works best in shallow warmer waters. Good luck!
Answer: use monster worms, with weighted 4/0 hook throw deep let sink make sure to pay attention because a lot of times they hit on the way down, when it hits the bottom slow twitches ,and retrievel

Product reviews of Rapala X-Rap Jerkbait XR10 Fishing Lure
Stephen S. : Picture does not match
The lure feels durable and a good weight, but the color does not match the picture what so ever. I ordered the gold but the one I received is black on top with orange underneath. I have no problem using it, was just expecting a little more green and a little less orange. The box says it's the gold color but the image does not match. Will add an image when I get home.
Nick L. : Four Stars
As advertised, but no luck with the fish yet!
Nathan A : Great water movement
Great lure cought one of largest large mouths with it and catch a tone of perch too. But the tail didn't hold up more then three fishing trips
D. W. : Fish love it
I go on a fishing trip to Wellsley Island every year and these X-raps do the job. The fish up there love the color scheme.
Luther Wohlfeil : Nice bright color and as always the quality of Rapala ...
Nice bright color and as always the quality of Rapala is great! Not even 2 minutes trolling in the lake and a northern attacked it.
Edward Wick : When it's hot, it's hot!
Earlier this year right before the Sunfish spawn, in a small canal between two lakes the Largemouth Bass would move in to feed around sunrise. White Bass too. This lure and the size smaller were irresistible to the Bass which were pushing the bait fish against the banks. Cast out to the bank count to 7 pull it 3' then jerk, jerk, twitch, pause, repeat. They would always hit on the pause. 15-20 fish in 40 minutes every 4th days.
I added some photos. That is just half of what I caught that morning using a X-Rap.

I just returned from a fishing trip up in Canada. I caught a bunch of northern, lake trout, bass, and walleye. This lure only brought in northern which is fine. It's interesting because it's almost in between a flouting lure and a countdown. Good lure, durable, catches fish.
M. Belken : Great feeding stick bait.
I like the gold in greenish or discolored water, have silver w/ blue that has been hit so hard, it leaks. great feeding slick baits.
