Answer: Reverse lever on a surf reel it is necessary when you walk back from your cast to your chair. Or on small reels it gives you presentation options.

How much line will the gx10000 will hold

Answer: I use 50 lb braid, so it holds 300 yds of that plus about 120 yds of 25 lb mono backing. Just don't fill it too full, about 1/8th" from the lip or it makes wind knots.

I've fished with this reel for three years now. I use braided line and artificial lures for surf fishing. Long casts and a fast retrieve are important to me.

This reel has worked flawlessly. It winds the braid on the spool very uniformly, eliminating wind knots which are a PLAGUE on less well-designed reels. It retrieves 45 inches of line for each turn of the handle. That's fast. Compare it to any other reel you're considering.

Lastly, the price is very likely AT LEAST 20-30% below anything comparable. If you buy one, you won't be sorry.

Decent reel. Not worth it at its current price point. Line constantly gets under the reel spool.

Update: reel cover will not snap into place. Time to see how good customer service is.

I like this reel.smooth fast retrieve. But the spool has a very short skirt. If you try to take advantage of the 1000 spool and add what would be a normally full spool. You will spend time cutting away the nest. However I do recommend this. The tackle shop in Lewes DE on New road. Is 20.00 lower.
