Questions about KA-BAR 1477CB, TDI Law Enforcement Clip, Partial Serrated, Coyote Brown, Hard Sheath, 5 5/8"
Q:
Does the kabar tdi come with a belt clip?
Answer: Yes, it does. Unfortunately, the provided sheath is a real piece of crap. You'll have to spend extra money buying a decent sheath for this blade. I did.
Answer: yes
Answer: Sure does, a really strong one too
Q:
Is this a legit ka-bar?
Answer: Yes it is made my Ka-Bar and i feel that the quality is the same as their other products
Answer: It’s legit. I bought it as a gift for a friend of mine who was going on deployment. He knows his stuff when it comes to knives and firearms and he was genuinely happy with it.
Answer: Absolutely. Carry it on my ruck strap. Small, so it's easy keep on a belt clip on you're hip, or small of the back.
Answer: Yes it is
Answer: Yes
Answer: Yes
Q:
Can the sheath be incorporated into a ankle sheath?
Answer: I don't see why not. A ill ingenuity and creativity I'm sure a guy could come up with something
Q:
Does the kabar tdi come with a sheath
Answer: Absolutely, it comes with a coyote brown sheath with pre-mounted belt clip.
Answer: Yes. It comes with a hard plastic sheath that matches the color of the handle. The sheath has a sturdy metal belt clip.
Answer: Mine came with a kydex belt-clip style sheath.
Q:
can it be carried horizontally
Answer: with the sheath that comes with the knife it can only be carried vertically
Answer: Not officially. I carry mine on the shoulder strap, but it is zip tied in place.
Q:
Is this version black or tan.
Answer: TAN
Answer: It’s a tan version
Answer: I have a tan 1 and it's a great little knife
Answer: The one I have is tan
Q:
is this knife suitable for strong side reverse-grip?
Answer: You can safely carry reverse grip, however, it is recommended for standard.
Answer: Yes, it is designed for either hand carry.
Answer: Yes, very comfortable in either direction!
Answer: Yup, works great both ways
Q:
Is it coyote or foliage?
Answer: It is coyote... almost a desert tan.. slightly lighter than magpul gear coyote if that helps.
Answer: Tis coyote my friend.
Answer: Yes it is coyote
Answer: It is on the darkest side of coyote brown. The shade can be much lighter from different companies. It is quite dark. Much darker than a Magpul FDE. Maybe the color shade varies from batch to batch. That is possible. I wish it were lighter like the Khakis most of us wear. I may paint it a lighter shade. Would be simple to do.
Answer: Coyote handle and sheath. Black blade and belt clip.
Answer: Coyote
Answer: Coyote
Q:
Where is it made ,
Answer: Taiwan. There is a version made in the USA. It is expensive. Around $230. I see they are down to $150 now. Probably because of the price and value of this knife. The Colonel.
Answer: It is manufactured in Taiwan for KA-BAR and made to KA-BAR specifications.
Answer: Taiwan. It's still a great knife to carry. I real like mine and carry it with me all the time.
Q:
Is the combo blade available in black?
Answer: Yes, the item number from Ka-Bar is 1481 and is sold on Amazon.com at the following link:
Answer: Search for Ka-Bar 1481
Q:
Does the coyote brown come in a straight edge?
Answer: NO, the Coyote brown comes only in combo edge.
Answer: I have only seen the black come in the standard non serrated blade.
Answer: No. The design and use for this knife calls for the serated edge. This is a defensive blade for last ditch fighting, not a Daily EDC knife.
Q:
Can it be used for horizontal carry
Answer: The sheath is designed for vertical carry but many have self rigged the for horizontal carry.
Answer: The sheath is tight but I would not trust it without a piece of paracord or small diameter bungee cord to secure the knife in the sheath
Q:
Does the clip fit a 1.75" belt?
Answer: It can but the clip will expand and keep getting wider, I run it on my pants then my beld around the out side to hold it more securely
Answer: YES, I just double checked with my riggers belt and it works fine. The knife is a good product for defense. The only thing I had a problem with is the knife staying in the sheath. Mine came out and I lost it.
Answer: yes it does.....
Answer: Yes. It will work.
Q:
Is this blade a lowvz, novz, or full bird?
Q:
Does the belt clip can be attached either side of the sheath?
Answer: Yes I'm left handed works on either side
Answer: Yes it can
Q:
Will this sheath work with a tek lok?
Answer: I don't think do. I tried to use a tek lok I had on another kbar I had but it was too large and the holes didn't match up. I think the only clips that work are the ones that kbar make for the TDI but I didn't have a small tek lok to work with, so ultimately I'm not sure.
Answer: No unfortunately not, the holes won't line up but a mini tek lok may.
Answer: Yes, you can easily mount the smaller tekloc by drilling two additional holes. It's a very simple job but cops can't figure it out?
Q:
Is the sheath black or coyote?
Answer: The sheath is coyote to match the handle with a black metal clip for your belt.
Answer: Mine came with a coyote sheath.
Answer: it is coyote.............
Answer: Coyote...nice knife, really like mine
Answer: It was coyote as well.
Q:
Is this able to be worn so the knife sits horizontally on a belt?
Answer: Hello...the sheath belt holder can be adjusted to various angles including horizontal. Since the knife is on about a 30 degree angle, the handle can be horizontal with the sheath on a lesser angle. My biggest concern is the sheath does not LOCK the knife in too well and I lost my knife when attached to a small shoulder bag.
Answer: You would have to drill it yourself but it's designed to be carried Handel up like a sidearm so you can draw it like a pistol with your off hand
Q:
Does this knife include the sheath with clip ?
Answer: Yes it comes with a kydex sheath and the TDI reversable clip
Answer: It does
Answer: Yes it does
Q:
is this usable for a lefty
Answer: definitely. lefty, righty, front grip or back grip the sheath is customizable to go on the belt anywhere left or right
Answer: Yes it is, as I am a lefty also. Very nice knife. Personally, I chose the small one for myself.
Answer: Yes, it can be used ambidexterously.....It is actually intended to be used to protect the side of your body your firearm is carried on. E.G. If you carry your firearm on your right side this knife should be carried on your left so it can be used to protect against someone attempting to get their hands on your firearm in CQB (close quarters combat). It would work equally well if carried on either side depending on whether you are a lefty or a righty. Hope that helps.
Answer: Yes. Easy to change mount to fit either side. As other stated, I'm right hand, firearm on right and carry the knife on left side so you would mount knife on right side.
Answer: Easily used by either hand. The belt clip that attaches to the sheath are also reversible allowing you to put where ever on your belt you would like
Q:
Does this come in a black handle model?
Answer: I don't know about black but my tan 1 is a great little knife
Q:
The powder coating on my blade is rough and somewhat textured. is that normal? i wish it were smooth. i will exchange it i need to.
Answer: That is the normal finish.
Answer: Mine is like that as well. I believe this is the normal finish to be expected.
Q:
Does it come with the sheath as pictured?
Answer: Absolutely, it comes with the sheath and pre-mounted belt clip.
Answer: Yes this does come with a sheath.
Answer: Yes. This is an excellent knife and sheath.
Answer: Yes it does and the clip can be moved to the other side.
Answer: Yes.
Answer: Yes, mine did.
Q:
Can the sheath attached with molle style belt
Answer: It'll work on a 1.5" belt no problem. I wound up getting a custom sheath made. You can order a kydex sheath with soft loops to attach to molle/pals/Alice.
Answer: I use mine on a standard military style belt. It clips over the belt.
Q:
I ordered a kabar b0018vdl2o and it said it was made in the usa and i got mine and it's not made in the usa it's made in taiwan why is that
Q:
Will this sheath fit on molle webbing?
Answer: Not unless you modified it. The larger TDI's come pre-mounted with molle straps. 1482 through 1485
Answer: I don't know why people are saying it won't because it will.. I have it attached to my chest rig. The belt clip on back slides right into standard military molle of 1 1/2" and stays securely. It's a nice knife
Answer: It will not unless you take the clip off and make a rigged attachment to the sheath
Answer: The clip resembles a moment clip almost but a bit more rigid
Q:
Is this legal to carry concealed?
Answer: Always consult your local laws. When in doubt, consult with a knowledgeable attorney,as opposed to any law enforcement officer.
Answer: It is here in Ohio. It would depend on your state laws.
Product reviews of KA-BAR 1477CB, TDI Law Enforcement Clip, Partial Serrated, Coyote Brown, Hard Sheath, 5 5/8"
buncha : Five Stars
good
Shackle Rustyford : The knife itself is perfect.
The knife is great, the sheath is pretty good EXCEPT... the grommets that the screws go into have no means of securing them while you turn the screws. No torx or hex wrench or anything - it's like a perfectly round hole. I don;t know what they were thinking when they decided to use these grommets. If you need to change the sheath from left to right handed (it ships left handed orientation), you wind up with loose screws and a loosed retaining clip... REALLY BAD ENGINEERING. If nto for that, this would be five stars. If you are right handed, figure on a struggle when changing the clip. I am mechanically inclined and am going to have to use vice grips as there is no other solution... one should not have to struggle to do this.
Cesar : Perfect for tactical security and concealment
This is a perfect concealment knife. Good for tactical security or any type of safeguarding. It's great for protection, especially in a defensive situation where you can use skills such as Kali, Karambit, Silat and others. It comes with a matching hard sheath. Overall it feels good, and sits on your belt or waist like a mini gun that is concealed. Pretty cool. Not bulky at all. It came in pretty sharp. Overall, I am extremely pleased. I definitely would recommend.
Bradford A. Harkness : Pretty neat
Taiwan made kabar, seems like they almost all are anymore. It wasn't very sharp out of the box but it's pretty nifty. I carry a SOG trident at all times but if that's not available to me for some reason I'd feel better knowing I have this. It feels solid, bigger than expected (bok a knife thing and it's tiny) the belt clip is Allright and seems to hold it solidly, the belt clip is tan as well except the clip, itself which is black.
PickyBuyer : Five Stars
Absolutely love this, especially with the Kydex holster from NSR Tactical, carry it every day.
Megan R. : Descent blade for its purpose
Sits a little deep in the sheath. Causes me to adjust my grip after pulling it out. Would like a full purchase on the grip when retrieving it.
Don Nelson : Fantastic little knife
Fantastic little knife... Sturdy and sharp. Great last ditch knife when the chips are down. Also suited for opening that next Amazon Box. Sits a bit high on waist, So I would look for a horizontal belt option.
Samantha Radford : Black coating on blade coming off after 2 days...
The idea of the knife I love, the way it feels in your hand, the IWB carry is very comfortable and ideal. The only thing I have against it is that I've had this knife for 2 days and just from putting it in and taking it out of the sheath, the black coating on the blade is chipping off... I either want a replacement or my money back..
Boats_fb6 : American made in Taiwan
Bad ass little fixed blade reminds me of a hobbit sized Arnold Schwarzenegger. The blades sick the mud ex holster is great too. Some dudes messed their clips up because they're obviously eediots. Buy it and hopefully one day you can defend America with it.
MadMonkey : Four Stars
GREAT knife, very concealable and extremely fast to deploy. I'll be ordering a second for EDC.
rickyh : Good Product
Nice product, fast shipping.
Megan R. : Descent blade for its purpose

Great handy little knife for self defense, also perfect for a replacement box cutter at work.
MSpud99 : Very well-made.
They came extremely sharp. Great retention and sheath.

Amazon Customer : Great
Great
Chris Gerard : Nice Quality Knife
The knife looked more yellowish online and I was worried about that but the actual knife is more of a flat dark earth color than the photograph on Amazon. I am glad I bought the smaller version of this knife. The bigger one might have printed against my shirt. The sheath is made well and retains the knife with no problem. There is a definite click when you sheath the knife and I can tell it's in there. The knife has a good feel and grip to it and is a full tang blade. Practicing with it I believe it's mostly designed to be a jabbing tool rather than for slashing, but I'm no expert. The blade is thick and solid and I believe will do the job it was intended for. The clip on the sheath seems to stay in place on my belt rather nicely. I can barely feel it on my belt; not heavy at all.
Update:
I failed to mention that the knife comes with the hex (or star-shaped) wrench you need to switch the sheath to left or right side carry. It even comes with 2 extra screws in case you lose or strip one. I suggest doing this on a flat surface where you won't lose any of the screws or rubber washers. I know some have commented on the tiny screws but to me it's non-issue since they provide the tool to modify the sheah. I tried to add another photo but it didn't allow me.
Samuel : The only con for me at least is that the blade is a tad small
I was not expecting this blade to come home this fast. amazon prime sure does get the job done otherwise than the fast shipping the blade is GREAT.
mglvr : Perfect for concealed, every day carry.
Small in size, but big in quality. Nice box, instruction manual, warranty card, and even an extra mini-allen screw with wrench. These items might not mean much to some, but to me it signifies a company that takes pride in its product. Highly recommended. Perfect for edc!

Rob Wright : Absolutely perfect for concealed EDC.
Great little EDC knife. Comes super sharp and well articulated even to my big hands. I may purchase a few more of the other blade types too. Great price, great product.
nathan raber : Awesome knife
Some bad reviews on the sheath but I think it’s fine very sturdy and knife is great
Matt Wilson : Quality
Only issue is the coating on the blade it chips off easily

MAM 8670 : BEST KNIFE for the size
Over the years I have bought several of these. Fits on your kit or chest rig perfect.
Raymond : Five Stars
Very nice
strobe : perfect. sheath was better than expected. kabar always makes top notch blades and sheaths
This knife is perfect. Awesome quality. The sheath is very nice and molded of the same color as the handle. Conceals nicely or can be put on a vest if wanted. Great tactical Karambit variation for the price. And it came the day after I ordered it, I was surprised how fast it arrived.
Thomas & Holly : wow!
Wow this knife is outstanding!
First of all the shipping was crazy fast, might help that i have amazon prime but still, shipped within 2 hours.
The knife itself is fantastic, perfect size for what i was looking for, very sharp out of the box. I am working on my Law Enforcement Cert and after looking through enough things decided i wanted a backup knife for when im carrying just in case and this is the perfect size. I saw some people complain about the clip that was on their sheath but mine was the heavy duty upgraded one which made me pretty happy, didnt have to worry about ordering that. I realize this isnt a USA made knife and for the price and quality thats fine, would order many more in the future! Might get a couple different colors for myself and friends.
Grant Winchester : Ka-Bar keeping the quality #1
Great product. Exactly what I expected from Ka-Bar. Definitely recommend it for personal protection, Just make sure to practice ( with something similar without an actual blade for safely). Practice saves lives.
Mike Codde : Awesome last ditch blade
Absolutely incredible design from TDI and Ka Bar on this knife. It's very comfortable even in my big hands and it's the perfect addition to a duty or first line for getting a bad guy off your gun.
Wizekracker : Good news, and bad news.
Good news is that I can't hardly feel it when it's clipped on my belt. Very comfortable to carry.
Bad news is that I can't hardly feel it when it's clipped on my belt. That could be an issue in the unfortunate event it falls off.
Other than that, it's very handy. The handle feels like it's made just for my funky little hands. While the blade, small as it may be, can buy you some time if you do get in a confrontation with a perpetrator. I can't see taking a subject out with something of this size, but it will give them a nice little incentive as not to try and assault you.
I've had different types of belt clips from different styles of sheaths, holsters and what not. But the TDI system is probably one of the best made, and best thought through ones I've seen. A+ Ka-Bar!!
Amazon Customer : Love the knife but the sheath is junk
Love the knife but the sheath is junk. The knife moves around in the sheath and it's just two pieces of plastic screwed together that doesn't completely seal on all sides. Knife is worth the money but spend a few bucks on a quality Kydex sheath.
Krunch : Great purchase for easy carry.
Received in quick fashion, blade is solid, holster is solid, with that said it's easy to place wherever needed. I'm personally adding it to battlebelt.
Peter C : Really nice little knife
Very happy with everything about this knife. Easy to grab and pull quickly and a good, sturdy clip for attaching to a belt. I wear it support side for just in case. The length is acceptable for carrying concealed in every jurisdiction I know of but I'm sure it's still plenty capable. The blade/handle angle is a little different but it offers really good ergonomics and security of grip. The coyote tan handle and sheath look great. Some smaller backup type knives come with a handle that is too small to grab well. I like that even though this thing has a smaller blade the handle is still well sized for getting a good grip.
I generally carry an HK OTF auto but this thing is a lot less expensive and, because it's fixed blade and just requires a grab and pull, I find it's quicker.
Stewbert : Excellent at what it was designed for
I like the design. Good full-handed grip with jimping, unlike other short bladed knives. Very easy to draw and you don't have to unfold it for defensive purposes. The holster holds it tightly; I would not hesitate to use it as a neck knife. And the holster is reconfigurable for whatever side/grip you want to use.
I don't like serrated blades. But, it is $10 less than the other models... I just needed it for a week in Chicago, where my SOG pocket knife is a 'dangerous weapon'. I reshaped the blade to 1/32" less than 'dangerous'. Since blade length is measured from tip to the furthest point on the handle, it would be nice if the handle didn't curve back on the top. That adds 1/4" to the official blade length.
Faust : Amazing knife
This knife kicks ass! It's small enough to conceal, the scabbard is great, holds the knife very firmly, belt clip is strong everything about this blade is made strong very sharp, I carry one of these on me anytime I leave my house!
C Baker : One of my favorite knives. I wear it IWB on my weak ...
One of my favorite knives. I wear it IWB on my weak side (left side) and it sit comfortably with no issues. The description states that the color is "Coyote Brown" but mine is actually Flat Dark Earth. The knife is extremely sharp out of the box. The grip is very ergonomic, whether you have the knife in the top of your hand or the bottom. The sheath is excellent and holds the knife very well.
buncha : Five Stars
good
Kyle Goldberg : great little knife
Hello I am a LEO as well as a military member. This is a great little back up knife for your duty belt in case someone goes for your weapon its easy to grab, releases quick, has a very good grip(i have medium/large hands), and is very sharp so its good for a quick grab and stab action. I also plan to carry this as an everyday carry off duty since it compliments my ccw very well and after reconfiguring the sheath is came with(switched the side the belt loop is on, took 2 mins being its just 4 screws) its very comfortable and you dont even notice it on you.
buncha : Five Stars
good
Nico Schoenfuss : Belt clip useless
Knife is perfect, but the belt clip is useless, it will bend and the clip will no longer stay in place when trying to remove the knife. So I would say it would be rendered useless in a self-defense situation, you will be trying to stab someone with the knife sheath
Amazon Customer : Wonderful
Great quality, great communication
PickyBuyer : Five Stars

Ron J. : A must Buy
Excellent product for the price and seems to work great so far. Will definitely pass the word on about this great product and company.
chilovyek : Awesome
Love this knife. It is my everyday concealed carry knife.
Twizzi464 : Amazing
Omg this is the best knife i have ever owned. Absolutely love it I recommend it
Ryan McCormick : Nice knife
Nice but could be a little sharper out of the box but easy enough to sharpen.
