This was the first time I had two remove two hooks when fishing a senko. This little guy had a circle hook right in his eye,
I got my hook and the other hook out no problem but this was definitely a surprise... Anyone ever seen this?

i have caught both bass and catfish with hooks in them, but never one in the eye. with the bass its usually in the throat and i will use the through the gills method to remove it. with the catfish a couple of times i caught them with hooks coming out of their ummm "waste hole"...

Caught a bass with a swimbait hook in its cheek a few weeks ago, and several times before. I've also caught bass that were missing an eye. Never caught one with a hook in it's eye though.
On a side note... last summer I was fishing an area that I frequent for snakeheads. I was fishing a horny toad and a snakehead bit the foot off. A few weeks later I was fishing the same area and caught a nice snakehead. When I took the fish home and fileted it I also checked what the stomach contents were, and found the missing foot from my horny toad.

ive ripped a fishes eye out on accident cause i snagged them and was reeling it in and all i got back was eyeball 
and ive gotten some pretty nice baits like new spooks and such from some bass and snook lol

haha, i too have reeled in just a fishes eyeball. once i reeled in a fish and there was an eyeball on the hook but the fish i caught had both of its eyeballs, i have no explanation for that...

If you lived near me, I might ask where you caught that one. I had a good solid hook set last week and then snapped the line in some timber (totally my fault).

Two years ago I caught a nice largemouth on a shakey head with a leader and hook coming out of its "waste hole" ..lol went back one week later to the same spot with the same shakey head and caught the same bass! Thought that was pretty cool!

Someone prob caught that fish and felt bad so inside of digging the hook out they just cut the line and released the fish

That is why I always have side cutters on me. I would cut off the tip and the barb and slide it out easier. Hooks are not worth screwing up a fish imo.

I've caught several bass with hooks in their mouths, throats, and a couple coming out their backsides. Some of the bass that have had the hooks in their throats were having a difficult time feeding and were extremely skinny. Probably saved their lives when I removed the hook. I've seen big flatheads that looks like Christmas trees from all the baits and crappie jigs stuck all over in them.

I too have caught a few fish with hooks in them. I think there's probably two main reasons why this happens...
1. People go way overboard with setting the hook too hard for how light of equipment they're using, and just break the line, or pull the knot right out.
2. Amateur fisherman that don't tie the knot right. Then when they get a fish and set the hook (even though setting the hook the RIGHT way) they're pulling the poor knot right out.
There's obviously other reasons why but I think these could be a couple of the bigger ones.
If I ever caught a fish with a hook right in the eye like that. I would take it home and have it for dinner, better a quick death and in my stomach going to a good cause than only having one eye and struggling to survive.

I came out very easy and there was quite a bit of line. If I were to cut the line it would have been closer to the hook...

Just pinch the barb flat and slide them out. No need for cutters then. I've caught six fish this year that I've pulled hooks and jig heads out of. A couple that were rusted so they broke right in half when I tried to remove them

Snagged an eyeball that was bigger than any snook eye that I ever saw, just wish it would have grabbed the hook.

I've hooked a lot of fish in the eye socket, but never through the eyeball. However I've caught fish well over 4lbs that were blind in one eye but heathy as can be otherwise.
I cant count how many bass I've caught with hooks in their guts, I've always managed to get my hook and the hook that was left in the fish out. Just last week I caught a dink with a bait hook in its belly and a 6" snell line hanging out of its mouth. I got the hook and line out of the little guys belly. Bass are hearty, resiliant fish that can adapt and survive well.

This spring, I had a small bass to take a swipe at a spinnerbait. The trailing hook went through one corner oh the eye socket and came out the other eye socket. I took the hook out and threw the fish back in. It floated for about 10 minutes, completely lifeless. I looked back at it and it was swimming away.
If I catch it again, I'll know it. He's gotta be cocked eyed after that.

I caught a nice 5lber the other day that was like that. Seemed to be a healthy spawned out female that was blind in her right eye.
I also caught this little guy on a 4" senko that had a fluke with a 4/0 ewg attached to about 10' of line stuck in his throat.

The first bass over 5 pounds i ever caught was blind in both eyes. Back then I was oblivious to how much a fish can do with its lateral line so i was extremly surprised.

That doesn't look like a circle hook to me. I crush all my barbs down so releasing the fish is a breeze.
Poor guy had a pretty rough day!

I have never caught a fish with someone elses hook in him but I have caught 2 different bass that had my hooks in their mouth

I forgot to mention. I caught one 3lb bass last month on a wacky rig that had a tiny #8 baitholder hook in the top back of its throat. The only thing that I can think off happening was that someone caught a small bluegill and the bass ate it and broke their line. When it ate the bluegill the hook must have come out and hooked the bass while it was chewing.

It's not. Looks like an octopus hook. A circle hook would not have snagged the fish.

Looks like someone's wacky rig hook. Fish probably bit the end of the worm and the hookset drove the hook right through his eyeball. Since the fish was snagged he probably ran like a freight train and broke the guy off. Pinching the barb and removing was the right thing to do.

this has happened to me a few times. I usually take a pair of needlenose and pull as much line out of the fish as I can. better than having the fish swim around with line coming out of its butt
