Hey Fellas; What baits do you always have rigged when you go out? Does not have to be a specific brand, but type of bait.
I usually have 5 rigs
Spinning with a Rapala #11 or a smaller wacky rigged worm
The 4 Baitcasters:
5 inch Trick Stick
Crank
2 types of jig heads and trailers
in mid summer this switches up from a crank to topwater plugs at night
and one jig rod gets a l spinnerbait
and sometimes a frog
Shore Fishing; I have an old metal single drawer OLDTOWN tackle box, with a good pond assortment One rod and reel, mostly the spinning rig
Just one
Well, this is an ever changing thing for me, but right now I would say:
Casting:
Swimbait
light jig
Spinnerbait
Buzzbait
Spinning:
Wacky Trick Stick
TX Trick Stick
Split Shot/Slider
Yeah Once I get some debt straightend out i am working with 4 Bizzle's advice and next season will bring a swim bait outfit in the spring
Assuming I am in a boat and fishing for green fish:
Fat Ika
1/2 oz Micro Munch Tackle jig/ GYCB Flappin' Hog or NetBaits Baby Paca Craw
Lucky Craft Pointer 100 or 128 (baby bass)
3/8 oz Cavitron Buzzbait (early), black on black
5/5 oz XCalibur Xr50 Rattle Bait (blue & silver w/ orange belly)
http://www.***.com/descpageXCALLPSCRNK-XCRB.html
For brown fish:
Mostly a split shot rig and live bait!
LC Pointer
GYCB Fat Ika, Kreature or 5" Single Tail Grub
From the bank:
I only carry one rod, an assortment of soft plastic and jigs.
If I fish hard baits, usually just one "choice of the day"
8-)
I have four rods, and this is what I have been using for the last three weeks:
Megabass Griffon Crankbait Green back/orange belly clear sides
LC RC1.5 Blue back/chartreuse Crank
Terminator Green White Spinnerbait with two colorado blades silver and gold
Something either T-rigged or Weightless (10' Culprit Junebug Worm, Bass Assassin/Charm Assassin straight worm, Sweet Beaver, or an Ika.)
I've been doing very well the last month, better than I have ever done before... I think it's a combo of the season, and a few things I've been working on coming together.
Right now, it's all about shallow crankbaits, jerkbaits, lipless crankbaits, and spinnerbaits.
Falcon
I almost always throw the same thing
Blk blue jig or pbj
crankbait
tube
creature
I usually carry 4 rods, so this is what I usually bring:
-Weighless t-rig trick stick
-Shakey head or jig
-frog or spook
-crank
crank
spinnerbait
shakey head
drop shot
jig
#1-jig n pig
#2-search bait, spinnerbait/lipless crank
Right now:
jig and trailer
spinnerbaits
shallow crankbaits
Rage Tail anacondas, toads and shad
On my spinning rod I usually have a small shakey head with a roboworm or a tiny trap.
I usually bring 4 baitcasters
1. weightless setup for sinkos and ikas
2. t-rig setup for flappin hogs, kreatures, and brush hogs
3. A 'heavy cover' setup (braid) with a 3/8 jig and a flappin hog trailer
4. A Lake Fork Tackle magic shad swimbait on a chatterbait head. (not really a numbers bait, but it gets big fish)
This is always what I start with, and if need be I'll change it up.
depending on lake or river im fishing but this is the usual:
5/16oz skirted jig with small craw trailer
small shallow crankbait (usually firetiger)
1/2oz spinner (white)
5 or 6 inch senko (watermelon or pumpkin) / fat ika (same colors)
shaky head with 4-6 inch worm
other rod usually has grub or tube
id love to have a swimbait rod but i think it may be a waste of time in northern VA. please tell me if im wrong
Uuuhhhhh........sorry Muddy, was that question for me too??? ;D
Big O
Spinnerbait.
I was just out last night packing for this weekend's trip. I can't take everything so I try to get it down to a minimum. ;D ;D
One rod will have a 5/0 EWG hook tied on for Senkos and Ikas.
One for Flukes, switch to tubes if the shallow bite isn't there.
One with spinnerbait, switch to crankbait if needed.
One with a Shake2 head, for hula grubs, brush hogs and bacon rinds.
One for toads, switch to jig/trailer if the toad bite ain't happening.
One T-rig, first choice of bait a GYCB Big Kahuna Cuttail worm.
One with an Ike's Spike jighead and 3X worm.
Spinning gear didn't make the cut for this trip.
Fat Ika/Senko
Crankbait
Spinnerbait
T-Rigged Creature bait or Worm
Lakes for largemouth:
spinnerbait
crankbait (usually a deep diver)
tube
Rivers for smallies:
crankbait
jerkbait
tube
Crankbait
Spinnerbait
T tigged worm or creature
Jig n 'trailer
watermelon seed fluke
booyah spinnerbait
texas rigged blue powerworm
Most of this summer including yesterday:
Norman Crappie Crankbait
Spinnerbait
Buzzbait
Rat-L-Trap
Topwater popper
Tx rigged worm
Shakey head finesse worm
Slider
Exposed point wacky rigged finesse worm
Lighty weighted weedless wacky rigged finesse worm
More heavily weighted weedless wacky rigged finesse worm
Sometimes I'll take a few extra rods depending on the body of water and include:
Carolina rigged lizzard
DD 22
Weedless wacky rigged Trick worm
Chatterbait
Super Fluke
Swimbait
Flutter Spoon
Geez Wayne: I have a 14 ft tin boat, if I put that many rods in there would be no room for me ;D
My jon boat is 12'. I carry more than those when I use my bassboat. I have 52 rod/reel combos plus some extra reels, so I have an adequate selection for various presentations.
Changing lures while fishing takes too much time, if the lure is not in the water, the chances of catching is slim, LOL
1st rod - soft jerkbait or soft stick of some type
2nd rod - shallow - medium diving crank, or a spinnerbait
3rd rod - popper or buzzbait
3 are always the same:
Wake Jr.
Drop Shot
Jig
The other two rigs I tie on something related to the bite/weather/time of year.
i always keep a 4/0 hook on my worm rod and just switch plastics (usually use a trick stick though)
and then i always have a clip tied on my crankbait rod so that i can quickly switch cranks. i will usually be using a Rapala DT of some sort depending on the depth im fishing. its usually a DT 03 or DT 06.
Speed-worm setup: 1/16 oz screw-in/ Zoom Uvibe speed worm
Lipless crank setup: SPRO aruku shad jr.
Considering the "ALWAYS" in your question:
a weightless t.rigged soft plastic ( senco or french fry)
a jig / trailer
a t.rigged worm or creature bait
a spinner bait
Like most of us here, i switch baits with the seasons, although i have a dropshot is rigged all year. The other 5 rods: big spinnerbait,dd22,big shallow crank, Flash, jig or big worm.

I carry 8-10 rods. But I never leave the house without a spinnerbait rod, a buzzbait rod, and a Brush Hog rod.. and lately I could just leave the house with just the buzzbait rod and slay em all day...
Always?
An old Terminator Titanium 3/8oz spinnerbait that's been really good to me.
A Rat L Trap. Shad or chrome/chart.
One worm rod rigged with a 1/8oz bullet weight and a 2/0 wide gap for tossing worms.
That's it. Everything else is seasonal or lake dependant.
Trick worm and a 2/0 Gammie hook. As far as color uhh... Green pumpkin green, green pumpkin blue, green pumpkin gold. I think you see a pattern here.
-tumnus
When I'm going to the usual hole, I bring a frog, and T-rigless worm, ( ) and a spinnerbait. But, i can only bring 3 poles, (2 casting, one spinning) I don't have a boat some I'm VERY limited to a few pole and a box. (most of the time i'll have some spinnerbaits, a buzzbait, slug-o, some a soft plastic jerk baits, and maybe a crank bait and a (hard) jerk bait.
I usually go out with 5 to 7 rods.
The only thing I always have rigged up is a senko.
Everything else depends on the water conditions, season and weather. I've fish some lakes that are crystal clear and some that are full of junk weeds and dirty. It just depends on the conditions
I generally bring 6 rods with the baits changing depending on the season. The only baits that remain constant are a jig and crankbait. I always have a jig and crank on. The weather has cooled here in a Texas, and I'm headed out in the morning. I've got an H&T HT2 in shad (fat shallow crank), a custom flat sided shallow crank in Tennessee shad, a homemade 3/8oz finesse jig/speed craw trailer, a bone colored Yellow Magic, and a watermelon shad Slug-go. I've got a few spinnerbaits/chatterbaits and several soft baits in the bullpen.
Senkos.

Wow...you sure keep a lot of soft plastics rigged up! They get one or two rods of mine on a good day.
Gosh, really depends on the water I'm visiting that day, and then the conditions of the day, or hour. I carry four rods, as that's all my float tube will allow. Up to three rods if I'm fishing from shore.
For the smallish pits and res I fish most now, the 4 rods are designated:
-Jig/pork (often a Nichols' Mango) on a 6ft MH spinning.
-Spinnerbait on a 6.5ft MH casting. This rod doubles as a light slop fishing rig.
-a plastic (worm, tube, soft jerk) on a 7ft MH spinning
-a crank or topwater on a 6.5ft Med casting
Some waters and seasons I exchange one of the above for a 6.5ft med spinning (finesse), or a 6.5ft and 7ft H spinning or casting (heavy work).
Wow...you sure keep a lot of soft plastics rigged up! They get one or two rods of mine on a good day.
I am glad I am not tied to one type of bait or company, it would limit the possibilites too much. As much as I love plastics there have been days that were A ONE because of Rapalas or Cranks and nights with Jitterbugs and Colorodo Bladed Spinner baits that would have been Zipped had I stayed with Trick Sticks or Worms.
Your right Muddy...one evening a couple of weeks ago, the neighbors kids and I had a slugfest on small spinner baits and rattletraps. Then the next morning, a friend and I took our wives and whacked the same group of fish on jerk baits and flukes. They had so much fun, that evening they grilled the steaks while he I drank beer and watched ball games.
But for the last few years the majority of my fishing is about checking baits, so it's Jigs and soft plastics. And no complaints here 'cause that kinda style suits me just fine.....slow and easy.
