> Okay so I swung by one of my fishing holes today after work . Got down to the ramp and someone has lifted my boat of my trailer . NOW the boat was locked down on a private lake . Only 6 of us have access to this piece of property . I have checked with the other 5 guys and have contacted the local authorities . I left my boat there on Saturday knowing I would be back to do some fishing and bring it home today . Never in my life have I ever expierenced anything like this . What BS . If a fella wanted a little 12 ft jon boat , go buy one . Don't cut my locks and walk of with mine > Just had to vent and I hope this doesn't ever happen to any of you guys

Thieves tick me off. I could deal with losing a boat in an accident, but somebody stealing it would burn me to no end.

Sorry to hear that! Hopefully, the police can find the moron that took it! Check the local classifieds, as well as Craig's list or Ebay too. If they're dumb enough to steal it, they may be dumb enough to try to sell it. Good luck and I hope you get it back!

x2 search classifieds and craigslist wouldn't surprise me if the idiot would try to make some money off it, sorry to hear about it and good luck with getting it back

That sucks man. That is my main problem with jon boats. I want one and will get one but its a fear of mine. I'm going to put insurance on mine just for this reason.

I live in Canton . A small town by Peoria . The boat isn't anything special , just a 12' extra deep ,extra wide jon . Olive drab green in color , Has two holes in the front deck from where a trolling motor bracket ripped out . On the back of the boat is a white pvc pipe that is used to hold my fishing buddy ( I lost the bracket somewhere) Registration number is IL 1447 BH . Sticker is good till 2010 .

On another note . The land owner gave me a 14' v-bottom to replace the boat that was stole . So now I have a winter project to work on . Let the fun begin .

I can't begin to tell you how angry I still am . I've logged countless miles driving and walking around looking for that boat . Contacted the local boat dealers to let them know incase someone tries to trade it in . Talked to several guys that are in different clubs . Hopefully someone will run across it and get back with me . :'(

I am pretty sure the boat is still around your town. Check local pawn shops and questionable vehicle sellers.

What kind of chains, locks did you have on it?

Sorry to sound gloomy but your boat is probably on its way to china right now. The way things are now it probably went straight to the scrap yard. I would be very surprised if they stole it to use it.

That really sucks...I would also try some of the local scrapyards. They pay pretty well for scrap alluminum.

I live in Southern Illinois and I have my outboard locked to my boat with a bike chain.

A bunch of scavengers in this world.

I bought one of those outboard motor locks, got a padlock on the hitch itself, and a relatively large chain that goes through one of the rims on the trailer, round the axle, and around the frame then is locked with a pretty good padlock.

However, even with all that if someone really wants it, there is not crap you can do about it. I catch him, he will be in a wheelchair the rest of his life, if he has a rest of his life. Thats also because my boat is in my driveway and if someone is there next to my house like that, especially at night, he will be looking down the barrel of a semi-auto 12 gauge when he turns around.

I am really sorry to hear about this though dude. It is good you saw some decent humanity out of it with your new boat. Hopefully, you mod that one, and do some work on it, you can end up with many more hours of enjoyment with the new one.

My bud has a paddleboat and had it taken from his back yard. From a rather suspicious tip given him by his neighbor, he went across his pond into the woods and found it about 50 yards into the woods covered in worms and beer cans. Who knows you may find it yet.

The land owner is a real good guy . He was just sick that someone decieded to sneak onto his property and rip a boat off . I was actually surprised that he gave me the other boat . The thing I really don't understand about any of this is the perps could have just backed up to my trailer and taken the whole d**n thing . Instead they choose to cut the chain and padlock and just nab the boat . Idiots.

Any suggestions on redoing a V-bottom boat guys ??

There is no proper response to that situation other than "String'em up", they deserve it......In my world that's worse than stealin' a horse and I live in Tx.

That really sucks. I live outside a really lousy neighborhood and I wake up every morning expecting my boat or something out of it to be stolen.

Three years ago I purchased a Coleman crawdad from someone with a new trolling motor. I borrowed a buddies pick-up and brought the boat to my father's house for temporary storage. It was out of sight in his driveway around back still in the bed of the pick-up. We went to Boat U.S. to get some accessories and when we got back the boat was stolen. All this happened in the same day after spending $700 on the boat. They stole the d**n thing right out of the pick-up. :'(

I'll snap some pics and post em in a new post , when it stops raining . I must admit that I'm not a big fan of V-Bottoms , but at least its a boat and my fishing won't be ruined .
