I must admit I know nothing about fishing, but I am helping my gf find some fishing lures for my brother in law. Do these work for salt water?

Answer: I wish I could help you however I purchased these as a gift for my son who loves to fish fresh water and salt water. So I purchased a few sets of lures, this being one !

Answer: That is correct, it works in salt water, after use in salt water always Wash them with abundant clean water !!! That tip works with other components that you can use in salt water.

Are these ok for use in ice fishing?

Answer: Not really, they're more for casting. What you want is some jigs I reckon. You could jig the ones that sink though. Look into "Jigging", there ought to be some lure types there...

What's the weight of the four lures?

Are they for fresh or salt water?

Answer: Yes.Both of mine were identical.

Are these considered crankbaits?

Answer: Some of the lures are crankbaits, not all.

Answer: True, the ones I received are not as in the picture, however the description does say that the set is "Pro Picked". Unless the other people commenting are actual Pros themselves, it's hard to get exactly a set that one would pick out. That being said, here's what I received in my set - 4 lures total - 1 fat rap crawdad, 1 countdown rainbow trout, 1 rattlin rap silver/black minnow, and 1 brightly colored count down minnow in chartreuse, red, and silver/white. The bonus gift was included. It's a key chain with a pretty cool Rapala minnow. Overall, I'm pleased with the set.

is $25 for these 4 lures even a deal or are they just stating the price of 4 lures?

Will Catfish go for these?

Can these be used in both salt and fresh water?

Answer: No.

Taking into cosideration that these are only 1.5 inches long it would seem that distance when casting may be an issue. What pound test do you recomend

Answer: I use 6-8 lb and have no trouble casting

Answer: 6-8# line to keep from negatively affecting the lure action.

It was a stocking stuffer for my dad and we live in MN so not the right season for discovering if they're the best-ever lures. He said they looked great but he hasn't tried them. That will come in May. But, as a seasoned fisherman, he seemed pleased so I'm glad I found them.

I have used Rapala lures for a long time and love them but I almost always use an ultralight pole due to the size of the river and ponds I fish more often. I found this kit when looking to increase my ultralight lure selection and knew I had to get it. The shipping was fast and the weekend after I got it I hit a local pond with some big fish and lots of bass that aren't too easy to catch. The first lure I threw was the Rattlin' Rapala (shipped in baby bass) and I was getting tons of bites on it including a couple of good size bass for an ultralight pole. After about an hour of use the wind blew my lure into a tree branch hanging far out over the water and eventually my 4lb line snapped which dropped my lure into the drink. Heartbroken, I switched to the Mini Fat Rap which promptly caught me a small bass on my first cast. I'm very impressed with this whole kit and am looking to buy a replacement Rattlin' Rapala in a few colors.

Just went to dicks and bought this because I just had to know what I was getting. I got the exact one that's in the picture. I wanted a crawdad but they didn't have any. THE THING IS, it's sold as a random variety pack online and in-store so if you buy online you may end up with 2 bright green ones, different lures but both bright green which is no good in my opinion. If you get a crawdad thats lucky. ALSO the description of the individual lures is constant on the back of the box regardless of what lures are actually inside. So the descriptions wont always correspond with the product. The S&H for this product was outrageous, that's why I went to Dicks.
