Lynda Lippin : Decent Filet Knife

This is a great knife to have with you when fishing. It's sharp enough to easily filet a fish on the spot, with enough grip and maneuverability to be relatively safe. I don't love the cover, which takes work to get the knife in and out.

Windward Bound : Decent inexpensive filleting knife

I've had dull knives before, but this is not one of them. My knife arrived very sharp and didn't need any additional sharpening. This is a standard filet knife. It's not very long and it's a bit thick compared to higher end filet knives, but it's long enough to get the job done and easily fits in my tacklebox. On the top edge of the knife it has a descaler and it comes with an open plastic knife cover. Good design, works well, inexpensive, really can't complain much about it. If there's anything that could be improved, getting the knife in and out of the cover should be a little smoother.

R B : Okay for the price, but...

I wanted to get a nice filet knife just for trimming briskets. This works great but just a couple of issues. First the slotted holder design no good. The knife gets jammed easy so I don't see the benefit. Second, the blade coating was a little blemished on both sides. I thought it was oil but it really was blemished. Not a big deal, but I will go with a stainless version next time.
