1. It's hard to control the temper, you need to add or reduce charcoal manually if the temper is too high or low, very inconvenience. For our pellet grill---the grill will automatically add wood pellets and control the temper in proper range.

2. You have to check the temper in real-time to make sure it's not overcooked. For our pellet grill---grill will do it for you, you can have more time to prepare food, play with your friends and family.

3. It can't smoke your food. For our pellet grill also is a smoker, you can enjoy your food with smoky flavor.

Gas Grill

1. You can't set it in precise temper, have to adjust it manually. For our pellet grill---the grill will automatically add wood pellets and control the temper in proper range.

3. It's not safe. The propane tank, may have gas leak problem. Our pellet grill don't have this problem.

4. It's not safe and good-looking if hanging the propane tank on one side of the grill or place it on ground, it takes half storage place if place it on shelf or cabinet. For our pellet grill---wood pellets won't take much space, our hopper have plenty space for it, you don't have to storage too much additionally.

I would like to buy this zgrills 550c, does this grill can really provide smoky tasty? cause i am a huge fan of it.

Answer: If you are used to the strong smoke taste from a grill with wood chips or wood chunks to enhance the taste, you will be dissappointed. My 550b2 just does not cut it in that department. You will need to buy a smoke tube to supplement, and even then, you are not going to match the strong smoke taste of a smoker or wood chips. That said, you can get a smoke taste, just not strong

What's with the different chimney top?

Answer: It's just the shape difference and not different in the function.

Where do the burned pellets go? And what do you do with them?

Answer: The pellets will be burning in the firepot and to clean it, you can vacuum out the firepot.

Answer: They turn to ash and sit in the burn well, you should shop vac them out every couple cooks or so. This is the same with most pellet smokers.

Answer: They burn up into ash and kind of accumulate in the same chamber where they burn. After every time using using mine I have been vacuuming the ash out with a small little utility vac.

Answer: There is almost no ash. The small amount falls to the bottom of the burner and can be removed with a brush and dust pan.

Answer: No on both. Just convert C to F. To convert temperatures in degrees Fahrenheit to Celsius, subtract 32 and multiply by .5556 (or 5/9).

I am a bit concern about the temperature control things, will this grill hold the temperature precisely.

Answer: I have used this grill several times, it is not a issue to me. The temperature range is 180°F to 450°F.

Answer: It needs to be assembled but it comes with an assembly instruction.

The metal and design are quite similar. Assembly takes over an hour and is hampered by 1/4"x20 machine screws with a very shallow Phillips heads that are easily stripped. I wish that the metal was thicker so that the life would likely be more than 5-7 years even in kept out of the weather. Again, this is comparable to Traeger.

This is my first wood pellet grill. So far I prefer using this over the gas or charcoal grills I have owned. Basically the flavor of charcoal with the convenience of gas. I have done steaks, burgers, shrimp, chicken, potatoes and various vegetables and everything has cooked as I would have expected it to. My only complaint is with the sound of the grill when the pellet auger is running. Its louder than a diesel vehicle idling in the drive way. I emailed ZGrill tech support about the issue (describing it in as being as loud as a diesel) and they stated that the noise was normal. I live out in the country but if you live in a close quarters situation in town you may annoy your neighbors, if they are also outside, when cooking with this grill. Bottom line its a good grill for the money if you don't mind a little noise.
