Answer: No 12" sounds about right, it does a great job once you figure out the correct heat settings.recommend

I bought this sealer over three months ago and is still working nicely, however I was wondering if I could use a thicker heat element?

Answer: No a thicker element would pull more power and blow the fuse if you want a thicker element you have to buy one triple the cost. I just double seal

Can you use this on Mylar balloons?

Answer: Don't see why not all it does is heat and melt plastics. I would do a little research into what exactly what MYLAR IS MADE OF. You can adjust the heating range

Will this seal 5 gallon mylar bags?

Answer: If you can get the timer set for Mylar, it is a distinct possibility that it will work. Plastic are tricky, and so I can't guarantee it because I have not actually tried Mylar per se and don't know exactly what type or grade or thickness you are using.

Answer: What is stamped on the glass tube fuse is F6AL250V. It's 3/4" long or 20mm and about 3/16" diameter or 5mm.

Answer: I am not sure, but I am leaning towards no. I have used this extensively with shrink wrap film and bags to seal items. I have tried to seal plastic and it works so so but not really very good. Since this works by sending a quick electrical current I doubt it would get hot enough or stay hot enough for your application.

Answer: I haven't use it for that purpose but I imagine it could. I'd try it on some scrap pieces first so you can set the the dial to the setting that would seal that material.

Can this be used to seal one end of you vacuum bags?

Answer: We can't answer definitively since we don't use it in this manner, but it would seem that if you need to seal one end of a bag and suck out the air from the other end, then this should work.

Answer: The sealer does not heat up for safety reasons. The only time it heats to seal is when the arm is closed on the plastic.

Answer: You will have to measure the size of the album cover first. You need to make the heat shrink plastic at least a 1/2" bigger on all sides, then it should shrink nicely on the album cover.

Answer: You will have to know the size of the record albums you are sealing before you can answer that question. Once you have that answer you can order exactly what you need.

Answer: The light coming on shows that the device is on. You might need to turn the temperature up on it. Then make sure you hold it down until you hear the click that the seal is complete. If you’ve tried these things but they haven’t worked, you might want to contact the company.

Answer: Just contact the company via Amazon and do a replacement. They are great. I had to send mine back but got a replacement in 2 days. The new one works great. I did realize you have to push the lever down harder than I thought I would. Hope that helps.

Answer: I started with 4 to seal some items and backed it down to 3. It depends on how thick or thin the plastic is. You may need to experiment as I did.

Answer: It actually it comes with extra strip/heat. I've used mine at least 10,000 times and it doesn't show any signs of wear and still works great. However, you can find replacement elements and cloths at Amazon, and they've very inexpensive. You can actually buy 2 elements and two cloths for $2.99. By the way, when I use the sealer I found out, though multiple uses, that if you extend the sealing time just a bit, you won't need to cut off the excess, it will tear off if careful attention is used during the tearing-off process. Answer: Amazon sells the strips and how long will they last before replacing them, I believe that depends on the user, I had not replaced my first strip yet so I could not really say. The sealer so far seems of good quality and as long as you take care of it, you should have it for years to come. I hope this helps somewhat.

Answer: Well I haven't sealed a pickle, but it does seal plastic well. You can adjust the heat to get a seal best for your plastic. I'm sure you would have no trouble sealing a pickle, even if you have more than one seal on each end.

Answer: Right out of the box, no power whatsoever when I plugged it in. No heat. No light. Nothing. Arrived poorly packaged.

Answer: Loaded question. Is it the product or the people who are broken? Mine worked perfectly from day one. IT HAS A TIMER. That may be too complicated for some. Hence they think the product is "broken" and - for them - it is.

Answer: This sealer should handle that task easily. You may have to give it a couple of tries and adjust the timing knob to the right sealing time. The instructions I received with my sealer said it could seal up to 10M. I have only used mine to seal meal bags but feel confident it could handle a wider range of sealing tasks.

Answer: I took my fuse out and looked to see if it was still intact, it was, so when I returned it to where it belonged it worked fine and the light worked. Make sure you are pressing the top bar all the way down when you are cutting or sealing. The light will come on when contact is made and you will hear a click and the light goes out when the cut or seal is complete. Good Luck!!

Answer: This sealer has a dial on the end for temp control....on a craft bag start in the middle and try it out....if it doesn't seal, turn up the heat a little bit at a time....I use mine for shrink wrap and it does a great job.

I saw this product being used on a crafting YouTube channel for cutting deco-mesh to make wreaths. I decided that it looked like something I could figure out, so I decided to purchase it. It works just like what I saw in the video, very easy to use, and I like the fact that the sealing area isn't hot to the touch - the sealing area only gets hot when you press the "arm" down to use it. I don't have small children to worry about, but it's nice to not burn yourself when smoothing out whatever you want to cut/seal.

This sealer is awesome. Really simple and easy to use. Extremely fast sealing. I did about 150lbs of wheat and rice immediately after opening and it works flawlessly. It's also really safe, you can touch it seconds after sealing and its barely warm. I haven't used it on anything buy mylar bags, but it is really forgiving as far as which setting you have it on. I was sealing 4 mil mylar bags and tried it on 3, 5 and maxed out and all the seals were pretty much the same. Fantastic sealer. Would recommend to anyone.

This sealer is fine if you have a few bags to seal now and then. We have gone through so many strips that have burnt. It sparks on both ends too and have to constantly clear the plastic that sticks to the tape. Also stops working when it get too hot, then have to wait. we bought this one because of price, but don't buy if you have high volume sealing. We are going back to our other brand that has lasted for years.

I owned the blue one for a couple of years and never had a problem. A friend visited and wanted one, a blue one, and I wanted the new black color. So, I gave her my blue and bought the black. This one is a lot more flimsy than the blue version I'd had. The casing is thinner metal, though this didn't matter to me, but I'm just letting you know. But, the problem is that the handle has a lot of play in it and will only make the impulse connection when it is aligned properly, so it is difficult to get the seal to happen on the first or even third try.
Unfortunately I procrastinated the return process till it was too late.

Received this highly reviewed Impulse Sealer to assist with my at home projects. Upon opening box and plugging into to check on whether it powered on, I eventually noticed two dents on the same side of machine. Not sure what happened because the box it arrived in looked sound. Additionally, the black plastic harness strap that clips around top of the sealer to keep in safe in storage, had one of the edges broken, therefore it didn't hold the top down securely.

Review is for Metronic 16inch heat sealer, sold by Jiaro International: Ordered one of these to seal vacuum sealer type bags. We are a small non-profit, with very, very low volume, so we only seal a few bags at a time. First sealer came and didn't work at all, right out of the box. Checked everything I could, and no power, no heat and now indicator light. It was immediately returned. Got a replacement after several days. It actually worked... but ONLY FOR TEN BAGS. It's not like we process 100s of bags at a time. I tested it with 2 bags, when we got it, and it worked that day. Then I used to do a "second seal" on 2 bags, and it worked that day. Today I was making bags from a roll, where you cut the length you want and seal the bottom, prior to filling. Five seals went okay, then the sixth bag, literally NOTHING happened. No power, no "tick" sound when the heat had been applied, no indicator light. Keep in mind, these bags were being sealed MINUTES apart, so it wasn't like I was overheating it by sealing bags one right after another. This piece of junk is going BACK to Amazon and the search is on for a RELIABLE manufacturer and SELLER.

Super easy to use. Unfortunately, mine will only seal half of my mylar bags airtight. For those bags, multiple attempts sometimes achieves an airtight seal. I have attempted to move the heating element to fix the problem, that only helped a little.

I've been using this for over a year and have had zero problems or issues. I use it to seal 7mil pint and quart mylar bags for emergency food prepper storage. I set it on 7 and leave it there, no problems. It probably sealed 5,000+ mylar bags so far and still going strong. I always do a double seal just to be safe. The unit isn't babied. I buy long term storage food in bulk, package it in mylar bags w/ an oxygen absorber and then seal. I usually do around bags 50 in a session, one after the other, non-stop until they're all sealed

So I received this sealer and red the directions and was left with questions about settings for the various packaging materials you can seal. After watching the manufacturers video it did not answer my questions so I went for it. The sealer would make noises and the light turned on and off and it didn't work. I looked at the hinge and noticed the heat wire was disconnected. I hooked it and and it still didn't work. I then took it apart per the video and notice the other wire was disconnected. I connected it and it worked. I'd give it a 3.5 rating for the lack of instruction and quality assurance. I hope it lasts.

I bought this to replace another brand I had. I was happy to open the box. I used it on 3 bags. I thought there was a delay since it was heavier duty than the previous one. The seller contacted me asking me how it was working and I explained to them what happened. No answer yet. It does have a fuse and I thought to go get one, after testing it again. I had to sleep on that. I shouldn't have to go out a search for fuses for an item I used the day I received it and now it doesn't work. I hasn't been with me for a week and I can no longer use it. I will be returning it.

I just received this and it didn't work. Here is what I did:

STEP 1 - UNPLUG IT, please don't die
STEP 2 - Check the size of the unit, there is a black plug. Unscrew it, make sure the fuse isn't blown. If it is replace it and retest. If its good, go to step 3.
STEP 3 - Unscrew the bottom. There are four screws located in the feet.
STEP 4 - Look at left side, there is a black switch contact (I circled it in red in my picture). Physically push that switch and listen. You'll hear a very loud audible click you probably were not hearing before. This is the "on switch" When you lower the bar, you'll see the brass colored metal is supposed to push it in. On my unit, this wasn't contacting hard enough.
STEP 5 - with a pair of pilars and while holding the arm. slightly bend the metal finger to the left (refer to my other picture)
STEP 6 - WITH THE DEVICE STILL UNPLUGGED, and the bottom off, set the unit upright and lower the handle listening for that click. If it clicks, you're in business.
STEP 7 - Screw the bottom plate back, plug it in and test it on a bag.

PRO tip, start at the lowest setting and slowly work your way up on the bags until you find the 'doneness' you prefer.

EDIT - one year later it stopped working. Doesn't turn on when plugged in anymore. I don't know how to contact the seller for help.

This is worth it! I used it for seals little treat bags that had a cookie inside. Super easy to use.

Quality control : dispite the horrible arrival condition

Package was completely trashed when it arrived. Was re-taped in several places. Item was broken apart but was noticable and repaired. So far I've used it about 50 times and is working well though, dispite the horrible arrival condition. I will be using this about 100 more times in the next few days. I might add stars for the fact that it survived shopping and continued to work.

This is very easy to use. Everyone in my office can operate it within seconds. Even our oldest worker know how to use with brief safety training. It's not for production purpose, but its very handy when you need it.
The 16 inch is big enough for our purpose, The seller provided a larger one for different needs. It looks solid in build. When it dies ( may be in many years), we will get another one from the seller to replace it for sure.
Highly recommended.

Worked great for the first 2 months then it broke. Not something I use every day and not abused. Sealed maybe 40 bags over 2 months and all of a sudden stopped working. Won’t light up, won’t seal. I changed the strip thinking maybe it was a bad strip, did not help. Hums when you plug it in and doesn’t seal. Out of amazons “return window”Very disappointed
