Questions about Pflueger Trion Spincast Fishing Reel

Has anyone else had a problem with the reel handle going in reverse after a cast? Shouldn't it be like every other reel the line should not be comming

Answer: My husband and I both have this reel and we used them a lot. We have not had an issue with the handle at all.

How does the bait alert clicker work on this reel? I just received a new one and it doesn't seem to do anything at all.

Answer: Lock the reel. The alert will not work if the reel is in cast mode. Then set the drag to allow line to strip from spool with light pull. The other thing to do is just put the beer down and hold the rod.

Answer: I own the Pflueger Trion and the Pflueger Presidential. Both are good reels. Neither has a click bait function. both will allow line to be pulled off against a properly set line tension. If you need an audible strike alert, I suggest you put a bell on the end of the set rod. I use mine to throw lures so I do not need a click bait function.

What is the difference between size 6, 6U, and 10U?

Answer: 6 and 10 are the weight of line they have. 10 is bigger than the 6. If they end with a U they are underspin reels, which have a trigger release rather than push button.

Answer: Not sure what the u stands for but these are good reels. Just need to restring with better quality string. Stock string has to much memory and loops instead of laying straight out on water.

Answer: awesome reel just don't try and catch red fish or sharks , i've caught speckled trout, bass, catfish and anything else under 10 lbs.

Answer: 3.1 : 1

what's the Gear Ratio for 6u ?

Answer: Don't know, but if you are looking for trigger reel this is really your only choice in the 8 to 12 lbs line class.

Is this reel right and left hand retrieve?

Answer: Yes, you can make it right or left retrieve.

What size line comes with it

Answer: 4 pound test line.

What is the difference between 6u, 10u, and ms?

Answer: the difference between 6u and 10u is size. The 10u is significantly larger than the 6u and holds more line. My husband and I are avid trout fisherman and we have owned several of the 10u over the years. Other than a plastic part inside the real that eventually wears thin and won't allow the real to pick up the line anymore, this real works great. We have tried to fix the problem but as always, things made in china wear out quickly. We use ours hard in a year and usually they last us 3 years. I have no idea what the ms is. Hope this helps you out.

Answer: Trion is the older model. the Presidential is the newer model. I have both. Niether has a click drag. Both are good, I prefer the Presidential model. I am using the line that is provided on it.

E K : Cheap push button design

Cheap push button design! Like other reviews state, th push button is very fragile. Easily broken. Mine lased four hours. Everything else on this reel is good, but it wont work with a broken cast button.

What I like is that my son can fish with this with minimal tangles in the fishing line. It’s easy to cast and works good for him until he is older and is ready to advance to to an open bail reel.

I have been using underspin finger triggers for years and have never had one that was as big or as easy to cast as this one. It really is the size of a regular reel and so far has cast like a dream. It’s sturdy and easy to use.

Nick : Consider the Zebco 33 Gold Micro instead.

I like this reel, it has a nice look and feel. I've caught tons of all species of sunfish with it, I pair it with a Shakespeare Micro series UL casting rod. However, in actual use, the Zebco 33 Gold Micro outperforms. Whats funny is I don't like the look or feel of the Zebco, but it's the same price and has dual pickup pins and instant anti reverse, and when this one constantly jams when casting, that one has been more reliable and smooth casting. One tip: keep the line full, even overfull, once it starts running low it gets snagged up easily when casting.
