Questions about Daiwa 64110100 Reel Oiler, One Size
Q:
How does this compare to 10w Nano-Oil for lubricating folding knives?
Answer: I used both the daiwa reel oil and 10wNano-oil and I can tell that daiwa reel feel like a 7w. It kinda in between the 5w nano oil and the 10w nano oil. If some one would use a lot of 10w nano oil I would recommend them to buy the daiwa reel oil. And if they only use once in a while the 10w nano oil would be the better choice.
Answer: I think it very much as good as the Nano Oil. It's my go to oil for all my knives. Nano Oil is way over priced IMO.
Q:
Is it conductive?
Answer: Only if your fishing reel is connected to an electricity supply or being used in a lightening storm
Q:
Is this food safe
Answer: It's mostly mineral oil, but I'd recommend pure mineral oil instead. Frog lube is food safe and a great rust prohibiter
Answer: If you are asking if this is safe to use around foods, I'm not quite sure. My guess would be no unless you are using it on knives and have washed/rinsed them before making contact with food. How do you intend to use it?
Answer: I put it on all my knife blades ( the high carbon ones) that I use for food prep & Iv'e never had any health issues! Hope this helps...
Answer: Do you wanna cook with it? Olive oil is much cheaper, I believe.
Answer: Yes! I like to saute garlic with this oil
Answer: most likely it is not
Answer: no
Q:
Can this be refilled?
Answer: no
Q:
Is the needle flexible? Able to curve
Answer: My unit arrived with the needle bent at an angle. I was afraid it might affect how the oiler would work... and it did! It actually made it easier see where you were applying a drop of oil. But, I wouldn't risk busting the needle off to flex it, or straighten it out.
Answer: I would not try. The needle is very small and hard. I'm afraid it was bent it would crease and plug.
Answer: Nope
Q:
Is the needle thinner and more precise than the kpl applicator? I havr a knife thats unable to be disassembled and my kpl needle is too big.
Answer: I do not know about the KPL needle but I have gotten oil into very tight places. The pen and the oil in it will soak into any knife hinge ( I've tried about 20 ), and it frees up tools that have a hinge. I would recommend this oiler.
Answer: kpl??? Don't know how "thin" that is. The Daiwa is pretty small. Good enough for what I need to get into to oil.
Answer: yes
Q:
What would be better for lubing knives, this or Hoppes no.9?
Answer: The Daiwa for sure. Hoppes is a solvent and it will strip any rust protection off the knife leaving just bare metal. WD-40 will work too and is probably cheaper ...
Answer: They are both mineral oil based lubricants. So they are basically the same. Also never use wd40 as a lubricant it's used for Water Disbursement. It's use is in it's name.
Answer: I would pick this one.
Q:
Is this for knives?
Answer: I use it for any light oiling, knives included.
Answer: Excellent for knives I use it for my Spyderco
Answer: Not specifically as it was developed for lubricating fishing reels, but it works very well for the use case of lubricating knife pivots, many knife collectors/users use this product.
Answer: I think it’s made for fishing reels but I use it for my knife. Works well.
Answer: No. It is for fishing reels
Answer: That’s what I use it for.
Q:

Q:
will this needle oiler go into the lube orifice on a daiwa sb750 mt seaborg electric reel
Answer: GOOD
Q:
Is this a good option to oil a technics sl-1300 direct drive turntable (center post)? what is the weight of this oil?
Answer: I don’t know the exact weight. But if you can use it on guns (which generally is a very light weight oil), fishing reels, and many other products; I’d say it’s definitely safe to use on a turntable.
Q:
What is the country of manufacture?
Answer: US. Cypress, California
Q:
Has anyone had trouble with the applicator tip? Just bought it but looks like it's jammed and none of the oil is coming out.
Answer: I have a Daiwa reel oil, knife pivot loop, a few nano oil they all come out the applicator fine. I think something is not right with the applicator you had.
Answer: No. My applicator tip works .
Answer: I have had no problems. I have also found this oil works well on a number of jobs.
Answer: Are you removing the red tip cover?
Answer: Yes, mine never worked. I emailed them a few times and received no response.
Q:
Would this work on vintage Hardy reels (System 6, 8, Marquis #10 and a 40's Perfect?
Answer: I have not fished for many, many years. I needed a light machine oil with pinpoint dispenser so I got this. It works quite well on bearings and low friction parts. However, if you need something for higher friction parts, like gear cogs or reel intervals, I would recommend a grease like Shimano Dura-Ace (bicycle) Grease. It is available in a handy 100g squeeze bottle. It is the translucent green stuff called special grease, not the hub or brake grease.
Answer: I don't know, but it works great on my folding knives, so I would expect it to work for any similar application.
Answer: Yes!
Q:
Where is this oil made?
Answer: Who knows. probable off shore but it works so good I don't care.
Answer: I don't remember exactly where, but it's made in the US from what the company says.
Q:
Can this be used on bearings?
Answer: Yes! I use it for the ball bearing pivots inside my knives, and many of the reels also have ball bearings, which is what it is intended to be used for. It is an excellent oil, it would work for most applications that it was not intended for also.
Q:
What thickness is this oil ?
Answer: I don't think they give a weight like Nano-oil does. It is a general light weight, all-purpose lubricant. If one wanted to know the weight of 3-in-1 oil or RemOil or any other, I don't think that is offered in their literature either. I like this oil and for say, knives, reels, etc., you will be happy, I think.
Answer: It's probably a 5wt.

Great oil and oiler. The oil weight is perfect for smaller mechanisms. I used for folding knives and it works great at lubricating the pivot on Bearings. Little goes a long way.
Martin Filipkowski : Syringe applicator is great to have
I use this product to keep my pocket knives lubricated. The syringe applicator is a god-send. The low viscosity oil is also great for this use.

Sam Smith : Great stuff
Great stuff, but the nozzle got clogged quickly.
C.B. : Works well for the price
Bought to try on folding knives. It's not the best stuff in the world, it isn't food safe, but the price to performance ratio is extremely good and for what I'm using it for (just on my hard use folders) one oiler will last a long time.
G. Mann : As described.
This oil is great for folding knives.
Ahmed : excellent quality, and on time delivery

Dremple : Absolutely exact item I needed for knifes and weapons, and price is lowest I've seen for same items
This product is perfect for all my knives and weapon lube needs.
The actual number of single drops is so economical..I bought a year ago and I'm still less than half way thru. The needle applicator allows precise application of oil to just the right spots...and no waste.
Excellent price point...convienent clip and love the needle applicator.
For the price get several and you won't t need to purchase oil for years.

A. L. : Used for knife pivots, and I love it
I use this oil for pocket knives running on bearing, and absolutely love it. Just a dab will do ya, and the needle applicator makes it amazingly easy to do just that. Full disassembly, or just reaching in to put a tiny dab of oil on the detent ball, this stuff is awesome. I ordered this bottle in early march, have cleaned and oiled a knife about once every other week, and can barely see a drop in the fluid level.
scott : Works great
Perfect for a knife collector
Alex Flaxman : Cheaper than Nano-Oil = Awesome
Great product that works identical to nano-oil. I used this on all my pocket knives (Benchmade, Spyderco) and my multi-tools as well. I recommend this.
robert a molitor : Good stuff
Use this for my 10 scale rc crawler cvd joints and such, precise application, lubes it up real nice
Fireman306 : "The tip will not drip"
The product itself was actually great. It was purchased to lube the pivots on my knife collection in a controlled application. The only problem was after using it literally one single time seven days later I go to use it and it absolutely would not dispense a drop I tried everything I could to clear the tip which defeated the purpose of the purchase
chuckie : Five Stars

Sci Fi Electronics man : Five Stars

Great tool for servicing my spinning reels. Puts a super small drop of oil exactly where it is needed. Easy to control the location and amount of oil placed on the reel.
chuckie : Five Stars
works great
alfredo oquendo machado : Bien
Bueno
alphonso decena : Waste
Leaks everywhere. Metal tube is obstructed, would not work.
A. Howard : This is just mineral oil...which is terrible.
Because of the advertising and my own hopefulness, I thought this was an lower-priced alternative to the more expensive Nano Oil or KPL for use in my knife pivots. I ordered this, used it on a half dozen of my knives and found that it did no better than the PTFE Tri-Flow bike lube I'd been using at actual lubrication/friction reduction. It also gathered more pocket dirt and lint than either of those. I was suspicious about the chemistry of what I'd bought and as a result, decided to hunt down the MSDS for the product online. Surprise of surprises, this stuff is just garden variety thinned Mineral Oil in a fancy applicator pen.
Seriously though? Why is this considered a competitor to anything else on the market for knives or any metal-on-metal lubrication? I've used everything from machinist cutting oil, industrial sewing machine oil, full moly oil and grease, Ballistol, 3M Dry Film Teflon, Super Lube Grease, Kroil, white lithium, vegetable-based oils, bearing and chain lube, Flouro Teflon Grease, Frog Lube, Tuf-Glide, and even powdered graphite for lubricating locks. They all have their strengths and weaknesses but apart from being food-safe, I can't think of ANYTHING that mineral oil excels at over the competition. Even Frog Lube, which is made with food-safe wintergreen oil is better for that purpose. The lubricity of mineral oil is also pretty much garbage and thinned out or not, it draws dirt into the mechanism like a magnet.
So apart from the snazzy pen applicator, (which I can totally get separately here on Amazon) why would I buy this again? A bottle of Mineral Oil in the pharmacy section of my local grocery store is $1.98 for 16 ounces. The needle applicator bottles seem to cost about $2 each. This pen holds 0.25 ounces of oil and currently costs $7.50. So yeah, do the math.
My advice is to just break down and get some 10 weight Nano Oil if you have knives with bearings and some KPL if you have knives with washers. Turns out the purpose-built stuff IS actually better.
ChiTownYooper : Slippy
This is REEL slippery stuff.
Jasper Payne : Perfect for knife pivots.
I used this for knife pivots and ive refilled it 4 or five times will another oil and it hasnt leaked or cracked its perfect for getting into hard spots. Then i cant use this one anymore Ill be getting another.
BigJerm : Nice and thin
Thin weight oil. Great for knife pivots.
Chris : Good buy
Great budget alternative to expensive “tactical” products.
St. Nick : Works
Works
K with a k : It is a bottle of oil
If you're looking for a little needle bottle full of light machine oil you found what you're looking for
Justin : Gets in tight places
good
