Q:
Just purchased the 20 seems to be a little squeaky nothing intense but if you turn yours slowly do you hear a noise?
Q:
Is this the new reel that was just regards at the end of 2015
Answer: Probaly new old stock but I do think they have made updates yet to the model. They aren't quite as smooth as a Ci4 however under load they are very stout and maybe smoother. Sometimes it's easy to forget that reel might feel one way in a store in your hand as compared to another and much different in real world. The MGX is noticeably louder and not as smoothe as a Ci4 or patriarch when just playing with it in your hand, but it's very balanced and keeps its smoothness under load maybe more so than the other aforementioned reels. It's pricey at $300 but as $200 on sale is a better overall reel probably
Answer: New for 2016 great reel, it was workhorse yesterday!
Answer: Yes it is new release from end of 2015, they were hard to get. Went out of stock almost right away.
Answer: brand new for 2016, it is the top of the line reel for Abu Garcia, Awesome reel!!!!!!
Q:
Is this the 20 or the 30?
Answer: Mine is a 20
Answer: The one that is showing is the Mgx 30 not the 20
Q:
What's the best rod for this?
Answer: I have 6 of these MGX 's on 7'2" - and 1 -7' 6" ... all .. MH w/ fast tip .... these rods launch all soft plastics, 4.5" jig swimbaits, jerkbaits, Jackhammer chatters, topwaters and 98% what I throw .... even the dropshots .... I do fish Sam Rayburn and MH is a prudent choice .... rods like Loomis and MHX rod blanks that are light and very sensitive ....
Answer: i would send it back . these reels are junk i have bought three of them and there all flawed, they worked fine for a month then they started to fall apart. I would never buy Abu Garcia again. I wish the best of luck
Q:
Can it get submerged in saltwater?
Answer: i would not these reel are cheaply made
Answer: Only if you drop it.
Product reviews of Abu Garcia Revo MGX Spinning Fishing Reel
ArchEtech : and this new MGX is better than all of these
I've used the Quantum EXO, Quantum Smoke, Shimano CI4, CI4+, Patriarch, Patriarch XT in my current set ups, and this new MGX is better than all of these on first glance. Of course it is at a slightly higher price point as well. The reel looks good, it feels good, and is well put together both in build and materials.
After a weekend of fishing, I wasn't impressed however. It is a great reel, and perhaps I had an imperfect example, but although very solid and powerful on the retrieve, it doesn't not have the smoothness of the patriarch or shimano ci4 at a more expensive price. The drag, nor the cranking is as smooth. It does have a better fit and finish, and does seem to have a strong powerful drag and crank to it when compared to the other reels, but feels less smooth and actually makes more noise during operation. I actually video taped this noise and compared it to other reels and there is no question it is there. Abu offered to take a look, but considering I just purchased it, I don't feel like waiting for 6 months to have the factory work on it. I'm going to look into the CI4+ and perhaps some of the higher end Shimano and Daiwa options. Most likely ill end up with the original patriarch as its superior to the newer XT model.
At a $300 price, this reel should be buttery smooth when compared to much cheaper models and does not outdo them. It may however be more durable over the long term.
Batman606 : Smoothest reels ever
Pan fishing
kongpeng : Super light and awesome reel
Super light and awesome reel. I’m only giving it 2 star because of the reel. The quality of the reel that was sent to me was horrible. the original reel that was sent to me wasnt working correctly. I returned it for a replacement and that replacement had a loose component on it too and I had to return the replacement too. I just ended up buying the reel straight through Abu Garcia.
Don : Incredible!
Expensive, but worth every nickel! I have never used such a smooth and refind instrument! I knew on the first cast that this was special!
Aaron C : Best reel I've used.
This is my favorite reel now. I have shimano C 14 I like this better. I have caught more fish on this reel and it still works great. My C 14 is in warranty broken now and have caught less fish on it.

Chris : Horrible experience. Now I have to go through the ...
I was counting on this order for a key tournament. The box was for a REVO2MGX20 Revo Spinning Reel. But inside the box was a SILVER MAX BAITCAST REEL!!! I couldn't believe it. I've never had this happen before, and I have purchased many reels. Total bait and switch and completely ridiculous. Even had tape on the "original" Abu Garcia box. Someone deliberately opened the box and put this other reel in there, then taped it back. Horrible experience. Now I have to go through the additional time to repackage and drop back off at UPS. And worst of all - I DON'T HAVE THE REEL I NEEDED AND EXPECTED!!
peco : its a great reel, worth the money
Live it, its a great reel, worth the money.

JMc : Neverlast bail.Run away from this reel
Had 3 out of 4 bail springs fail on Abu Garcia bails.Bails on all my spinning tackle are always gently closed by hand all the time and they still failed within 6 months of purchase.I have fishing reels that are 30 years old and still work to this day compared to these expensive garbage reels.Reels were repaired free of charge but had to spend close to around a hundred dollars for shipping and insurance total.Honestly if you're spending hard earned money buy a Daiwa or Shimano spinning reel you'll be much happier.
Elliot Jorge : Wrong item received... twice.
Received the wrong item twice. Totally unacceptable...
Amazon Customer : MGX was taking out and a cheap sx10 6 bearing reel was placed in the MGX box!
If i could give this zero stars i would have! I received a cheap 6 bearing sx10 cardinal reel in the MGX box! The MGX was switched out for a cheap reel. This is unbelievable and inexcusable! Had this cheap reel come in its own box I could understand but it came in an MGX box! This is very fishy! They are sending a replacement though.
Amazon Customer : Five Stars
best spinning reel i have ever try , light and smooth
Brent B. : Great quality, not sure what others are stating...
Great quality reel from Abu Garcia. It's a super smooth experience and casts like a dream from my kayak. Love this as my go to spinning reel with 10 lb power pro super slick v2 braid... handles the smallies great but also can work a bigger northern in too. The drag works fantastic!

Little loud but seems to break in over time. Smooth.
